Anal swab coronavirus test...yes or no?

China have developed an anal swab coronavirus test.

As long as I could do it myself I would be fine with it. I am sure it is better than sticking a swab up your nose and down your throat.

In all seriousness, I’ve not read enough about how they actually work - the main drawbacks of the nasal swabs are 1) people don’t shove them up far enough when self-administering; and 2) if people do go up too far and get blood, it can mess with the tests.

Would the anal swab be similar? Because I think plenty of people would be hesitant to shove it in far enough, and would faeces mess with the efficiency?

I would, strangely, rather have the anal swab than the one you have to put insanely far up your nose! I'd be more comfortable sticking a swab up my bum then far enough up my nose to make my eyes water. But I'm guessing I might be on my own with this one!

Don’t care. Anal swabs are pretty normal if you go for a sexual health check. No different to that, surely?

Well the swab for your nose is only the width of a cotton bud. I'd rather but thst up my arse than in my nose. It's very sneeze inducing up the nose. But I think if it was just a small swab it wouldn't be very noticeable up the bum.

Well I've just had my third normal test, and with each one I've gagged more than the last.

I would far FAR prefer to stick a cotton bud up my bum. I can't believe anyone would prefer gagging and having a swab feel like it's about to pierce your brain.

I've not had a baby but have had various go issues and gyno issues so you've basically summed it up for me too.
