To ask you to help GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME!

PoorReg · 02/02/2021 13:57

3cm dilated now for over a week, had 3 sweeps, midwife said she could have broken my waters there and then if allowed, baby in perfect position, having contractions but not regular, had show, lost plug ages ago, can't bloody sleep, my hips feel like jelly inside me, and just plain miserable.

I'm now waiting on a call to be induced and have my waters manually broken, I won't need pessaries apparently. Call to come within the next few days I've been told.

So help me.... What did you do to shift a stubborn baby along? I've been told to exercise, walk etc... But weather is shit here so I'm hoping there's some other things I can do at home.

Did anything work for you? I am so miserable!

I will do anything. If you tell me sticking out your tongue and rubbing your head worked, I will try it. Anything.

(Ps I know a lot of it is old wives tales and nothing is guaranteed but if you did try something and felt it made a difference just tell me so I can do it... Please... I beg).

I don’t think it’s possible right now, but normally booking non refundable tickets for something expensive helps. Or try standing / sitting on a delicate dry clean only surface. Guaranteed to have your waters break.

With my DS I was ten days overdue and my husband’s colleague gave him a strong chilli powder. We had that in a curry for dinner that night and I went into Labour at midnight.

Tinkerbell456 · 02/02/2021 14:32

Not a Mum but imagining your discomfort. Best wishes, and baby ASAP!

StillWeRise · 02/02/2021 14:32

actually Absy, you just reminded me, that worked for DS1, I got tickets for his EDD he came 2 days before

pjani · 02/02/2021 14:34

Agree with all the nipple related advice! I did colostrum harvestin starting 37 weeks.

Pertinently, it is not recommended earlier as it can bring on labour!

First baby born 40 weeks. Second baby after colostrum harvesting born 37+5!

Legs akimbo, DH down there.

"I knew you were going to be trouble young man/young lady, now come out of there at once and go to your room"

amymel2016 · 02/02/2021 14:36

My midwife suggested a glass of Prosecco (or champagne, I don’t think the baby will have a preference on region) and a warm bath, DS1 was here within 12 hours! I think the idea is to relax and get those endorphins flowing, what makes you happy? Chocolate? Good film? Do it all! Good luck OP

R3ALLY · 02/02/2021 14:38

Orgasm rather than sex... so you don’t need DH 😙. Brings on contractions...

HappygoesLucy · 02/02/2021 14:39

Relax in a hot bath, distract yourself with a good film or read a book and then have some relaxing intimacy (not necessarily sex) with your DH. Relaxing and breathing apparently helps as the muscles and gubbins down there need oxygen and calmness to open up? I'm no expert but I've heard good things.

If your DH doesn't want sex then at least try to have an orgasm, it's not just jizz that helps. Unless you have a dashing neighbour who isn't afraid of meeting your baby a little earlier than expected.

FFSAllTheGoodOnesArereadyTaken · 02/02/2021 14:40

Another vote for orgasm here!

HappygoesLucy · 02/02/2021 14:40

Please update us though, OP! We can't all talk about you getting jizzed in /on/around without an update!

redsquirrelfan · 02/02/2021 14:41

I tried everything on this thread and none of it worked, though I think the reflexology helped for the pain when it started.

Tried walking lots
Raspberry leaf tea
Red wine
Curry
Pineapple

LouHotel · 02/02/2021 14:48

Scrub the floor on hands and knees,

Electric breast pump

Hot curry did it for me.

Is this your first baby?

whatk8ydid · 02/02/2021 14:51

Definitely try expressing (can always keep any you get in a little syringe and pop in the fridge or freezer for when little one is here too!) whilst watching your favourite film, or something that really makes you laugh. Get that lovely Oxytocin flowing. I watched 4 Weddings and a Funeral, then started on the American version of The Office. Hand expressing is just generally a really handy skill to have anyway - have popped a link to a video below that gives a good demonstration. Good luck!!

WhySoSensitive · 02/02/2021 14:52

I had clary sage bath, done my stairs eight seven thousand times and ate cake...

KarmaStar · 02/02/2021 14:52

Orange juice and cod liver oil is what I was told.I tried it,it was disgusting!but my very beautiful baby was born within six hours.

Indecisive12 · 02/02/2021 14:54

The only thing that works is sex. Or if you believe greys anatomy an orgasm will do the job if he won’t have sex.

WingingIt101 · 02/02/2021 15:00

We were told at antenatal class that it’s the hormone in semen that softens the cervix and the teacher said with a naughty wink it’s more effective if it’s swallowed!!
I think I’d rather have gone a solid month overdue that give DH a blow job whilst heavily pregnant but you did say you’d try anything!

(Your dh not mine. Obviously. 🤦‍♀️)

DimidDavilby · 02/02/2021 15:02

Fast walk, tiny jog and then a shag did it for me.

Fembot123 · 02/02/2021 15:04

Sex helped my big fat DS want out

babbaloushka · 02/02/2021 15:05

It was rocket for me! have some rocket.

Higgeldypiggeldy35 · 02/02/2021 15:08

Sex, hours of nipple stimulation, hot currys, bouncing on a ball, good luck!

Squiffany · 02/02/2021 15:10

Was it a male teacher?

It is the hormone in semen though that does it by softening the cervix. Not sure how it works if not ‘topically applies’ though. Orgasm or nipple stimulation.

Find a cobbled street and get him to drive you up and down a few times!
TreacleHart · 02/02/2021 15:14

Pineapple is supposed to help, something to do with the Bromalin.
