Won’t somebody think of the children (local Facebook groups)

So local fb group is up in arms as someone’s delivery got delivered to wrong address.
But wording of op is very “this is the only thing my kids had to look forward to this week. I hope whoever stole it chokes on it” etc etc.

Five minutes later “we’ll now we have a lovely meal from (local Japanese restaurant) instead - the kids even are some of it.

Aibu to think people that randomly bring their kids into fb complaints (that aren’t acout kids) are idiots if the highest order

No one?

What?

WorraLiberty · 23/01/2021 21:58

Maybe it was all they had to look forward to? 🤷‍♀️

CrotchBurn · 23/01/2021 21:58

I don't understand whats annoying you exactly?

Achangeagain1 · 23/01/2021 22:00

Sorry realised typos made this unclear.
Rather than just being pushed off that their order went elsewhere it’s all “my kids are joe starving... it’s the only thing they have looked forward to”

You also see this on buying and selling groups “am selling as I need to feed my kids” etc

All set up to provoke an emotional response - and all incredibly transparent

Totally didn't understand your post

What is your concern? Does it affect you?

Achangeagain1 · 23/01/2021 22:01

Meh OP, maybe hide posts that annoy you. Life is too short to make a thread about this
Yes people can be manipulative
Yes fb can be annoying
Hence hide post option

I read your OP title in the voice of Helen Lovejoy.

Achangeagain1 · 23/01/2021 22:03

@WorraLiberty it was - and yet - when uber refunded them - rather than say just re-ordering the kfc that those kids were so looking forward to - they got sushi instead.

My point (though badly made) is around people who leverage children as an extra reason to complain,

OP posts:
bluebluezoo · 23/01/2021 22:04

I get you o/p- people using their children to get special treatment or make a situation appear worse than it is.

I agree. I don’t care if you have kids or not. It also implies people without kids aren’t affected if their electricity is cut off/takeaway doesn’t arrive or whatever.

Achangeagain1 · 23/01/2021 22:04

@FrostyChocolateMilkshake it was totally said in the voice of Helen lovejoy.

Confused
Achangeagain1 · 23/01/2021 22:07

@bluebluezoo thank you. Have a new phone and the typos are making me incoherent!

That’s exactly it - something which anyone would be pissed off about happens and instead of just saying “I have no hot water and the plumber has left us with water pouring out of the ceiling”
It’s “my children are practically drowning and crying because of it”

OP posts:
takingwhatineed · 23/01/2021 22:08

Oh I hate it when people use their children to provoke sympathy on Facebook- usually to complain or on the selling sites.

12frogsincoats · 23/01/2021 22:09

Top tip - you can read through your posts before hitting post! That way you can correct typos Smile

WorraLiberty · 23/01/2021 22:09

Oh I see, yes I get what you men now OP.

It's the same in my local FB group with shoehorning the fact they're keyworkers into random posts.

The other week someone posted "Please can you look out for my cat (accompanied by photo). I'm a frontline NHS worker and I miss him".

Errrr I'm so glad they mentioned that, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered 😂😂

Achangeagain1 · 23/01/2021 22:10

@12frogsincoats new phone - I don’t usually have to.

Their kids have turned into Japanese food?

takingwhatineed · 23/01/2021 22:11

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 23/01/2021 22:12

But I disagree with you, adults can generally handle disappointment but small things insignificant to us mean the world to kids and when injustices (like someone stealing your takeaway) happen I'd be mad for them too

😁

Achangeagain1 · 23/01/2021 22:13

@WorraLiberty “oh just an accountants cat? Sod him then” Grin

OP posts:
Achangeagain1 · 23/01/2021 22:17

@JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows while I get what you mean, in which case would you the order sushi - or just get another kfc?

This isn’t about the delivery by the way (I’d be annoyed too), it’s the bringing “my children are so upset” into complaints that would be perfectly understandable as a way to garner additional sympathy - where not necessary.

For example - Santa was drunk and swearing -‘my kids were upset - necessary

My sky tv has gone down and ooor little tommy who loves watching it is heartbroken - unnecessary
