Would you have reported?
I'm not a fan of reporting for reporting sake so this has shocked me.
Just what outcome was expected by sending footage to his bosses?

YABU = he deserves to lose his job.
YANBU = it's batshit he kicked a snowman.

Soz if there has been a thread already.

@willFOURbagsbeenough

It's the kind of thing you'd expect a stupid teenager to do not a grown man.

He is a stupid teenager, not a grown man.

19 and about to become a father is in grown man territory rather than stupid kid.
Mummyoflittledragon · 31/01/2021 13:50

I think it was a horrible thing to do. By the look of it the snowman was on the pavement, not private property. Therefore he did nothing illegal. I also think the DM sad face is ridiculous but I can understand with his background why he is no longer required. I don’t think he should lose his job over this incident. But it sounds as if he has wider issues than this. His family has blocked him, which would perhaps seem to indicate they’ve also had enough.

Sinful8 · 31/01/2021 13:50

I get the feelig thier bin will never be emptied if its even a mm open from now on

Tiktokersmiracle · 31/01/2021 13:50

Thing is you do get some bloody nasty binmen
I had one physically run at me with his fist raised, it was only because I put my bin in the way of him hitting me he couldn't get close enough.
All I had done was pop out to ask why he had walked straight past my bin. Literally just said "hi, is there an issue with taking my bin, you walked past it" as I thought DPs car was in the way of pushing it to the truck. He turned, shouted at me to "fuck off" and when I said "there's no need to be rude, ai just asked why you didn't take my bin, mate" and then next I knew I had to move a bin to stop him punching me.
In that case, he argued I had been rude and swore at him. Utter rubbish (excuse the pun). My neighbor saw what happened and backed me up and he was sacked but at first they sided with him.
That level of aggression from him over a snowman apparently getting in his way is a giant red flag. His attitude since of swearing and refusing to apologise like a petulant child re-enforces to me he shouldn't be in a potentially customer facing role.

davidsSchitt · 31/01/2021 13:51

That's no way to behave at work. It's no way to behave full stop.

But then he was lucky to have been at work and not in prison where he should be.

No sympathy at all.

minniemango · 31/01/2021 13:51

@gannett

Going out of your way to try to make someone lose their livelihood is a far more despicable act than kicking a snowman.

What this boils down to is that some people absolutely need to feel that others, especially in service industries, are beneath them and at their mercy. It's a contemptible way to think.

Doesn't sound like anyone went out of their way to make him lose his job (other than him) though?
Sinful8 · 31/01/2021 13:51

Sounds exactly like a stupid kid situation to be i

willFOURbagsbeenough · 31/01/2021 13:51

Clearly not! Grin

davidsSchitt · 31/01/2021 13:52

"His family has blocked him, which would perhaps seem to indicate they’ve also had enough."

The snowman's family blocked him 😂

Whatisapension · 31/01/2021 13:52

@SupermarketStress

The compo face on that overweight kid has made me laugh for a few days though!

But seriously, what entitled message are the parents sending to “wee Jimmy” or whatever his name is? “Oh don’t worry, we have it on film, the bad man will get sacked” Hmm

😂😂 That was my first thought. Strategically placed bit of ‘destroyed’ snow too. 10/10 for the DM sad face
DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 31/01/2021 13:52

The guy should have had more concern for his own livelihood. Not the mother's fault at all. Bloody right I would complain as well.

That would be incredibly stupid of the council given the publicity they’ve already had over this. Why would they want to give themselves more negative attention?
Teardrop2021 · 31/01/2021 13:54

The family sold their story and provided cctv footage. They should be ashamed of themselves over someone losing paid work. Especially posing for their photos. The snowman was on the path not their property and was made sunday this happened to Tuesday. Reading the commenting if anything they made themselves look silly.

DaisyHeadMaisy · 31/01/2021 13:54

He looked so aggressive in the video, I very much doubt this is the first time he has acted like a twat while on the job.

littleloopylou · 31/01/2021 13:55

The family is a bunch of weirdos for making such a big issue of it.

The guy should have behaved better at work and I have zero sympathy for him.

There are no heroes here.

willFOURbagsbeenough · 31/01/2021 13:56

Btw the snowman wasn’t in his way at all. He wasn’t kicking it because he was pissed off. It was clearly boredom + opportunity.

Lockheart · 31/01/2021 13:57

The man is clearly a right twat. Not just for the snowman incident but for the various things he's done previously.

Who goes around kicking things just because you can? Seriously.

I can't say I'd have hired him in the first place so I wouldn't need to fire him.

Perhaps if he doesn't want to lose employment he should learn to control his urge to be a thug.

I’d say the other way around. Watching the video the guy in charge who comes running down afterwards to speak to him looked pretty horrified at what he had done.
OakSnows · 31/01/2021 13:58

@Brunt0n

Nah not feeling any sympathy for this guy

“Last July he was slapped with a 12-month community order, 120 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £250 for attacking a barman and headbutting two police officers in a drunken rage.”

Sounds like he’s got issues

This. It sounds like the agency he worked for were looking for a reason to get rid of him and he gave it to them.
minniemango · 31/01/2021 13:59

Aggressive men who act like twats at work discover people don't want to work with them.

Maybe if he learns this lesson at 19 he won't still be punching bar staff on nights out when he's 30...

gannett · 31/01/2021 13:59

@willFOURbagsbeenough

Going out of your way to try to make someone lose their livelihood is a far more despicable act than kicking a snowman.

Who do you think went out of their way to have him sacked? The mother of the child probably just complained about what he had done. I highly doubt she intended to have him sacked! It was the company that decided not to have him back after he swore and refused to apologise.

When you report someone in a precarious job, in this economic climate, you know full well that a likely outcome is that they get sacked (or not called back). And then milking it with the DM sad faces is just pathetic.

I'm not defending him but as unpleasant as he seems - reporting is worse.

kowari · 31/01/2021 14:00

If the snowman was on the path then the family of the child did the wrong thing blocking a footpath, it shouldn't have been there.

Ellmau · 31/01/2021 14:01

He was a jerk. I feel sorry for his unborn child and its mother.

HettieMillia · 31/01/2021 14:01

Actually it seems to me that he has a problem in controlling his behaviour, as his recent past highlights. And if the council don't want to provide him with work anymore then that's entirely up to them. I wouldn't employ him in a public facing role either.

LApprentiSorcier · 31/01/2021 14:01

None of the players in this drama cover themselves in glory.
