... to ask if your husband still gives you butterflies

Feel like a wee kid asking this question but I’m curious to hear from others. I know it’s naive to hope the honeymoon period will never end (ours was spectacular!), but I hear people say they still get butterflies regularly despite being together for many years. We’ve had a lot of ups and downs over the 11 years we’ve been together, but I definitely love my husband and think he’s the spunkiest man alive. Just can’t remember the last time I got butterflies. Anyone?

I never got butterflies. I never remember having them for anyone. But do I still love the bones of the kind, funny, generous, intelligent bloke I married over 20 years ago? Hell yes.

JustAnotherUserinParadise · 22/01/2021 10:56

occasionally! we've been together 9 years. The other day he was doing some garden work and was all sweaty and wearing a manky old coat... phew!
Unfortunately I'm heavily pregnant and he doesn't want to do anything with the baby "there" so it didn't come to anything!

BrassicaRabbit · 22/01/2021 10:57

Yes totally. There was a lull after the overwhelm of our first child but now I fancy him more than ever. Stopping taking the mini pill a few years ago was a good idea too. It really killed my sex drive to be on it.

Carysmatthews · 22/01/2021 10:59

24 years married and I still get excited to see him at the end of the day. He also makes me laugh a lot. He’s the absolute best man I know.

Mylittlepony374 · 22/01/2021 10:59

When he's fixing something and his forearms are exposed and rippling with muscle I want to jump on him an rip his clothes off. Does that count? Together 12 years.

Robbybobtail · 22/01/2021 11:02

Yes, been together 20 years. It does depend on my mood but I still look at him and think “there will never be another man for me”. (I do also sometimes look at him and think “God, you’re a right dickhead” though too!)

Passiveobserver · 22/01/2021 11:02

@LeggyLinda Grin Loving your caterpillar comment, made me smile

Yes to butterflies with my new partner of 5 years

romany4 · 22/01/2021 11:04

Married 31 years.

I get butterflies when he comes home still when I haven't seen him all day

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 22/01/2021 11:06

I look forward to my husband coming home from work (and when I'm in the office I look forward to coming home to him), and spending time with him. He is my best friend as well as my husband.
It is a different kind of butterfly feeling. It isnt necessarily that passionate butterfly feeling you get in the first months of dating. It is a more contended type of feeling.

Crownofthorns · 22/01/2021 11:07

Nope. Sadly.

blobbyface · 22/01/2021 11:07

No

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 22/01/2021 11:07

Contented*

This is so sweet - I don't even know you but this really made me smile. What a fabulous relationship you have with your husband.
im5050 · 22/01/2021 11:10

Yes
We still kiss every day , hold hands and we have been married 21 years
I couldn’t be with someone I didn’t fancy

Youseethethingis · 22/01/2021 11:15

Our butterflies are caged up just now. Both been WFH or on furlough for nearly a year now, there is such a thing as too much time together.
I know the first time we manage to go out for dinner together after lockdown, wearing something other than joggers, there will be butterflies again because he’s bloody gorgeous and I love him 😍

sundowners · 22/01/2021 11:28

If we get dressed up to go out and he's groomed/wearing nice shirt/put on nice aftershave then a small flutter yes. On holiday- same scenario but with a tan and chilled- even more so. Day to day life walking around in slippers at home, nope!

RestingPandaFace · 22/01/2021 11:29

Just occasionally, but we’ve been together over 20 years.

angstridden2 · 22/01/2021 11:33

40+ years...we’re old now and he annoys me sometimes but I still get butterflies when he kisses me or just makes me laugh.

Sometimesonly · 22/01/2021 11:36

Yes - sometimes. I have posted this before but once he pulled over on his motorbike to talk to me (I was walking down the street) and I didn't immediately realise it was him but - yes, butterflies! Married 17 years almost.

Sometimesonly · 22/01/2021 11:37

Also it helps that he is also very smartly dressed. Doesn't really do casual clothes (no t-shirts!) so pretty much corrisponds to the Cary Grant style of man that I have always loved!

RickOShay · 22/01/2021 11:40

No
I still fancy him though
Married 15 years

ouchmyfeet · 22/01/2021 11:41

@Helmetbymidnight

we've been together nearly 24 hours a day since last march. if we had some proper healthy time apart id feel more kindly disposed towards him Grin
This. No butterflies here
Redrunbluerun · 22/01/2021 11:42

When he’s dressed for work (airline pilot) most definitely Grin

Bluntness100 · 22/01/2021 11:43

God no, a murderous rage is more likely. 😂

DeadButDelicious · 22/01/2021 11:48

He does 🙂 16 years together and I still think, wow, he's mine.
