Is having three perfumes greedy?

CrotchBurn · 30/01/2021 08:56

How many perfumes do you have? Normally I have one day perfume and one going out perfume (which is seriously underused at the moment).

Now I'm about to buy a new bottle of my usual perfume but I also want to try another one - I cant help but feel kind of greedy though?

@CrotchBurn I love this thread! I am a self-confessed 'fragranista' and have collected fragrances for many years, so no I don't think that having 4 of them is greedy.

I wore Chance eau fraiche for a few summers and always received unexpected compliments. The whole Chance 'wardrobe' is lovely.

I wore the original Allure edt in the late 1990's and on my wedding day, I also have a little bit left of Allure Sensuelle which is a beautiful scent.

I've cut back a lot in the amount I own and wear, I have 3 autumn / winter ones and a few more spring / summer ones.

Treat yourself OP, goodness knows we all need it, especially in the current situation.

50-60

Perfume brightens up my day

Bless you, I have at least six bottles on rotation, and I'm the most basic person you could meet! Go nuts, OP - three perfumes won't put you on the path to hell.

Candiscophonous · 30/01/2021 10:05

@LadyPenelope68 that is so so sweet !

LawnFever · 30/01/2021 10:07

I’ve got about 10 perfumes, mostly they’ve been presents & they last ages, never considered whether that’s too many or not!

Fruityherbaltea · 30/01/2021 10:12

I've got one perfume - Angel Muse - my favorite scent.

I don't wear it every day though.

Why would you think having 3 perfumes is greedy?

I would, but there aren't enough scents I like.

Actually, I like Rebl Fleur by Rihanna, so might ask my fiancee to get that for me again. :D

Rubyupbeat · 30/01/2021 10:14

@readyforachangemaybe
Sadly perfume does go off, which I discovered years ago. Not sure if it's just opened ones.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 30/01/2021 10:23

Glad you decided to go for it - it’s not greedy at all!

I have about 25 ish, mostly thanks to DH who loves fragrance and has a massive aftershave collection. I tend to go through phases with which one I prefer and it’s nice having the choice. Dd has just started to ask to wear them so I think she’s inherited her dads love of scents.

Lucieintheskye · 30/01/2021 10:25

3? I hope not. I've got a whole compartment in my wardrobe full, as well as some on my dressing table. Shock

Ilikeviognier · 30/01/2021 10:28

I’ve got at least 5. Would highly recommend the Ellie Saab ones Smile

InTheDrunkTank · 30/01/2021 10:30

Surely it depends on your finances. If you can comfortably afford it, why not? If your kids need new shoes and instead you've bought an expensive perfume then of course it's unreasonable.

dottiedodah · 30/01/2021 10:30

Funnily enough this was my exact problem too! Had some for Christmas and another fairly new bottle as well .However talked myself round and have ordered some on Amazon!BTW Has anyone else found perfume difficult to source lately ? Maybe Brexit? not sure .But ordered on Amazon and having to wait as Out Of Stock!

SussexBonfireViking · 30/01/2021 10:34

theres a charity near me that gets new beauty products that they sell on facebook auctions - Makeup Auction Sussex Homeless Support -
www.facebook.com/Makeup-Auction-Sussex-Homeless-Support-102005555194712/

They used to do table top sales, but covid!

there are at least 2 perfumes there if you wanted to blind buy
Molton Brown Geranium Nefertum RRP 60 starting bid 25
Milton Brown JUNIPER JAZZ RRP 85 starting bid 30

CeeceeBloomingdale · 30/01/2021 10:34

I have about 20 on the go, when I get bored of them my DDs acquire them

LaurieFairyCake · 30/01/2021 10:36

I have about 40

thetaleunfolds · 30/01/2021 10:45

I have a shelf full. Maybe 20-30? I love receiving them for birthdays/Christmas and will treat myself once a year. I work from home most of the time though so they don't get used a whole lot!

CaffiSaliMali · 30/01/2021 10:48

I have 7 although one is a very generously sized sample from a magazine.

Some are all year round scents and some are more summery ones. I love perfume, it always perks me up and it always 'fits', it's never too big, small or tight like clothes can be.

Having more than 2 perfumes isn't greedy!

diddl · 30/01/2021 11:06

I can't figure out how someone could think that three perfumes is greedy?

There must be loads of "non essentials" that people have more than three of!

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 30/01/2021 11:07

I think I have about 20 some presents but I buy my favourites if no one else does. I dont like Chanel on me though but I've never met a Narcisco I didn't like.

Fairyliz · 30/01/2021 11:10

I think it depends more on your financial situation. If you can afford it and not go into debt have as many as you like.

ParkheadParadise · 30/01/2021 11:11

I love perfume.
Right now I have 10+ bottles on the go at the one time.

VienneseWhirligig · 30/01/2021 11:13

Chance is lovely. I also love Gabrielle, Coco Mademoiselle and the Allure Sport Homme (late DH's signature, I wear it for comfort but its gorgeous).

Godimabitch · 30/01/2021 11:13

I have loads, I only wear them when I'm going somewhere nice though.

ChancesWhatChances · 30/01/2021 11:14

HmmConfused

Blakes77 · 30/01/2021 11:18

Yep, have at least 10 bottles, and I completely agree it's one of the few lockdown pleasures still available!
I mainly wear one of 4 but now and again I will get the urge for something different so I like to have the option. Wearing Coco EDT today. Never been a Chance fan, but all Chanels smell like proper perfume, as in, you can tell a Chanel.
