Skirts or dresses with decent pockets are rare and beautiful things

Just got some dresses and a skirt from Harkel (sale). Decent pockets in all and I was more excited about that, and the fact they were properly constructed and adequately deep - than any other aspect. They were also colourful and nice cotton and fit me, so yes, all good.

Why don't decent pockets come as standard?

Couldn’t agree how annoying it is when

Couldn’t agree more, apart from Cos - all their skirts and dresses do Smile proper ones too and really nicely hidden!

It is a bit expensive but they have loads of sales and I’ve had some bargains

Flowersandjellybeans · 03/02/2021 22:01

*annoying when clothes don’t

hoxt · 03/02/2021 22:02

LF Markey does good pockets.

FlemCandango · 03/02/2021 22:03

Cos - ok I will bear that in mind. Can't justify buying more dresses at the moment 🤔

Agree. Even jeans rarely seem to have decent pockets these days. Bought a pair from fatface that seemed identical to a pair from 5 years ago, apart from the pockets have gone from normal size to minute!

oldyellerbeller · 03/02/2021 22:04

oh yes, nothing better than proper pockets!

Naticus · 03/02/2021 22:05

Popsy for dresses (although patterns might not be to everyone's taste)

toconclude · 03/02/2021 22:06

I find they often make things sit wrong, especially side seam pockets. Mostly because I have a fat arse...

Sparklesocks · 03/02/2021 22:06

It’s a huge conspiracy to make us buy handbags

Boden dresses have pockets.

CaptainSirTomMooreismyhero · 03/02/2021 22:09

I don't have any dresses with pockets in them. I agree they are probably are rare.

Cocomarine · 03/02/2021 22:09

@toconclude I’m with you! There’s been so much, “oooooh pockets!” recently... I just received a dress that I had no idea had pockets. A style that wouldn’t have before. Sending it back because my hips are wide enough without 2 extra layers of fabric folded inside and an opening to bulge, just where I don’t need it. I was quite cross!

Pockets in everything!!!

IHaveBrilloHair · 03/02/2021 22:17

Superdry dresses have pockets but a lot of people on here seem to dismiss that brand.

FlemCandango · 03/02/2021 22:17

My hips are wide my arse is round and I still love a good pocket. Not having pockets don't make my hips any different just means I have no where to put things/ hands/ purse when I go to the bar... One day I will go to a bar again.

Brakeburn dresses also have pockets, decent proper pockets!

Pukkatea · 03/02/2021 22:19

Yeah I've never understood this obsession with pockets...I don't like carrying stuff in my pocket. Handbags are so much better.

bakingdemon · 03/02/2021 22:19

Toast is excellent for things with pockets

I came to say Popsy too. Great pockets.
Wacky patterns though!

impressivelycunty · 03/02/2021 22:22

Toast pinafore dresses are pocket heaven!

Lonecatwithkitten · 03/02/2021 22:28

User0ne · 03/02/2021 22:28

Ness skirts are great for pockets (and I have hips and a bum)

wonkylegs · 03/02/2021 22:35

I struggle to find good pockets so was astounded to find my new pjs have great pockets. Not sure why though as it's the one outfit I'm quite happy to not have any!!!!
