Cadburys Flake

Most underrated chocolate bar. Nobody goes, "ooh I really fancy a flake babe, grab me one from the co-op" do they? It's always a Snickers or a Bueno.

But they're the best. Better than all the rest.

AIBU?

Twirls - better than flakes. Gavel

SmallPrawnEnergy · 08/02/2021 13:58

Chocolate that crumbles like a flake and doesn’t melt is the chocolate choice of a psychopath.

Lulu1919 · 08/02/2021 14:08

Love a flake

Wavey123 · 08/02/2021 16:27

To anyone who ever goes to mainland Ireland some shops there (not at the airport) sell what seems to resemble more of what I remember Cadbury’s chocolate being like before Kraft. You have to make sure it’s Dairy Milk with the square edges, not the rounded edges

Wavey123 · 08/02/2021 16:27

A Spira out of the fridge, you’ll never beat it

Eckhart · 08/02/2021 16:39

How about 2 Spiras out of the fridge?
Coffeekisses · 08/02/2021 17:14

Spira brings back many happy memories... but seriously, we need to bring back Fuse bars. They were almost a complete meal in themselves!
Moving away from Cadbury, Vice Versas always felt very special due to novelty value. Also Secret bars, whilst probably in fact very sickly, we’re delicious to my childhood self. Like walnut whips without the nasty walnut flavour!

AngelicPP · 08/02/2021 20:53

I LOVE flakes!!...and and he's another one here that would love to have a spira again (even tho I thought they were called spiral lol...oh and I loved the wispa gold..I could mention many many more choc bars that I love (confirmed chocoholic) as there are now many more I like than not.
I literally haven't seen a difference si

AngelicPP · 08/02/2021 20:55

Oops sorry knocked and!
I haven't noticed anything wrong with Cadbury's chocolate?

dementedma · 08/02/2021 20:56

Ripple better than Flake, but Flake very good on ice cream.
Ferrero Rocher...I could, and have, eaten an entire box!

OnePotato2Potato · 08/02/2021 21:16

Flake crumbles too easily, twirl or wispa are much better!

Usernamenotava1lable · 08/02/2021 21:25

I'm a BIG fan of a star bar.
YES! Massively underrated.
But a PP mentioned Double Decker. That's a close second.
No, no. You are so wrong about these. They're vile.

Wallabyone · 08/02/2021 21:28

This thread had brought back memories of delicious Fuse bars and Drifters, and also the old Time Outs. I don't know what I'd have if I could choose something, I'm perpetually on a bloody diet and it's so depressing.

MolotovMocktail · 08/02/2021 21:32

I am totally team bueno and snickers. Sent DH out for a Bueno last night! I hate all the annoying little fragments that flakes instantly disintegrate into.

tara66 · 08/02/2021 21:46

OP - Cadbury's flake - most underrated chocolate bar...??
NO - not underrated at all - it means you are too young to have seen the sexy adverts for it years ago? The lady in the bath advert ..?
''Only the flakest, somethingest chocolate ..etc''?

CounsellorTroi · 08/02/2021 22:04

"Only the flakiest, crumbliest chocolate,
Tastes like chocolate never tasted before"

Woman in bath puts it slowly in her mouth and slowly bites down.

Ibizafun · 08/02/2021 22:12

There is nothing that tastes like a flake and a cup of tea and I’ve got the waist to prove it. Total bliss and no stopping.

Oysterbabe · 08/02/2021 22:36

Flakes are nice but they aren't worth the mess. You can't bite the fuckers without them exploding everywhere. A similarly annoying snack is the jammy dodger. You bite into the tough jam and the biscuit disintegrates everywhere.

bendmeoverbackwards · 08/02/2021 22:50

I quite like a flake, hasn’t had one for years.

Anyone remember boxes of shorter length flakes? My mum used to buy them from Bejams.

Love Ripple.

But best chocolate? Tony’s Chocolonely.

floss1 · 08/02/2021 23:06

Too annoyingly messy to eat....unless you’re in the bath, of course!!

Whattheactual20201 · 09/02/2021 01:46

Ripple / toffee crisp / Milky Way and milky crispy rolls here !

Jacketpotato84 · 09/02/2021 13:07

@bloodyhairy

For Twirl fans: Make a cuppa. Bite the ends off your Twirl. Suck your tea through your Twirl straw. Enjoy the melted goodness. No need to thank me Grin
Oh but i must!Grin

Yeah, you're doing it wrong.

You have to open the packet up fully, so that it's flat, fix it to the table with blu-tack or tape, and then after that, you don't use your hands at all. You just have to get your head down and trough. The last step is to have a shower or a bath.

It takes a while, so I find it's best to make a bulk effort once a month or so, by ordering £40 worth (so that I get free delivery from the supermarket) and eating it in one go. It's often best to pick a day when you have no socialising planned, so that you have plenty of time to rest afterwards.

I wish you the best of luck in this endeavour.

rosetylersbiggun · 09/02/2021 20:17

I had to design and make a prototype of new packaging for a Walnut Whip in GCSE technology. /irrelevant/

Anyone remember that 'diet' chocolate bar from the 90s, Flyte? Used to give me murderous headaches for some reason.
