I was so Remain, I was devastated when we left. But the EU trying to steal our vac and casually invoking Article 16 has really left me aghast. I can't believe they are lashing out this way, I don't understand why.

give it 3 months and that 3 hour blip on a Friday night will be a sub footnote

Taking a company to task over a contract may only end up being a footnote in the news but will make many companies wary of dealing with a trading block that seeks to changes the terms and conditions after the contract has been signed.

Especially when what they are doing will have a huge affect on other contracts.

MN posters speak English.
THey follow UK news

if you read the news in French or Greek or German or Portugese
you will see that the EU has fresher fish to fry than the UK

start following US news and you see how irrelevant the UK is

Listenquietly what every mn user?
Several on here have actually said they are from europe and I think the uk has a lot of european speaking people.
Im fully aware this won't make major news elsewhere , but of you think the behind in vaccinations won't be noticed by europeans I think your wrong

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 30/01/2021 22:09

Plus we are talking a out the who's statement which eventually will apply to the eu as well

lifestooshort123 · 30/01/2021 22:09

The UK has always been irrelevant to US news channels. Everywhere outside the US that doesn't directly involve the US is irrelevant. Spend some time there and see how insular their news channels are.

Not exactly a right wind paper....

I beg to differ!

I guess it depends on if they have sorted out their vaccine roll out by then.

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 22:17

It was definitely news in ROI

Have you watched US news, everywhere is irrelevant.
Although I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

So what was all the talk about "staying in the EU and commanding/leading these people from within" about if it wasn't founded on assumptions of British importance, cleverness, and exceptionalism?

Why are we meant to be astounded that newspapers in other countries are focused to a large extent on their own countries' affairs?

(And I have to admit that I get the impression that most Americans couldn't locate the continents on a map. One of the reasons for this is that it is in itself a flippin' big, wealthy, powerful place).

Plenty are not English & are bilingual and live outside of the UK.

vaccine rollout being one of them & encouraging take up in France

@ListeningQuietly

When the dust settles on the vaccines issue and lockdowns end then Brits will start to realise what they have lost by leaving the EU but too late
When the lotus-blossom blooms and the gloaming is roaming then Iceland will realise it's a shop not a country

...This is good! It's a way of sounding inscrutable without really trying.

(Love the implied threat to my country, by the way).

UnityUnited · 30/01/2021 22:28

US news doesn’t care about anywhere other than the US. I remember being agog when I saw a report about a landslide in Bangladesh and they reported how no US citizens had been affected.

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 22:28

@ListeningQuietly where are you from?

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 30/01/2021 22:34

If you think that one
comparatively minor
contract dispute
will balance out the damage of Brexit
have fun

That's just not true and quite frankly a bit daft to say.

It's front page news news all over Europe.

Because if the the U.K. government had done what the EU had done yesterday you'd be dining out on it for at least a fortnight on t'other thread and bringing it up at any and every opportunity forever more. You certainly wouldn't be calling it 'a blip'

But you made me 😂 for sheer audacity though!

ListeningQuietly · 30/01/2021 22:55

HeyHey
Johnson talked of invoking A16 last week

Priti Patel has spoken of starving the Irish into submission

The EU officials bollocksed up
BUT
they saw that they had and backtracked

the UK keeps running over the cliff .....

That's a no then

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 30/01/2021 23:02

Listening you keep diverting the thread
Not about brexit really or what is or isn't in the european papers its about the Who's suggestion.
