Mr tumble drama

So old CBeebies presenter (Sarah-Jane if anyone remembers the olden days of CBeebies) is in the newspapers saying she was best friends with mr tumble but he completely ghosted her after cbeebies sacked her (without even letting her know) when she did an underwear photo for animal rights.
Now mr tumbles mum is in the papers saying its a load of rubbish.
I used to see a lot of CBeebies back then and realised I never noticed that Sarah-Jane disappeared or read about this at the time.
AIBU to think they were a bit harsh and that mr tumble shouldn’t have ignored her?

Knowing "Mr Tumble" as I do - I can well believe he did.

baffledcoconut · 03/02/2021 21:58

Wait. Mr Tumble had a thing with Sue Barker? Shock

Rysimo · 03/02/2021 21:59

Nigel, beautiful, beautiful Nigel sighs

DobbyTheHouseElk · 03/02/2021 22:00

I’ve met Pui fan Lee too. She’s nice, but not as lovely as Chris. I don’t think you can fake that sort of joy. He’s just so lovely. Interested and engaging. Happy to chat and answer our random questions with great detail. In fact it is hard to stop him chatting. I wanted to hug him Blush

@Butchyrestingface

Justin Fletcher is a god amongst men. I will hear no wrong spoken of him. He is the practically the only thing I miss about having teenagers who would never in a million years watch CBeebies. That and bedtime at 7pm.

The high prince is not averse to a bit of scandal and intrigue himself. I well remember (going back a bit here) when he set the cat amongst the pigeons by mis-signing the sign for 'happy' and it came out as a regional variation for 'sex'.

In Scotland same sign used to mean 'to meet' but I rarely see it used anymore.

I love that there are regional variations in sign, and that some signs go out of fashion.

Didn't Katy have some difficult child custody case in the past? I like her a lot. Pleased for all the Ben and Nigel love too.

Haggisfish · 03/02/2021 22:11

Yes she did. She moved to nz I think with her partner and had a son and then the partner became horribly abusive. I hope she’s ok now.

Yes, her ex husband is a massive Father's for Justice fan Hmm. Reading the court case leaves me cold, poor woman.

DH and I have invented a (very dull) game where you have to guess whether the links between shows were filmed pre or post COVID. The night ones are the hardest to judge sometimes.

StanfordPines · 03/02/2021 22:23

@zen1

As long as no one has a bad word to say about Chris Jarvis, I can rest easy. He must have been doing children’s tele for coming up 30 years!
I was thinking that. He was on when I was a teen and I’m 46.
StanfordPines · 03/02/2021 22:26

I heard an interview with an ex CBeebies presenter, I don’t remember who, who was now embarking on a stand up comedy career. She said they there was a drink trolly that did the rounds on a Thursday and they were all pissed as farts.

gildalilly · 03/02/2021 22:28

Mr Tumble always makes me think of Gary Barlow.

MossandRoy · 03/02/2021 22:35

I've done a few jobs with a few of the cbeebies presenters. A while ago though.
Mr tumble is definitely a dick. Andy (as in Alex and Andy) is a bit miserable. Alex is fun and friendly , and Katie (from I can cook) is up for a laugh. Those are the ones that stick in my mind.

HarrysWife · 03/02/2021 22:37

@gildalilly Mr Tumble always makes me think of Gary Barlow.

Is it his spotty bag?

Ltdannygreen · 03/02/2021 22:43

Can’t stand the guy, he’s always gave me the Heebie jeebies, I know some people that met him and said he was a bit pompous. Just goes to show some people are excellent actors 😂

hiccupgate · 03/02/2021 22:56

@x2boys

I remember the thread about Andy from Cbeebies ( is he still around ?) Looking just like Fatima Whitbread ,once you see it you can't unsee it😂
This is gold 🤣🤣
grandmasterstitch · 03/02/2021 23:00

Ben is my CBeebies crush. Unfortunately DS has taken a liking to tractor videos on YouTube so I haven't seen CBeebies for months Sad

Waspnest · 03/02/2021 23:00

Oh I loved Chris and Pui. We still say 'Oh my woolly word' in that silly accent. I miss the CBeebies days. CBBC is no where near as good there is a special place in hell for whoever commissioned The Next Step .

Whyismycatanasshat · 03/02/2021 23:07

I can also confirm Chris Jarvis is lovely on and off screen.

mrsnibblesisahero · 03/02/2021 23:22

Mr Bloom is a very nice man, really, and has a lovely wife. Good people, creative and arts-y, and quite shy, but really nice.

spaceghetto · 03/02/2021 23:40

I imagine mum is going to get a proper telling off. I hope Mr Tumble calls her but still has time for a quick "hello, hello, how are you? Hello, hello, it's nice to see you" before he lays into her

Riddikulussness · 03/02/2021 23:46

We saw Sarah-Jane in panto about 10 years ago, playing the fairy godmother with some other minor ‘slebs’ including Peter Duncan and some others that I can’t recall. The only reason she and this particular panto stand out in my memory is because she looked more like a glamour model than a pre-school presenter and was trying far too hard to be sexy. Fake tan and huge glittery boobs busting out of her costume. Not at all like dippy Sarah-Jane from CBeebies. She was selling signed programmes in the foyer in full costume, with an actual bodyguard. There is a photo of my kids with her somewhere as they wanted to queue for one. I’d put money on it that she wanted a lad mag following (which was still a huge, lucrative thing back then) but it backfired

Frickssake · 03/02/2021 23:48

can't find the reply now on here ( a few pages in I think ) BUT

If you or your friend DID go on a date with Mr T YOU CANT LEAVE IT THERE

( am sure there are MN rules to say you can't leave people hanging for further info ..)Grin

Frickssake · 03/02/2021 23:49

In other news - didn't one of the actors from Lazytown die ( goes off to Google)

Boohooyouho · 04/02/2021 00:09

I once had a drunken smog with Andy. We were at sixth form college together. He had a shaved head in those days. My friend also knocked him out once after a row and was enraged when he saw him on CBeebies after his first child was born. Poor kids have never been allowed to watch dinosaur adventures.
