Anal swab coronavirus test...yes or no?

China have developed an anal swab coronavirus test.

Would you have it?!

YABU - no bloody way

YANBU - of course, anything to get tested

Seriously, most of us have spent lifetimes sticking tampons up ourselves. Why on earth is anyone freaked out by the idea of a cotton bud up the bum?

A wee swab in the arse wouldn't bother me a bit.

I love this. I've been on another thread talking about Brass Eye but I don't think anyone remembers it so they just think I'm mad (as will everyone on here) - imagine the interviews "Sir, if you could have it up the arse or in the nose, what would you choose?" Sir "the rear end" Interviewer "so you like it like that" - and so on ...

But yes, up the bum - its the only way to go. I wish it could be used to test for other things too!!

I'm not sure you've been using tampons correctly tbh...

I'm hoping on a spit test. Although id rather try the butt one than the throat and nose again.

Many years ago when taught how to take a rectal temperature we were told to always hold tight to the thermometer as things have a tendency to schloop upwards. Is that a risk? Don't fancy increased workload in A&E retrieving them

Much rather stick something up my bum than my nose, the tonsil bit of tests don’t bother me as I don’t have much of a gag reflex, but the nose bit is horrible and my nostril is all tingly and itchy for upto an hour afterwards.

Might be a bit awkward in the testing centre carparks though!

Think i'd rather have an anal swab, than having to keep doing the normal covid tests weekly.

Why? Do your eyes water every time you do a poo? Which is probably 100x wider than a cotton bud.

@JovialNickname I'm the same. I have never had anal sex and the thought repulses me (fair play to those who enjoy it) but I had the corona test and I swear I'd rather have that stick up my bum than up my nose.

Never mind the car park, I had my covid swab done standing on my front doorstep. An anal swab in the middle of the street is not the way I was planning to introduce myself to the new neighbours.

Sure if it’s accurate. Sounds easier and less painful than the nasal swab.

Hated the mouth swab - gagged so much that I feared I’d contaminated the result.
Would much prefer an anal one!

Haha funny how many people are saying they would prefer this?! Really? I would hate having someone stick a swab up by arse Or is it something you can do yourself? Either way it’s a no from me, I bet if this was asked to men they wouldn’t be as willing as everyone is on here to bend over

There are Covid tests in the sewage systems in some countries which are more precise than the tests, as apparently it shows up in the sewage before people have symptoms.

Honestly, the test I had to do was so horrific (gagging, dry boak when I swabbed my throat and then manic sneezing fit after swabbing so far up my my nose) I'd rather stick a swab up my arse for any future tests! No brainier for me.

I don’t understand why anyone would be against it. I get regular STI check ups as a cautious and considerate young adult, there’s minimal discomfort involved when swabbing that area. It’s not even awkward, the nurse has seen it all before.

Let’s be honest it’s probably easier to insert a swab through there than ramming it deeply down your nostril. There’s much more give. Your nostril can’t expand in the same way. It’s probably easier to self-administer so less chance of inaccurate results.

As long as they're wearing thigh-high boots and rubber gloves, I'm game.

Honestly With ibd im used to having cameras etc so feel free to use a swab there 🤣🤣. The one up my nose killed
