Needing someone to come to the house at 7.30AM, look after a 7 year old and walk 7 year old to school for 8.45AM.
£5 too low, £10 too high?

OP posts:
Inthemuckheap · 06/02/2021 18:56

It's almost 2 hours work. They'd need to arrive just before 7.30 and then a further 20 minutes back to your house so finishing 9.15ish. If self employed £30 a day, if you employ them then £20+,

You wouldn't be suggesting cash in hand would you?

katy1213 · 06/02/2021 18:57

You'd pay more than that for someone to walk a dog. Or babysit a sleeping child with a bottle of wine thrown in.
Would you get up at that time of the morning for a fiver?

Actupfishy · 06/02/2021 18:57

15 I think is fair

Nenevalleykayaker · 06/02/2021 18:58

£100 a week to look after a child from 7.30am to 8.45am ?

Wish I could find that kind of work near me.

BasinHaircut · 06/02/2021 18:58

As a regular gig you might find someone to do it for £15/day - £75/week.

As a one off I’d probably expect to pay £20.

Think about what you are actually asking of this person.

katy1213 · 06/02/2021 19:00

I bet you'll come back and claim they're unreliable!

YouDoNotHaveTheAuthority · 06/02/2021 19:00

Im thinking £15/20 a day too.

PanamaPattie · 06/02/2021 19:02

I wouldn't get out out bed for your job for less than £25 a day.

WhySoSensitive · 06/02/2021 19:02

£3
A cup of tea on arrival.
A Mars bar for the walk.

RJnomore1 · 06/02/2021 19:03

Is it a one off or a regular event?

£20 for a one off but I’d say £60/70 for a week.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 06/02/2021 19:03

I think my mum paid £5 for this in 1991.

5128gap · 06/02/2021 19:04

You should pay at least NMW rate for the age of the person.

SantaMonicaPier · 06/02/2021 19:05

I'd be expecting to pay around £15 a day given the time required.

hiredandsqueak · 06/02/2021 19:06

I would think £20 would be the minimum anyone would want to do that for.

Neenan · 06/02/2021 19:06

Is this one of those reverse thingies and CF is not the OP but the child minder?

BellaVita · 06/02/2021 19:07

£15-£20

Neenan · 06/02/2021 19:07

I mean the op is the child minder

LowlandLucky · 06/02/2021 19:08

SequinsandGlitter how much are you paid for 1.5 hours work ? Well you have answered your own question. I can't believe you would even consider offering a £5, that is CFery

itwaseverthus · 06/02/2021 19:08

People are happy to pay cleaners to wash their floors more than they'll pay to take care of their kids. Nuts.

Standrewsschool · 06/02/2021 19:09

£20. The child may be at school, but the person still needs to walk back to the starting point.

itwaseverthus · 06/02/2021 19:10

So this person potentially leaves their house at 7 to get to yours for 7.30, get's home around 9/9.15. Over two hours out of their day for a fiver. Dearie me.

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 06/02/2021 19:10

I would charge you £25 for this, (nanny with 25 years experience, enhanced DBS and first aid cert.). I live in the South East if that's relevant.

DavidsSchitt · 06/02/2021 19:11

£20

Mumof1andacat · 06/02/2021 19:12

I pay £5.50 for breakfast club 07:45-08:45. I would say a childminder would charge more say £8

SpringIsComingAlways · 06/02/2021 19:13

Minimum of £15 - more like £20
