Cleaner trying on employers makeup

seaclaidte · 27/01/2021 17:21

Would this be a sackable offense for most?
It's a new cleaner by the way. Self employed, so no agency.

Also it was a lipstick.
House owner had left the house but came back to retrieve forgotten item and caught cleaner in the act.

@LaurieFairyCake

Yuk

Yet another reason Mumsnet has given me not to hire a cleaner Shock

But if you don't see it, it's like it never happened.

Bit like you wouldn't know there is(n't) a killer virus on the loose unless you watch the news

Hotzenplotz · 27/01/2021 18:57

@Newfor2021

Yes, my ex Nanny started wearing my clothes..... including my knickers!!! Envy (not envy!)
Including your KNICKERS?!?! Shock
Jellykat · 27/01/2021 18:58

Absolutely not on and definitely a sackable offence.
Completely disrespectful and unhygienic!
I'm a cleaner btw.

Tal45 · 27/01/2021 19:16

You need to be able to trust someone who is in your house when you're not there. Definitely sackable IMO.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 27/01/2021 19:20

Thin end of the wedge to me,
today - lipstick,

tomorrow - ooh the bed's nice and bouncy,
then soon it will be - just trying your husband for size. (seems OK)
Hmm

FamBae · 27/01/2021 19:30

Hmm I wonder if op is the cleaner!

cantgetmyheadroundit · 27/01/2021 19:35

@longandwide

Just occurred to me - maybe this is how cleaners (and the like) get lipstick on their teeth - they get caught in the act nicking other people's lippy and it makes them jump
cleaners (and the like) ?? I'm not sure if you're joking.
HarrysWife · 27/01/2021 19:36

Thats disgusting. I wouldnt share a lipstick with a random woman outside Sainsburys so why is an employee any different? And the fact it wasnt mutually agreed/offered is just Envy . not envy.

Georgyporky · 27/01/2021 19:36

I'd give her the lipstick in lieu of wages for the last week - preferably stuffed up her arse.

longandwide · 27/01/2021 19:41

@FamBae

Hmm I wonder if op is the cleaner!
Either way, I want to hear the story about her using the lipstick, trying on the underwear and seducing her employer's husband.

I don't care if the story is made up. I want to hear it.

The idea has some appeal - staid suburban middle class house but with a naughty smutty secret that goes on once a week, regular as clockwork and while the "lady of the house" is out at her tennis lesson.

The story is told so we feel some sympathy for the husband - he isn't seeking someone different as such as he loves and fancies his wife - that's why the cleaner wears her things - he just wants to experience a more available/naughtier side of his wife - rather than the more staid/stuck up one that he has.

Ok, so the wife starts to suspect something is going on. How does the story play out from here?

[No - she doesn't "LTB" - this is a fun fictional fantasy book - bit like the opening post!]

Ileflottante · 27/01/2021 19:48

Anyone else baffled by those who think it’s fine for cleaners to have a spritz of your perfume?!! That stuff is EXPENSIVE! I don’t want anyone all up in my cosmetics, thanks. Not cool.

1Morewineplease · 27/01/2021 19:50

She needs to be rid of.
DCI Barnaby would have found her impaled on some kind of threshing machine ( I'm currently watching too many re-runs of Midsomer Murders !) or shot with a 1942 pistol owned by the rector's wife!
You need to follow her through the woods and scare her with a scythe.
Failing that... sack her.

ktp100 · 27/01/2021 20:08

Eeeeeeewwwww!!!!!

And in the middle of a pandemic?!

I'd fuck her right off, sloppy cow!!

MoreMorelos · 27/01/2021 20:11

Op has to be the cleaner!

So many posts recently where people don't come back

winterchills · 27/01/2021 20:17

🤢🤢disgusting

Snally82 · 27/01/2021 20:21

Lipstick, yes of course, totally unhygienic and just bloody cheeky!!

CrotchBurn · 27/01/2021 20:43

Oh come on like someone having a spray of your perfume is a big deal Hmm

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 27/01/2021 20:48

I once employed a cleaner through an agency and came home when she was part way through. I then noticed her slippers were the same as mine - you guessed it, she was wearing my slippers! I'm a bit of a wimp and didn't sack her until a few weeks later when she kept asking to borrow my stuff and asking how much everything cost. She was lovely but a bloody nightmare Grin

AStudyinPink · 27/01/2021 20:48

Oh come on like someone having a spray of your perfume is a big deal hmm

It’s your personal stuff. If a cleaner starts ‘having a spray’ of whatever they fancy in your house, they’re not going to suddenly start respecting your home or property.

katy1213 · 27/01/2021 20:52

I'd sack. And dock the price of the lipstick from her pay.

seaclaidte · 27/01/2021 21:01

It wasnt my cleaner. It was someone elses.
And they didnt come back to retreive the lipstick, just something else from their bedroom, and saw they cleaner sampling said lipstick on her lips.

And of course you can come home without being heard. Not everyone gallops home on a horse.
A pair of flat shoes on most surfaces make zero noise.

The cleaner was obviously too engrossed in what she was doing.

The reason that I am asking is that the homeowner gave the cleaner a second chance. I would not have been so forgiving.

I would make a brilliant cleaner. I love a good sort out.

But no I am not the cleaner.

OP posts:
CrotchBurn · 27/01/2021 21:07

Well clearly I'm massively in the minority here but I'm not going to sack a self employed or minimum wage worker in the middle of a pandemic because they put a foot wrong and tried on my lipstick

YakkityYakYakYak · 27/01/2021 21:07

It’s a bit gross, I think I’d probably ask my cleaner not to come back after that.

Although when I was a housekeeper in a hotel I used to try on the guests perfumes

Cuntitinthebin · 27/01/2021 21:11

Depends on the lipstick
