To be shocked by such blatant breast feeding shaming

Sat here watching this morning while breast feeding my baby to watch Philip scofield and andrew neil edited by MNHQ at OP's request saying "thats taken a really dark turn", "im trying to get that image out of my head now" when a guest on the show, camilla talked about breastfeeding her children on the daily talk topics. Philip scofields face and gestures were absolutely disgusting! So much stigma around breastfeeding already.. absolutely shocked to see grown men express such breast feeding shaming live on TV.

Didn't see it but not surprised. This country has the weirdest attitude to breastfeeding I've ever come across

Giggorata · 09/02/2021 10:51

Please email in and complain, as I am.

Flukz1988 · 09/02/2021 10:55

@Giggorata I glad someone else noticed too. I've sent a complaint to ofcom. I'm so shocked. Holly looked uncomfortable. Just can't believe in this day and age grown men can act like that!

Camilla did talk about "being milked" by her children (as opposed to breastfeeding) which I was initially off put by, although can't say I responded I the same way as Philip or Andrew.

I went off Phillip Schofield when he interviewed Keira Bell (if you don’t know, she was diagnosed as trans at 16 after a 2 or 3 meetings, was fully transitioned by age 20 and has subsequently realised she is not tran, she is just a lesbian. Unfortunately she has had irreversible changes and a double mastectomy as a result of this misdiagnosis but all of the ‘trans supporters’ and the gender clinic ostracise and vilify her rather than being sympathetic and shocked at the negligence of the diagnosis).

I think he has lost his humanity.

Anyway Phillip, when Keira mentioned that people can’t change sex, responded with ‘well that’s a big claim!’ as if she was saying something outrageous.

The link there takes to a tweet with the clip attached.

Being milked by her children... wtf what a. Weird phrase

Deinosavros · 09/02/2021 11:04

Thank you for the link @GraduallyWatermelon

unmarkedbythat · 09/02/2021 11:08

As pp have said, didn't see it but not surprised. The negativity towards breastfeeding in the UK is ridiculous.

Campervan69 · 09/02/2021 11:09

Pathetic men children. Ffs breast feeding is completely natural.

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 09/02/2021 11:11

Phillip schofield absolutely hates women. It has been apparent in the way he speaks to and treats guests for years. He’s so blatant about it.

Tyranttoddler · 09/02/2021 11:11

Phillip schofield, what a very strange man

cherriesx3 · 09/02/2021 11:12

Not always, but in my experience it has normally been older men who have the oddest attitude to women breastfeeding. It's their own problem that they have sexualized breasts, forgetting that their purpose is to feed their young.

Well that’s literally what is happening! Nothing weird about it.
snugglepuff · 09/02/2021 11:15

Schofield is a horrible, smug, twat.
I'm not surprised.
He's so judgy it's vile.

HelloViroids · 09/02/2021 11:20

To the people saying it’s a weird way to phrase it, it was because they were originally talking about cows being milked

LAgeDeRaisin · 09/02/2021 11:20

Has anyone mentioned to them that they are mammals

truthisalie · 09/02/2021 11:24

Being milked sounds horrible and revolting.

Merename · 09/02/2021 11:26

Why does it sound revolting? Arguably less revolting than cows being milked and it given to another species - breast milk is made for humans.

unmarkedbythat · 09/02/2021 11:28

I used to joke about being milked when pumping, especially when I was trying to build up a stash in preparation for going back to work.

1Morewineplease · 09/02/2021 11:29

OP ... it's Andrew Neil not Marr.

Somethingsnappy · 09/02/2021 11:32

I didn't see it, but from reading this, it sounds like he responded to the turn of phrase rather than the concept of breastfeeding....I hope so anyway. After all, when we talk about milking a cow, that is a different action completely. We wouldn't say a calf was milking the cow either...we'd just say it was feeding. I guess that's where the imagery came from. As I said though, I haven't actually seen it, so I may be defending him and live to regret it. My baby is currently breastfeeding, not milking me into a bucket Grin

thetinselbadge · 09/02/2021 11:32

She made a light hearted comment and their response was awful.

Classic 'how to make a breastfeeding woman feel like a repulsive loon'. Nothing about breastfeeding warrants his childish and unpleasant response.

I saw it too and Philip’s and Andrew’s reaction were shameful and immature. We should definitely complain. Perhaps it might help raise their awareness. Idiots.
