Anal swab coronavirus test...yes or no?

China have developed an anal swab coronavirus test.

Would you have it?!

YANBU - of course, anything to get tested

I've had a couple of nasal tests and they were honestly fine, just a bit of discomfort, no way could I do it on myself though, DIY anal swans would probably be better.

@Greenandcabbagelooking to be fair, students at secondary school test themselves so you wouldn't have to actually administer the anal test

I've had a couple of tests and tbh I didn't think they were that bad. The throat part was far worse than up the nose.
I'd rather stick up my nose than my arse!

After having the glove clad finger of a doctor with hands like shovels up my bum when I was 12, I think a little swab would be barely noticeable. Anything that can fit a willy in can accommodate a swab. My late DH would have said no though, his view was that his arse was a one way system.

They would be great for my twins, who could handle suppositories or temps that way when they were younger (haven’t tried since) but freak out if you go near their face. Children with SEN are so hard to test, any other options would be good.

Not sure I'm flexible enough to perform the same feat on my bum 😂

If it’s to test for a viral load from the bowels, I wonder what they would do with stomas 🤔 I only have a rectal passage to nowhere now, so no use sticking it up there. Wonder if they’d go in the stoma instead

The nasal/throat swab is uncomfortable but only for a very short while and at least I can do it fully clothed from the comfort of my own sofa/car.

I can’t deal with the throat swab! I find the nose fine but maybe I would consider it just on my hatred of the throat swab.. 🤣 I can’t open my jaw wide or long enough for it and my tongue is so over active I can’t keep it down! So maybe I would consider it 🤣🤣

Not sure it would work unless at home or in hospitals I guess? It’s not like we can do that at a drive thru testing centre 🤣😭

So long as I could do it myself I would FAR rather have an anal swab than a nose or throat swab. Actually, even if someone else had to administer the test I'd probably prefer the anal swab.

Hmm. Good question OP. Up the nose and I'm gagging and sneezing. Up the arse and it's embarrassing. I reckon if it is a home test I'll take the anus. If it's not, up the nasal cavity you go.
