No. I’m clapped out and will be on the tube home so it would look a bit odd.

Tilly4321 · 03/02/2021 13:45

No. I’d be more impressed if Boris pledged to raise the salaries of NHS workers, rather than cashing in, votes-wise, on this.

1Morewineplease · 03/02/2021 14:05

No

WalrusWife · 03/02/2021 14:06

No

OooErrThor · 03/02/2021 14:26

No, no clapping from me - I'm all clapped out.

whereiscaroline · 03/02/2021 14:27

Yes, I will. I think it's a fitting tribute to a man who did a lot for our country and I would like to imagine he will be looking down on us all and feeling proud.

Same
Sheleg · 03/02/2021 14:28

All this bloody clapping. Are we a nation of seals? What happened to a respectful silence for contemplation.

Houseworkavoider · 03/02/2021 14:29

I would if I thought it would help.

Happycat1212 · 03/02/2021 14:29

No

Happycat1212 · 03/02/2021 14:29

I should add I have never done the clapping thing at all

Borogroves · 03/02/2021 14:31

No but I imagine all my rule breaking neighbours will be Angry

SerialThreadHider · 03/02/2021 14:31

I swear this subject will not leave me alone. I keep hiding threads and they keep coming! Sigh

LadyFlumpalot · 03/02/2021 14:33

No, I won't. I refuse to contribute to a thought pattern that makes it ok and expected that 99 year old men have to fund raise for the NHS when the government should be the ones funding it properly.

emmathedilemma · 03/02/2021 14:35

what @LadyFlumpalot said!!

Twinkie01 · 03/02/2021 14:38

He didn't have to raise money for the NHS, he chose to, it is adequately funded, it's just run by idiots.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 03/02/2021 14:42

He won't know or be pleased about it, so what's the point?

BrumBoo · 03/02/2021 14:43

No. To be quite honest I'm not paying much attention any of it. The man did a very sweet thing, but others took advange of it for their own gain (attention and/or distraction). It was completely blown out of all proportion, mostly by a nation desperate for 'nice stories' and a government desperate to cover the shit job they were doing with PPE at the time. The reaction now is very 'Diana, Princess of Hearts' syndrome.

Very sorry that a family have lost their dad/grandad though. I will spare a thought for them at this time.

Mousehole10 · 03/02/2021 14:43

No. I didn’t clap in the first round of clapping either. Clapping does nothing. It’s annoying and a bit patronising. Also not sure why we are clapping for one man and not all who are dead. Give money to the NHS, give thanks to the scientists who are getting us out of this mess.

LunarSea · 03/02/2021 14:43

No I won't. It feels more like a populist move from Johnson than anything else. Another excuse for TV cameras to film him standing outside Downing Street and making it all about him, when there's zero credit to actually be claimed.

Yep.
NoGoodPunsLeft · 03/02/2021 14:46

@Twinkie01

He didn't have to raise money for the NHS, he chose to, it is adequately funded, it's just run by idiots.
The money he raised doesn't 'fund the NHS' anyway, it was raising money for charities linked to/benefiting employees of the NHS.

As Martin Lewis has pointed out, it's great how much has been raised for this/these charities but there are so many more who are going to cease to exist because they are getting less donations.

SageCardy · 03/02/2021 14:47

Nope.

VickyEadieofThigh · 03/02/2021 14:47

@Twinkie01

He didn't have to raise money for the NHS, he chose to, it is adequately funded, it's just run by idiots.
Strangely, however, those "idiots" have managed to do what none of Johnson's Tory donor mates - to whom he handed shedloads of public cash - ever managed.

They've rolled out the vaccination programme extremely successfully.

Just think where we might be now if Johnson hadn't just given lucrative contracts to his supportive mates and had actually thought about who might be better at each task.

Dido Harding has said today that "nobody could have foreseen the virus mutating". I don't even know where to begin with that utter LIE.

Same here.
