Inspired by the white bag thread, it just got me curious. I’m not a journo! Although, I suppose that’s what a journalist would say.. Grin

Have you / do you take drugs? What did you take and why did you?

I’ll be honest and go first, I occassinally use MDMA and I do use coke on nights. But I don’t have kids and I’d stop as soon as I was having them

not really, i used very much enjoy a joint or two a few times a week before baby and pre pregnancy, but i now i use CBD in my tea occasionally if im in pain or am overly anxious though, highly highly recommended.

Barracker · 25/01/2021 21:38

No.
Zammo did a number on me and that was that.

User133847 · 25/01/2021 21:38

No, i'm not a criminal.

FluffyMcWuffy · 25/01/2021 21:39

Yes. At University moons ago. Regularly smoked hash, took speed most weekends and once smoked crack which resulted in the most horrendous hallucinations. I would not touch any of it now. It was an experience which I would not repeat, nor would i recommend.

Askedforafriend · 25/01/2021 21:40

No hardly even drink and although I think drugs should be legalised I cannot condone or fathom taking illegal drugs because the drug trade disproportionately affects people of colour from source until your personal high. Like the price of staple crops tripling because farmers are forced at gunpoint to grow opium and coca. The wars over turf. The people that die snuggling this stuff from source all across the world. Those incarcerated for non-violent drug crimes. Young kids forced to traffic or deal drugs and initiated into drug dealing and gangs at an early age because of the lack of youth services and disenfranchisement of young people in this country.

That all for me would make it impossible to enjoy a high knowing the human cost it took for me to have it. But hey, enjoy yourselves

User133847 · 25/01/2021 21:40

The attitude to drug taking in western culture strikes me as bizarre when the brits are a nation who love a drink. Alcohol’s up there with the most damaging/addictive drugs.

You may have a point but alcohol isn't illegal. You're not breaking the law by buying it if you're over 17.

Casiloco · 25/01/2021 21:41

Weed at University and on the odd occasion - 40 years on - am seriously tempted to do it again. It was definitely the drug for me. Made me feel fantastic and we had such fun.

Glad it never really became a habit though as I know there can be really unpleasant side effects from long term use. Had room mates who used harder stuff - LSD, amphetamines - it really didn't look like a barrel of laughs and I was much too scared of these to even consider trying them.

RhubarbTea · 25/01/2021 21:41

No, never have, and don't plan to start.

corythatwas · 25/01/2021 21:41

No, never tried. I had a great time at uni but it didn't involve drugs. Even weed wasn't really a thing where I went to uni.

When I worked in England in my early 20s there was plenty of weed around, the people I shared a house with smoked it. What put me off was seeing how hilarious they thought they were after a few puffs and how they bored everybody else to tears. I've known plenty of people who can be genuinely witty and entertaining while moderately drunk but never anyone who's not been a bore while smoking weed.

Historydweeb · 25/01/2021 21:41

Not any more but I do miss them 😂

Chanjer · 25/01/2021 21:42

Having a spliff right now

Thewinterofdiscontent · 25/01/2021 21:42

Didn’t like smoking so weed wasn’t appealing and I’m pretty chilled anyway.
Never liked the idea of tablets or powder - could have been any old shit.

I did pick the odd mushroom though and found those brilliant fun.

JaceLancs · 25/01/2021 21:42

Smoked dope, tried LSD, cocaine and amphetamines in my teens and early 20s
Smoked until mid 30s
I’m now mid 50s drink and eat a tad too much to stay skinny but no interest in anything else
I feel really lucky that my youthful experimentation appears to have had no long term effects

User133847 · 25/01/2021 21:43

If you do take illegal drugs. How does it feel to be financing organised crime?

By facilitating the demand you're more partly responsible for death and destruction than if you walk into a supermarket without a mask, that's for sure.

Chickoletta · 25/01/2021 21:43

No.

Shared a joint once in the sixth form but didn’t really enjoy it.

I drink more than I should though.

msby · 25/01/2021 21:44

Never. Haven’t smoked a cigarette either. Drink but have always been sensible with it. I’m not a risk taker. I sometimes wish that I was different but it’s who I am.

MissMarpleDarling · 25/01/2021 21:45

No. My ex smoked weed and did coke every so often and yes he kept a job and looked the part but omg he was so fucked up in the head. He is my reason for never touching drugs 😂

Ostryga · 25/01/2021 21:45

I used to manage restaurants in my early/mid 20s, so a lot of cocaine.

Now in my 30s with a respectable job, own home etc etc and haven’t had any for years. Was fun tho, and my god I could close down in about 25 mins Wink

PufferFishGoneWrong · 25/01/2021 21:45

A lot of weed / skunk. Some pills, no idea what they were. Drank an awful lot too.
Haven't done any drugs long before the kids came along.
Hardly drink now and haven't smoked for 15y.

Crabbypaddy · 25/01/2021 21:46

Are you suggesting a doctor discussed another patient with you? As that is not ok.

MrsTWH · 25/01/2021 21:46

No. I don’t even drink any more.

I work with vulnerable teens. The havoc drugs wreak on so many lives is horrendous. County lines is ruining lives of whole families whose children are targeted. All for some selfish twat who fancies a “cheeky line” on a night out. Absolute scumbags.

79andnotout · 25/01/2021 21:46

@Royalbloo I found myself having to drink too much to get any buzz out of it, and I'd have a two week anxiety hangover where I'd doubt everything I was doing. Also it was making me fat.

If mdma was legal, produced in a non exploitive way, and I knew exactly what strength it was I would definitely have a dab at a party or music festival. Booze I don't mind leaving behind, I always had a love hate relationship with it.

CherryPieface · 25/01/2021 21:48

Was in late teens, early twenties in the 90s and drugs were rife. Smoked a lot of hash, took acid, speed and ecstasy pretty regularly. Haven’t touched anything for years but do love wine.

Have been to a few music festivals in recent years and am quite shocked at how open young people are when taking drugs - lots of cocaine, ket etc.

SweatyBetty20 · 25/01/2021 21:48

Nothing. Lived with three stoners for a year at uni and the amount of boring shite they came out with every single fucking night was enough to put me off.

BeforeThisThenWhat · 25/01/2021 21:48

Never. Had plenty of opportunities but I never wanted to. I don’t like being drunk or even tipsy either. I was a big clubber and party goer in my prime but never wanted to take drugs.

The drugs trade is nasty and I’m glad I’ve never been part of it. It always makes me laugh when otherwise socially aware people use drugs.

I believe everyone who uses coke has blood on their hands.
