I was so Remain, I was devastated when we left. But the EU trying to steal our vac and casually invoking Article 16 has really left me aghast. I can't believe they are lashing out this way, I don't understand why.

OP posts:

Sorry affairs not wifes, so
Many things you can pull him up on that affect uk , his affairs don't affect me at all thats his partners concerns.

@Puzzledandpissedoff

It looks like eu and uk goverment have drawn a line under it now as such

Under the "Ireland issue" perhaps, but I'm not aware they've changed tack on the threats around blocking vaccine exports ...

They pretty much have for now. EU queen bee has said there are no plans to block the Pfizer order.

The UK have said they will help the EU will their vaccine production as much as possible. (Not sure what that means but we do make two key components of the Pfizer. So maybe that or we have warned the block could go both ways)

@donewithitalltodayandxmas
DH pretty senior in the (legal) drug world. The FDA took ages to approve AZ too.
He tells me to stay the hell out of these discussions because of confidentiality but I’m so utterly sick of those preaching about how awful the EU reaction has been when the uk has behaved awfully.
Btw I love that you’re not bothered by Boris’ affairs but don’t mention his breaking of the law. Hmm

LucyLockdown · 31/01/2021 00:30

Staunch remainer here. Would not vote to rejoin if a vote were held right now. Really horrified by this.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 31/01/2021 00:33

Suzeyshoes

I am not defending Boris's past at all or the UK's dealing in Brexit or anything else.

I am saying understand why some posters are shocked by the EU behaviour in the last 48 hours. Also their irresponsible handling of vaccine negotiations.

As for UK skipping steps. You have just shown how poorly read you are on the issue. Rather than throwing a small group of experts to poor through the data like normal. In this emergency situation we through every expert we had available at it. That was why approval was quicker. As well as analysing each stage of trials the moment they finished. Something if the EU was on the ball it would have done too.

Anyway we are not the only country to have approved any of the vaccinations we are using. So are they all wrong or cutting corners too?

marbellamarc · 31/01/2021 00:34

@Suzeyshoes so you do know about the contracts but can't divulge? DH works for MC law firm & says it's not clear 🤷🏼‍♀️

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 31/01/2021 00:35

@marbellamarc

The whole point of the EU is to protect its members.

They are failing on this hence my criticism.

Yep

@OlympicProcrastinator

However well Brexit turns out, hardline remainers will never concede one single good thing came from it, even when some positives are glaringly obvious.

However shite it is, hardline Brexiteers will never admit all the negatives, no matter how fucked up things get.

The vast majority of others, who weighed up a difficult argument and made a decision based on what they thought was best, didn’t disown our family and friends who thought differently and then got on with our lives, can see both positives and negatives but have learned to stay the hell away from any sort of reasoned discussion on here.

You won’t get what your looking for on here OP.

Exactly this OP. You won’t get what you are looking for on AIBU.

Yes of course your hubby is now a legal expert in the drug world.

Jog on you don't even know the correct word. It is pharmaceutical!

Cause he could be a lawyer representing drug dealers 😂

marbellamarc · 31/01/2021 01:04

Also bit weird that you're half French & have lived there &/or have family & friends there but you never heard negativity towards the EU?
Are we talking about France France? The one moving more to the right? The one that consistently has unfavourable views of the EU? The one with the recent violent gilets jaunes protests? But never seen or heard criticism of the EU?! We must be going to different countries.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 31/01/2021 01:05

Suzeyshoes
Convenient and he has access to all the data does he ? And proof that it happened like that?

Anyway what I think about Boris is neither here or there as its not all about him, there are loads of threads I can bash him on.
You can't tell other people there talking crap and then make quite bold statements and then hide behind confidentiality.
Eu have approved as well so guess they must be ok with the data now , which im not sure if it has changed since uk approved ?

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 31/01/2021 01:07

Also I didn't think the fda had approved , so didn't realise that

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 31/01/2021 01:09

The one that may vote in Marine Le Pen because they are unhappy with Macron and the EU. That is the one I think poster is referring too.

Suzeyshoes · 31/01/2021 01:50

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

‘You are poorly read on the issue.’

Sorry to say this but you clearly know little about the development and approval process. Can I ask how ‘read’ you are on the issue? What is your expertise? Where is your info from?
And yes I know that the industry is referred to as ‘pharmaceuticals’ but ‘real’ scientists often refer to drugs. Hmm
To suggest that the EMA had ‘a small group of experts’ is ridiculous. Are you seriously suggesting that ‘the uk threw every expert we had at the problem’ whereas the EU just sat on its back scratching its balls? 😂 FYI many of the ‘amazing’ uk scientists work hand in hand with EU scientists. And also with FDA scientists. There’s a network. And every country in the world has thrown its whole pharma expertise at the problem. Nothing in this story shows the superiority of British scientists or inferiority of EU scientists. They are all incredible.
The day before the drug was approved in the uk it was turned down by the EU because half the dossier was missing. The uk drug admin was told to approve it in no uncertain terms.

You need to know a bare minimum about the process to see what has happened. The whole thing is political and is just the thing to create a smoke screen for Boris and his incompetence.

@marbellamarc
Where did I say there was no anti EU sentiment in France? Absolutely did not say that. There is an anti EU movement like in many countries but on the whole France is pro EU. Also, nothing to do with the gilets jaunes which is generally a socialist reaction to Macrons environmental policies.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 31/01/2021 02:04

Suzeyshoes how is it political when the uk goverment said nothing on this occasion and are not the ones who have an issue with contract.
You also said the fda took a long time to approve? When did they approve it.
You haven't shown any actual sources to your claim that anyone can actually read or see , I could tell you my dh is a nuclear scientist but you don't know if I am telling truth or not .

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 31/01/2021 02:09

Also should your dh be discussing confidential matters like this with you , not really professional .?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 31/01/2021 02:19

Susie or princess Poppy as your last posters have know provide. As you know so much about the whole process. You will also know that after Brexit the EMA lost 30% of their experts. The British ones!

30% seems pretty large percentage wouldn't you say. Also why would they be reliant on such a large number of British. Maybe because we have some of the leading people in this field.

Whatever way you want to twist it. The EU countries do have some stunningly bright scientific minds but we also have too. That is why we are ahead in vaccinations. That and moving swiftly to secure contracts. Plus a sprinkling of pure luck in are investment choices 😉

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 31/01/2021 02:23

Forgot. Yes Boris and co are all to often manipulative but the last few days have shown the EU to be equally as bad.

The trying to divert blame on the UK and AZ was the smoke and mirrors. Luckily most the EU leaders and citizens have not fallen for it. I have been reading some EU newspapers and largely people have put blame in the right place.

MrsSleepyHB · 31/01/2021 02:27

We have hardly been endearing ourselves to the EU of late 😂

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 31/01/2021 02:31

I wrote

It's fecking nonsense to pretend the EU are class personified & always behave impeccably.
You'd know that if you lived in an European country or had family there

You wrote

Lol. I’m half french

What did you mean by your loling then?

Also, nothing to do with the gilets jaunes which is generally a socialist reaction to Macrons environmental policies

Mcdonald's sell burgers.

Are you claiming within the GJ movement there is high support for the EU?

marbellamarc · 31/01/2021 07:50

Also do you have relatives waiting for the vaccine because if you did it's odd you're not annoyed about the EU mismanagement.

marbellamarc · 31/01/2021 07:54

So good on them for doing their best to get what they signed a contract for

You still haven't provided any evidence why you think the contract is clear cut.
