Needing someone to come to the house at 7.30AM, look after a 7 year old and walk 7 year old to school for 8.45AM.
£5 too low, £10 too high?

Well, what, it's one hour and 15 mins of work. At minimum wage, £8.72 an hour, would work out as £10.90 a day. That's just over £54 quid a week and over £200 quid a month. Seems reasonable to me, especially if they have another job too. They'll be getting an extra £200 a month for just over an hours work a day.

I have a minimum wage job and the hours are exactly the same. 1hr 15 mins a day. So that's my total income a month.

QueenOfLabradors · 06/02/2021 19:14

If the seven year old was a dog rather than a child, I'd be billing you £32.50. Based on £25 per hour for one-to-one. Oh, and plus mileage. I'm also dbs checked fully insured dog first aid qualified etc.

TheInvigilator · 06/02/2021 19:16

And hey, if you leave local to me OP, I'll come and do it for minimum wage.

rawalpindithelabrador · 06/02/2021 19:17

@5128gap

You should pay at least NMW rate for the age of the person.
Yeah, because people will definitely be diving over themselves to do this crummy 2 hour/day job with awful hours.
RoomOfRequirement · 06/02/2021 19:17

There is absolutely no way this is real. Either reverse or troll; no one is this stupid.

TheInvigilator · 06/02/2021 19:20

Actually some people, like me, would be jumping at the bit for a minimum wage job with inconvenient and crummy hours. Some of us will take what we can get and be pleased to know we'll have money to be able to eat that month.

Sunnydays999 · 06/02/2021 19:20

£10 at the very least . I would say £15

Beautiful3 · 06/02/2021 19:24

I'd say £15.

Yep, you can definitely pay for your shopping with this gig.
NoKingDingaLingTitsInAbsentia · 06/02/2021 19:26

Can't stop laughing at the fact people pay more to have their dogs walked than you are prepared to pay to have your darling child looked after/walked to school Biscuit

Yep.
tummyaches · 06/02/2021 19:27

7-30 til 9.05 inc return from school so 1.5 ish hrs at least £15

yearinyearout · 06/02/2021 19:28

Assume person needs to walk home as well?

SpeckledyHen · 06/02/2021 19:29

£20

5128gap · 06/02/2021 19:30

Rawalpindi

That's why I said 'at least'.
I'm pleased there are people who don't have to take 'crummy' jobs. However sadly some do, and NMW low as it is, is better than the exploitative suggestion made by OP.

Cliffdonville · 06/02/2021 19:32

I pay my childminder £15 for this, she provides breakfast and walks DD to the school which is less than 5mins from her house.

HighSpecWhistle · 06/02/2021 19:32

So she'll get back to her car (at your house presumably?) at around 9.05.

So that's 1.5 hours approx.

Say pay is £9 an hour (working in a supermarket is around that), then minimum payment would be around £14 per session.

£5 would be taking the absolute piss. £10 still too low but perhaps ok depending on where you live and what she wants.

How much does she charge? She should be dictating the price really, not you.

SequinsAndGlitter · 06/02/2021 19:33

It's actually for me.
I've been asked to do it temporarily.
I'm unsure what to say as a lot of people are saying 'Breakfast club and childminders only cost £5-6 so that's what you should be charging.'

I was going to suggest more like what most of you have suggested but keep hearing different things. I would like to do it as would like to support the mum but don't want to take advantage of her. I have told her my expectations of pay just now in an email but if she is looking at someone to do it for £5-6 then obviously that is not do-able. Especially with the early start and unsociable hours.

MsJaneAusten · 06/02/2021 19:34

It’s a nanny role. It’s very short hours, but still a nanny role. In my area, it would be about £12ph, so £15 per shift minimum.

Nonamesavail · 06/02/2021 19:35

20

MrsMackesy · 06/02/2021 19:35

It would depend on how qualified and experienced they are, how old and the nature of the agreement. A basic starting point to work from would be the amount of time taken and the living wage rate.

Get over to the CFer thread. Seriously, don't make this your problem, she's already show you she's a total pisstaker, you do this and she will find a way to fuck you over. She'll come up with some way to stint you because she thinks her kid isn't worth but £5/hour. Cow. I'd message her back, 'Unfortunately, having looked at my calendar and commitments, I'm not going to be able to take this on, best of luck finding someone.'
Brieminewine · 06/02/2021 19:36

£20, it’s unsocial hours and a lot of responsibility.

A fiver is what you pay the neighbours kids to ‘wash’ your car 😂

rawalpindithelabrador · 06/02/2021 19:40

If she told you between £5 and £10 is too high she's told you all you need to know.

cansu · 06/02/2021 19:42

It depends on lots of things.
Most people would want about 15.00 I expect. It is really difficult to find people to do this kind of thing reliably. I would probably expect to pay 20.00 to find someone who is prepared to do it.
