To put a super king duvet on a king-size bed?

Just that. I like the look of it hanging over the sides. Does anyone have this? Is it too much?

@Filterlea

There is a size above superking - emperor, we have a emperor duvet on our superking bed, takes both of us to change it.
christ....I have to have a lie down if i deal with the superking!

A word of caution is to check your superking duvet sizes against the cover sizes....I have a lovely white hotel type one that is smaller than the actual duvet....and it bunches up inside
It's not too bad in the summer with the skimpy lightweight duvet, but the winter one looks awful shoved in.

But otherwise...always always a superking duvet! I am determined to get an Emperor sized bed in our next house, so it'll be a super king each in that case.

Yes we always did this but now have king size in king sized bed and it sucks! When I redecorate and get new bed sets I'll get super king and a new duvet!

Costacoffeeplease · 30/01/2021 18:39

We used to, we now have single quilts on a double bed. Much better, I wouldn’t go back to one quilt

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/01/2021 18:50

I think we have a single duvet on a king-size bed - at least that's what it seems like on my side. Hmm

mooloop · 30/01/2021 18:52

We have this and I would never go back! Grin

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/01/2021 18:54

We have a super king on a king size.
If we had a double I’d have a king on it. There’s never enough overhang on the ‘right’ size.

Changesareafoot · 30/01/2021 18:55

We’ve done this with a king size on a double bed. Game changer!!!! Go for it.

cheninblanc · 30/01/2021 18:57

I have a king size duvet on a double bed. Love the extra cosyness and no pulling duvet off each other!

Slub · 30/01/2021 19:04

We also have double bed/king size duvet combo. Means I can push all the duvet onto DH whilst also having window open when it's minus 4 outside

An AIBU were everyone (bar the one Arsey comment) agrees with you Result
I need to have this framed, or cast in gold.

How can I derail it? Buy a Harry Potter duvet cover?

I've been wanting to do that for ages but can never find bedding I like in superking size.

Keeping2ChevronsApart · 30/01/2021 19:21

What if it touches the floor and a spider jumps aboard?!

Good point. I'll put up a sign saying 'no spiders'

I know! You’ve achieved the mn rarity an Aibu were you emerge unscathed without your parenting being questioned

ImRealHonest · 30/01/2021 19:23

The one thing I hate about my super king sized bed is that the duvet is the right size. I want excess duvet.

Snowpatrolling · 30/01/2021 19:23

Yep I do!!! It looks fine! Nice to snuggle up and get tangled in it!!

It's so funny because this page is filled with lovely oversized bedding adverts because of algorithms!

A spider could just as easily climb the bedframe or drop from the ceiling Smile

That's fortunate because I am a terrible parent!

You tease.

You know the correct answer is 'Always go one bed-size bigger for a duvet', don't you??

Grin
LadyMayoGoodway · 30/01/2021 19:25

We’ve always done that, well my Mother had and I carried it on. Double on single when we were at home. It’s a lots nicer in winter.

Usermn78 · 30/01/2021 19:26

@SunsetBeetch hence the sign

I didn't! Although if I ever need positivity again I'll come back here and ask the same question. Resounding.

No it couldnt you're a rotten liar!!

CouldBeOuting · 30/01/2021 19:36

I always used to have a king size duvet on a standard double bed. Now I’ve upgraded my bed to a kingsize and next time I get new bedding I may well go super king bedding.
