It’s just so nice to have some sparkle right now on these long cold nights.

There is some historical precedence re leaving it up till candlemass.....

Colleague thinks I’m ridiculous 😂

DS still has a little artificial tree in his room. We’re taking it down tomorrow on Candlemas. I’ve never done this before but he didn’t want to take it down at Epiphany so I felt obliged to leave it until tomorrow.
I’m not even religious!

I'm enjoying the last night with ours up. Will miss it tomorrow. Always do the day I take it down. Might start leaving it up until candlemas every year, instead of the 6th January like I used to

We took the lights off last weekend but the tree's still there. We don't have many plants inside because I kill them all so it's nice to have a bit of greenery. I'm impressed it's lasted this long & might allow my DC to talk me into putting up the decorations before Dec 15th this year! I'm always paranoid that the needles will all fall off before Christmas!

@FinallyFluid

Question...................

Was there any correlation between price paid and longevity of the tree ?

I will go first we paid £100 for the tree and it was fine, fine tree until about last week.

More like the freshness is the key when you buy it plus how you look after it. We always get ours from a local grower,have a slice cut off the trunk and keep it in water. This year's 7ft Norwegian Spruce was £45.

All good except,as I mentioned upthread,lots of little flies hatched out Shockabout a week ago because it was fresh enough to be putting out new shoots!
Not fancying a takeover,tree was hastily dismantled and flies dispatched. You never know what's lurking in there!

Still got some warm white lights around and I'll light some candles tonight in honour of Candlemas.
