Just that. I like the look of it hanging over the sides. Does anyone have this? Is it too much?

Anyone else reading this feeling like they've lived half a life without oversized bedding?

Honestly, it’s brilliant. I have exactly the same king size bed/super king duvet - I have the whole bed to myself but it’s still bloody lovely to always have enough duvet.

Downside of super king duvets is changing the cover - it’s like wrestling with a sail in a high wind!

I thought this was normal. We have a king size duvet on a normal double bed bed.
Keeva2017 · 30/01/2021 19:56

I’m embarrassed and ashamed that doing this has never occurred to me. It will be rectified tomorrow!

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 30/01/2021 19:59

I’ve done this for years, buy oversize duvets i thought everyone did

Jamjar77 · 30/01/2021 19:59

Yep we have king size bed and super king duvet is just right. Go for it!!

MoveAsideCherry · 30/01/2021 20:00

We did this with all our beds so king on a double, superking on a king and now we have a superking on a superking but it is such a big bed you don't get an issue!

MoveAsideCherry · 30/01/2021 20:03

And didnt fancy forking out for a super super king (emperor) duvet and duvet covers and it is more restrictive as hard to come by!

toconclude · 30/01/2021 20:05

King size on a double here. Much more comfy.

50shadesoflunacy · 30/01/2021 20:06

This is what i've done. It is bliss!

@Keeping2ChevronsApart

A spider could just as easily climb the bedframe or drop from the ceiling

No it couldnt you're a rotten liar!!

Grin

Sweet dreams!

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 30/01/2021 20:23

Lol, And didnt fancy forking out love that expression, always makes me smile

mummabubs · 30/01/2021 20:24

We have this set up and my DH still manages to steal the duvet every night! Only thing to consider is the cost of bedding is quite high, but we just have 2 duvet covers and rotate them. 😊

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 30/01/2021 20:27

Perfectly reasonable. We've got a king sized duvet on our double bed and the DCs all have double duvets (and 2 pillows) on their single beds!

Chloemol · 30/01/2021 20:27

Ihave a king size of a double. Works well

MaryMashedThem · 30/01/2021 20:29

DH has a super kingsize duvet to himself in our bed, and I have a double! It doesn't look amazing but there's no fighting over the covers and he says having a ginormous duvet makes him feel safe at night 🤷🏽‍♀️ As long as I don't have to change his duvet cover I don't care!

Londonmummy66 · 30/01/2021 20:35

I do - much more comfortable as well as there is enough to share properly.

im5050 · 30/01/2021 20:38

I always do that I just bought a new super king size duvet cover yesterday we have an American Queen size bed ( I think ) so it’s bigger than a normal bed
It’s also really deep bed so I buy 40cm deep fitted sheets as the standard size ones always ride up and come off the bed when my DH moves
I never knew you could get bigger depth size fitted sheets - I think they saved me from murdering my DH

1starwars2 · 30/01/2021 20:39

For years (probably around 12) we had a double duvet on a king size bed (including the toddler bed sharing years). I think it felt a bit wasteful to get rid of our double duvet and covers when we moved up a bed size. We bought a king size duvet a couple of years ago, and it is so good. I hadn't considered going bigger though!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 30/01/2021 20:40

Yes, I have a king size on a double, and as a child we had doubles on a single.

EvelynBeatrice · 30/01/2021 20:45

Pretty standard isn’t it? Thought advice was always to buy duvet one size bigger.

Gettinggrumpier · 30/01/2021 20:54

@Keeping2ChevronsApart

What if it touches the floor and a spider jumps aboard?!
I'm glad I am not the only one that hates bedding touching the floor. Eew Shock

I hate curtains touching the floor as well. No puddling on the floor for me!

SunsetBeetch · 30/01/2021 21:05

My bedding doesn't touch the floor. King sized duvet on a double bed - gives just a nice overhang and surplus of duvet

MirandaMarple · 30/01/2021 21:07

What size duvet should I put on a superking?!

Boomboombroom · 30/01/2021 21:09

Normal - we all have the next size up!
