Call me nosey but at 25 I’d not quite got into the sector I’m in now and at 35, I’d already started on my career path. Went to university, had my kids afterwards, but was done by the time I was 30yrs old. I’ll start £19,000 and £30,000. I will admit that it has accelerated since. But more interested in those crucial child rearing years between 25-35.

At 25 I was on 38k at the end of a graduate training program.

At 35, £90k. But in terms of the crucial child bearing years my salary hasnt increased (except an inflation uplift) in the last 4 years while I have been in and out having kids. It's fallen behind market a bit and I will talk to my boss about that at the next review. My boss is quite reasonable though and my employer has historically given more when I've demonstrated that my pay is behind market.

Wolfcub · 05/02/2021 13:27

25 about 15k maybe a bit less
35 about 32k maybe

princesspenny · 05/02/2021 13:27

Similar to you OP, at 25 was in low level dead end admin job earning approx 15K, went back to uni at 28 to retrain, at 35 earning 35K

Rhayader · 05/02/2021 13:30

25 - £36k
30 - £55k

I’m on maternity leave now (31) and I’m going back part time so I will be on about £33k. At 35 I might have given up work as we are considering moving abroad and it would be tricky for me to work there.

AbstractHeart · 05/02/2021 13:30

£30k for both, but at 25 I was working full time (more like 60 hours a week actually!), whereas at 35 I was only working 3 days a week.

yeOldeTrout · 05/02/2021 13:32

25: 14k?
35: 14k (part-time)
45: 1 k
55: hoping for 42k or so

adjusted for inflation maybe age 25 was worth 28k in today's money?

irishgal85 · 05/02/2021 13:32

Age 25 29k

Age 35 25k part time (3days a week)

Lobsterquadrille2 · 05/02/2021 13:33

25 - £25k
35 - £60k

Fourcolourpens · 05/02/2021 13:36

25 - £35k
35 - £75k

Freshair85 · 05/02/2021 13:38

Now on mat leave

iolaus · 05/02/2021 13:39

At 25 I think I was on about 24K
At 35 about 38K

JaninaDuszejko · 05/02/2021 13:39

25 £6-7k PhD bursary (so no tax or NI and better off than most PhD students because my research council paid more than average)
35 ~£33k with no DC
50 ~£50k, 3DC, work PT

DaphneBridgerton · 05/02/2021 13:39

25 - £32,000
32 - £85,000

Handmaid2019 · 05/02/2021 13:41

25 - £12,000 assistant manager in a travel agency.

35 my age now - £32000 ward sister Grin

FluffMagnet · 05/02/2021 13:42

25 - 18k
35 - 61k
Had a baby in those years, applied for promotion during mat leave and got it, which bumped my salary up £15k. Pretty surprised (in a good way!) as have previously been discriminated against just for being in child bearing "danger zone". Obviously different employer!

Pootle40 · 05/02/2021 13:42

25-£25k
35-£40k
45-£60k

lavendervay · 05/02/2021 13:43

Cant quite do the same maths because I'm still only 30 but...
22: £18k
30: £45k

VodselForDinner · 05/02/2021 13:44

25- about £30/32k
35- £96k

I spent those “crucial child-reading years” working Grin

Ginfordinner · 05/02/2021 13:45

Goodness. I have no idea how much I was earning 37 years ago. At 35 (27 years ago) I think I was on about £20k with a company car, but I really don't remember. I'm in a part of Yorkshire where average wages for what I do are about £26k.

Why are there so many how much do you earn threads on MN?

Yewrobin · 05/02/2021 13:47

25 about 22k
33 about 50-85k self employed so variable
35 £0k SAHM

Aprilx · 05/02/2021 13:47

At 25 - £21k had just qualified in my profession

At 35 - £77k. I remember the very specific figure as I changed jobs this year and I remember talking them up from £75k.

I am 50 now.

MrsSimonBasset · 05/02/2021 13:50

Nurse - At 25 23k ish
At 35 31k but I’d had to do an extra degree to go up bands for the promotion.

CheddarGorgeous · 05/02/2021 13:51

25 - £60k including bonuses

35 - £35k

Impact of motherhood and the economy tanking in the meantime. It's taken me 10 years to get back up to my 25 years old earnings

tactum · 05/02/2021 13:53

25 yes ago, management

25 - £25k
35 - £40k - despite having 2 maternity leaves and 'crucial child rearing' to do
