Needing someone to come to the house at 7.30AM, look after a 7 year old and walk 7 year old to school for 8.45AM.
£5 too low, £10 too high?

OP posts:
FrankButchersDickieBow · 06/02/2021 18:05

I would pay £15 per hr if I was entrusting sole custody of my child to someone.

LittleOwl153 · 06/02/2021 18:05

But would need to walk back to the house if say her car was parked there or she lived on that street/nearby.... so needs to get back to start doesn't she/he?

Floralnomad · 06/02/2021 18:06

The person may not need to return to your house but they still need to get back to theirs . I would say £20 per day .

Comefromaway · 06/02/2021 18:06

I’d say a minimum of £10 per hour.

So 7.30am - 8.45 would be £12.50

Thebusiness · 06/02/2021 18:06

£15-£20. There would be no point in someone doing it for less than that.

Duckberg · 06/02/2021 18:07

£20 a day. The hours are very inconvenient.

Dutchesss · 06/02/2021 18:08

Person doing it is an adult, qualified ,with full dbs. Would not need to return to the house as child is at school.
School is 20 minutes walk away.

So you realise £10 would be below minimum wage?

ScottishStottie · 06/02/2021 18:09

What world do you live in to think that £10 is too much for this??

BillyIsMyBunny · 06/02/2021 18:09

Where do they live in relation to your house? You say they wouldn’t have to return to your house after drop off but if they have parked their car there in the morning or if the walk home from school is significantly longer than the walk home from your house you ought to include it. I think I would at least assume the job to be 7:30 - 9 as you never know what might happen to delay drop off by 5 minutes or so. Paying 1.5 hours at minimum wage (£8.72) would be £13.08 but if the person is qualified and as they’re unsociable hours and presumably term-time only I would pay £15 a day.

unchienandalusia · 06/02/2021 18:09

Wow. You expect to pay £2.50 per hour??? Give your head a wobble. £20 minimum.

Nohomemadecandles · 06/02/2021 18:10

£15-20
They'll presumably need to walk the 20 mins back from whence they came? £5 is insulting, tbh

stablefeet · 06/02/2021 18:10

It's over an hour's work, plus they have the time taken to get to and from their home. Are they self employed? If they are they will have a rate.

LApprentiSorcier · 06/02/2021 18:11

I'd do it for £20 (but I have no qualifications or childcare experience).

Therealone · 06/02/2021 18:12

I'd be asking for £20.

Malibu295 · 06/02/2021 18:15

£20 - £25 a day. I have no childcare experience but it wouldn't be worth it for £10 unless it was for family etc?

3JsMa · 06/02/2021 18:15

Depends where you are and who is doing it.
I would say £15 minimum as it practically 1.5 hours.

Inpersuitofhappiness · 06/02/2021 18:16

Are you having a fucking laugh?
That's not even minimum wage. This is a person with DBS who you want to be responsible for your child.

£15-20 per morning sounds more like it.
A fucking fiver!!?
I sincerely hope that whoever they are can set some good boundaries cos you'll take the right piss if you can.

BumBurnerBum · 06/02/2021 18:17

Seriously OP, how could you even consider £5???

Aprilx · 06/02/2021 18:19

@SequinsAndGlitter

Person doing it is an adult, qualified ,with full dbs. Would not need to return to the house as child is at school. School is 20 minutes walk away.
They still need to walk there and back. £5 is absurd, so is £10, I think £20 is reasonable.
Twistered · 06/02/2021 18:19

£20.

Can't believe you are actually questioning if £10 is too much

SingingLoud · 06/02/2021 18:21

It's 1hr 15mins work, at what is an inconvenient time for lots of people.

And depending on how close you lived to me I'd be taking my travel time into account too. You'd have to make it worthwhile.

I think you'll end up having to pay at least £15, I personally wouldn't do it for less than £20.

Inpersuitofhappiness · 06/02/2021 18:21

Hmm honestly I've never been so shocked by someone's tightarsed-ness in my life.

A fiver!

Fucking hell.

Howshouldibehave · 06/02/2021 18:21

£15/20. It’s crappy hours-I wouldn’t want to do it.

Aiaiaicorona · 06/02/2021 18:23

£15

Panpig · 06/02/2021 18:24

£25+!
