i would push old ladies out of the way to get edamame salad with chilli dressing

bubblerock · 31/10/2007 14:40

Their thin ham is gorgeous!

UnquietDad · 31/10/2007 14:41

It's very nice but rather over-priced.

I like M&S though. M&S and John Lewis - best places in town to spot classy good-looking women.

EmsMum · 31/10/2007 14:42

Nicer than any other supermarket at any rate.

superwitch · 31/10/2007 14:43

I'm having thin ham with coleslaw now

Not sure about classy women though I through up just outside this morning morning sickness!!!

Morrocan Style Cous Cous my fave thing at mo!

Don't thnk it that overpriced I can do weeks food shopping in there for same price as I used to at Waitrose and end up throwing less away!

HairyIrene · 31/10/2007 14:45

thats common misconception UD
its not imho
used to all my shopping there and quality reigns

staff were nice too in me local
ahhhh

overpacakaged though...

happystory · 31/10/2007 14:46

We're getting a 'Simply Food' M&S literally at the end of the road and we are sooooo excited!!

(sad little life I lead!)

i agree with it being good value, no waste, does anyone know if they are going to do online grocery ordering ever?

lapsedrunner · 31/10/2007 15:06

We live abroad but can get Channel 4 so have the torture of having to watch the wonderful M&S food adverts but we can't go and buy any .

OozingSlashesFromTigerFeet · 31/10/2007 15:06

I work for the company that makes the Deli Coleslaw

You're right though, it is loads better than any other. The Potato Salad is pretty lush too. mmmm

BroccoliSpears · 31/10/2007 15:06

The only trouble with M&S is that it doesn't sell ingredients. I do love their endemame salad. Mmm. And their dark chocolate ginger biscuits. Mmm.

SueBarooooItslikeaWarzone · 31/10/2007 15:09

oo, I completely disagree. I always think it's going to be fabulous, and I'm always slightly disappointed.

HairyIrene · 31/10/2007 15:11

broccolispears..our own sort of did ..what do you mean exactly..
the biscuits are fab, dark organic ones just luverly

and vegetarian selection of prepared stuff makes you lazy...

perpetualworrier · 31/10/2007 15:23

Friday night in our house is M&S ready meal night and we look forward to it all week

After DC's are in bed, DH and I dress up as if for a night out, have something from the cook range and share a bottle of wine.

We say it's better and much cheaper than any of the restaurants round here. I know it's very sad, but we love it.

LoveAngel · 31/10/2007 15:24

I have a weird fondness for thier nasty little party bites selections, like the stuffed vine leaves, the little mini sausage rolls and tartlets...that sort of thing. I usallly HATE this sort of thing, but at M&S its strangely yummy.

Their raspberry pavlova is gorge, too, and their kids ready meals are good for when you just can't be arsed (which sometimes I can't be, a cardinal sin on MN I know!). Oh, and they always do lush graoes (I am a grapes conniseur!)

Agree the packagng is way over the top at Marks, though.

ScottishMummy · 31/10/2007 15:24

Naw the best food is home made.supermarket food is soylent green

francagoestohollywood · 31/10/2007 15:38

I love the Tuna pate.
Also the qualilty of the fish (the one you have to cook at home ) is higher than other supermarkets. and the avocados. and cherrys when it's summer, though impossibly expensive. and the mozzarella di bufala is great. I love M&S!!!

MaryAnnSingletomb · 31/10/2007 15:49

the jelly with raspberries in is lovely !

MaryAnnSingletomb · 31/10/2007 15:49

am also partial to the coffee swiss roll

LoveAngel · 31/10/2007 15:59

The trifle. The raspberry royale trifle. The desserts full stop. (Can you tell I am on a diet?)

The food porn adverts are cringy though

goingfor3 · 31/10/2007 16:03

I love M&S food. It's really not overpriced for what you get. There are always offers like half price chickens at the moment and the prices on quite a few itmes have dropped.

SueBarooooItslikeaWarzone · 31/10/2007 16:04

oh, you bunch of Dervla Kirwan wannabes.
