Minute Silence at 6pm for Captain Tom.

I will be standing outside my house with my head bowed to remember Tom, and all the others that have lost their lives during this pandemic due to covid directly, or indirectly.

My hands will not meet. I don’t care what Supreme Leader Johnson orders us to do.

Already on our FB residents group are the posts saying "well done to That Street, we had a great turn out!" and "thanks to everyone on The Other Street who turned out, we noticed That Road was a bit quiet though!" and "I'm disgusted that I was the only person on That There Close who came to the door!"

Already on our FB residents group are the posts saying "well done to That Street, we had a great turn out!" and "thanks to everyone on The Other Street who turned out, we noticed That Road was a bit quiet though!" and "I'm disgusted that I was the only person on That There Close who came to the door!"

That is bizarre, but so funny in an demented kind of way. Will they have produced register sheets, like in school, with residents names and the number of the house they live in? Grin

I saw an FB group shared with around 100k members, people posting videos of their children clapping, singing and even an appalling video of their Grandad playing the guitar badly in memory of the man. Why the need to share all this crap? Just do it privately.

My road is one for banging saucepans together, getting a speaker system set up and numerous musical instruments being played but nobody did anything tonight, not so as I could hear anyway.

First lockdown, one heard the clapping it like a far off but familiar sound, like the sea washing over rocks.
The first lockdown clap was in darkness.

People are over the clapping thing now.

I don't subscribe to the whole 'everyone who claps is just virtue signalling' but why are people on here so bothered by it.

Who cares if your neighbours go out and clap? Unless you are getting publicly hauled over the Facebook coals for not doing it, or fireworks and drums are disturbing your pets and kids, why is someone clapping their hands out their windows or at their doors generating so much frothing at the mouth on here.

People are so so bothered about what other people do.

I for one like the idea I heard where anyone who voted Tory in the last election should stand on their doorstep and shout 'I'm sorry!' at 8 on a Wednesday or whenever it is.

As I said on another thread - government should plant a tree for every victim of Covid - needless deaths due to their crass incompetence and unwillingness to close borders and take tough decisions.

The trees will help our environment and outlive Johnson and his cronies.

As far as I know, no one clapped around here where I live. None of my local Facebook friends have mentioned it either. Or any other Facebook friends.

Clearly not everyone is bothered about clapping. It’s sad for his family that Captain Tom is dead but he had a ‘good innings’ (apt as he was a cricket enthusiast) and he lived a full life. His death from Covid is just one out of over 100,000 deaths.
