Women walking around the shop eating with her mask off.

I probably sound judgemental and don’t mean to be but aibu to think this is wrong given current times?

I generally get disgusted about people walking around the supermarket eating anyway. Does anyone actually do that?!

She had her mask right down walking around stuffing her face with everything. I assume she had bought these foods before she was walking around the shop from another shop or went in to get food and back in. It was all junk food too.

I’d like to think there was a valid reason for her doing this. Maybe she’s diabetic or something but she was stuffing her face as soon as he got into the shop and was walking around? (It’s a small shop and I kept seeing her) Surely she knew she needed food before she walked in and could have eaten in the car.

I even a couple of the staff were giving her looks of disgust as she was walking around. But no one looked brave enough to ask her to pull her mask up!

It’s just a mix of the mask down and stuffing her face. Really got under my skin. 🤣

Sorry if I sound judgmental. Maybe she had a good reason!

Its always best to stick to these two assumptions and not give alternative scenarios any headspace.

Lolwhat · 22/01/2021 15:25

Not sure how it’s relevant what kind of food it is. You don’t know the situation so stop being so judgemental.

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 22/01/2021 15:26

I've seen this LOADS recently - people seem to buy a take out coffee or Greggs so they don't have to wear a mask. Pretty annoying but sadly, what can you do.

Bookriddle · 22/01/2021 15:28

Should of phoned the police and had them arrested and fined....

rainbowunicorn · 22/01/2021 15:28

She sounds like an idiot. I think most supermarkets are plagued with these type of people at the moment as there is nowhere else for them to go. I see it all the time, full of entitled self importance. Generally they are dicks in all aspects of life.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 22/01/2021 15:30

She was stuffing her face with everything? Really? Just picking up random stuff and ramming it down her throat? Never seen that before.

Why does it matter if it was "junk food"

stackemhigh · 22/01/2021 15:31

Op, I would ask yourself why you need the validation of posting on here for such a minor thing? And your language is awful...stuffing herself? Disgust? What is wrong with you?

Yes, she was wrong but there's nothing anyone can do about it now, it's done.

And this should be in the coronavirus topic.

Whatsmyusername30 · 22/01/2021 15:33

I just thinking have your mask off and eating potentially touching your face is disgusting. She was eating as soon as she walked in. Could have eaten in the car or outside. I assume she had bought food from elsewhere or been to get food then back in again. Who knows.

I mean do adults really eat in shops?! Not something I’ve ever done tbh even before covid 🤢

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/01/2021 15:33

JUNK FOOD?!?!?!?!

Would have been fine if it was an M&S salad, right?

But yes, silly and a bit gross either way. If she's diabetic, she probably should be more careful so it's really unlikely to be that. Shift worker with no time to eat and shop? That's happened to me before.

Whatsmyusername30 · 22/01/2021 15:33

Eating, touching her face then touching stuff on the shelves.

Who knows indeed. Not you, not me, not anyone here..
Whatsmyusername30 · 22/01/2021 15:34

She didn’t look like she was on shift of any kind.

This OP has too much time on her hands. It’s more disgusting than the woman with her mask off. She may of been diabetic for all you know OP.

Mind your own business.

Whatsmyusername30 · 22/01/2021 15:36

I said it was junk food as she had her hands in packets of crisps then touching everything. Didn’t feel hygienic to me at all.

oh but "stuffing her face"? hoik the judgy pants out of your bum crack and get on with your day.

movingonup20 · 22/01/2021 15:38

I have on occasion started on biscuits in the shop because I felt really faint - I know the feeling and it's my fault for skipping meals plus hot weather/heating up high and I'm in a coat. I've also drunk a bottle of water in store for the same reason. There can be genuine reasons but at the moment I would grab what I need from the take away food section pay and leave rather than nibble in store

Nomnomarrgh · 22/01/2021 15:38

The horror! Biscuit

Whatsmyusername30 · 22/01/2021 15:39

@Poppyseeds2 could have eaten in the car jr outside? It’s not like she was eating mid way through. She was eating as soon as she walked through the door hence why I thought it was weird. The food had come form elsewhere I assume. It’s not like she randomly had a snack half way through her shop. She was in front of me going in munching.

I think the staff were too scared to say anything and tell her to put her mask on. She didn’t look like the approachable type.

Maybe I am a judgmental bastard but I think it’s vile tbh.

OP posts:
SquirtleSquad · 22/01/2021 15:40

Didn't look the approachable type what type is that?

Whatsmyusername30 · 22/01/2021 15:41

Yet I’ve seen posts moaning about children being in supermarkets. My children (who do not go shopping with me currently) would know not to do this.

I just think she’s risking herself and others putting her hands to her mouth the whole way round and no mask.

FoxyTheFox · 22/01/2021 15:44

You appear to have accidentally inserted a 'maybe' here, OP.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/01/2021 15:45

Even without CV and masks, it's really not ok for adults to wander around shops eating, especially not food shops.

The shopkeeper ought to put up a 'no eating and drinking on these premises' sign and enforce it.

YesMeLady · 22/01/2021 15:45

If she was feeling faint or having low blood sugars maybe she could have sat down and eaten or drunk domething, staff in our local supermarket often help customers to do that if someone feels poorly. Its not hygienic to eat, pick your nose, sneeze, cough then touch items that other people will pick up but it probably happens all the time but you just notice it more now.

FoxyTheFox · 22/01/2021 15:46

I just think she’s risking herself and others putting her hands to her mouth the whole way round and no mask.

Which is why you wash your hands, wear your mask, don't touch anything yourself unless necessary. You seem to spending too much time worrying about what other people are doing.

Cornettoninja · 22/01/2021 15:48

I’m with you. There’s no need, especially at the moment.

There is literally no need for anyone to have to eat in the middle of a supermarket. A diabetic in that urgent need of food/glucose that they couldn’t wait till they were outside wouldn’t be able to saunter round a shop munching on whatever. It would be a fairly obvious urgent situation.

I wouldn’t give them the benefit of the doubt at all. They just don’t care and have a massive sense of entitlement. Wankers basically.
