Mr tumble drama

So old CBeebies presenter (Sarah-Jane if anyone remembers the olden days of CBeebies) is in the newspapers saying she was best friends with mr tumble but he completely ghosted her after cbeebies sacked her (without even letting her know) when she did an underwear photo for animal rights.
Now mr tumbles mum is in the papers saying its a load of rubbish.
I used to see a lot of CBeebies back then and realised I never noticed that Sarah-Jane disappeared or read about this at the time.
AIBU to think they were a bit harsh and that mr tumble shouldn’t have ignored her?

@Latenightreader

I’m convinced that one of the CBeebies presenters who does the bits between programmes is high most of the time (possibly to cope with the material?) - she has a over energised glint in her eye... Evie?

I don’t think I have a CBeebies crush, must work on that. I’d quite like Duggee to come and wear out my toddler though.

For no good reason, I have taken a real dislike to Evie. Ben is a sweetheart though. I don't mind a bit of Nigel too.
Pinkywoo · 03/02/2021 21:05

"My husband has a thing for Captain Captain. To be fair, she has some moves when dancing!"

@BrumBoo he needs to watch Hansel and Gretel, she's amazing in it!

merryhouse · 03/02/2021 21:05

Cliff has always denied being gay. The official line is that he lives with a companion (a previous companion lived there with his mother and at one point his girlfriend: make of that what you will).

He's had girlfriends that he "hasn't loved enough to marry" (including Sue Barker, yes).

tinylittleyou · 03/02/2021 21:06

I really like Nigel from baby club too, definitely one of the good ones

I went to school with Mr bloom he was a few years younger than me and yes he is cornish

Pebbledashery · 03/02/2021 21:09

Sorry... But Mr Tumbles mum??? Grin

Cocolapew · 03/02/2021 21:09

Sarah Jane was very annoying but not as bad as Funny Lady from Teletubbies.
Robbie Rotten from Lazytown died a couple of years ago from cancer.

TheoriginalLEM · 03/02/2021 21:13

Well this thread has made me happy because i was convinced she had passed away Shock

norwegianwoodpecker · 03/02/2021 21:14

I reckon she's trying to spark some interest and reignite her career

Pinkywoo · 03/02/2021 21:15

Mr Tumble's mum, she didn't look like this did she?

I worked with Mr Maker in his pre-maker days at Disney, he was mostly dressed in a massive chicken suit. Well it kind of looked like a chicken, not sure what it was!! He was lovely to work with, could never get a girlfriend as I remember.

I worked in art dept. / costume and have worked with so many horrible actors/presenters. Often the nicer their on screen persona the nastier they were in real life, some had all sorts of odd rules like you weren’t allowed to make eye contact (as if they were Tom Cruise) 🙄 or touch their costume (even if like me you were the standby costume assistant) 🙄 Probably 5% were totally lovely and lots of fun to work with, the rest could make your life a misery

PeggyHill · 03/02/2021 21:17
@PeggyHill I don’t believe for a second that the BBC just ghosted her.

But even if they did, what the hell did she expect, getting her breasts out in public when she’s supposed to be a wholesome children’s tv presenter?
Yes, it does sound odd tbh. They will have a huge legal and hr team to deal with stuff like that. I can't see them breaking the rules for no good reason. They'd be exposing themselves to a world of legal trouble.

As for her getting her breasts out... it was the early 00s. just be glad she wasn't waving a rampant rabbit around and shouting about her clitoris. I don't remember the era particularly fondly...

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 03/02/2021 21:21

I think the real reason she disappeared from screens was because she was the lead in the truly awful CBeebies series Mighty Mites - possibly the only programme I ever turned off during the toddler years

zen1 · 03/02/2021 21:26

As long as no one has a bad word to say about Chris Jarvis, I can rest easy. He must have been doing children’s tele for coming up 30 years!

EmJay19 · 03/02/2021 21:29

We had nothing but that on over Christmas! My younger one was obsessed... and his dad didn't mind it too much Angry Grin.
GoryGilmore · 03/02/2021 21:37

Ooh I love Chris Jarvis too. I like all of the CBeebies presenters really, with one exception. Pui Fan Lee. I really want to like her, but I can’t work out whether she’s just really annoying or whether it’s the parts that she is given that are really annoying. Either way, I have to turn her off!

GoryGilmore · 03/02/2021 21:39

DH (who normally leaves the room when CBeebies is on) really enjoyed watching the Christmas show this year, I think he would quite like a good scolding off Jiffy the Elf!

Oh thank god. I love him. I'm embarrassed, but I do.
Luckyrabbitfoot · 03/02/2021 21:42

Ben started on CBeebies as my DD started watching it. Lord, he was terrible. I have no idea how he got that gig. He had improved so much now though (and DD doesn’t watch it any more Sad). I feel like I have watched his journey and it makes me feel oddly protective of him Grin

Hired eye candy Grin. He is bloody gorgeous tbh, genuinely the most beautiful eyes on telly Blush. He's much more confident now, to be fair - I think it was just nerves to start with. I loved his 'all about me' bits recently, really quite moving hearing him talk about his background.

So pleased to read this. I have had a soft spot for him since I was at uni in the 90s! He was hilarious with Josie D’Arby.

tolerable · 03/02/2021 21:46

@RickJames (and others) - THIS alone justifies ever having the fear of missing out.
sort of.
i didnt read the article.cos.o dont care....presumeably his mum was bored.
I live in fear my son EVER realises mr tumble was all of the characters. i bin carryin that secret for more than 20yrs bairns....(ok,10 really)my ds1 saw krankies in panto when was 3.hes 25 and still wont accept that was who the wee boy was.//unforgiven

trunumber · 03/02/2021 21:46

@Mandalakia

Snog - Line from cook and line Marry - Ben Avoid - Mr Tumble!

I also have a thing for Andy, Rory, Sid, JB and wouldn't say no to Katy either.

Katy is HOT, like weirdly hot for a kids programme. Whenever I see her I'm baffled at how she manages to be so sexy when doing something so ridiculous
