RTB's point is that a lot of Twitter newsfeeds contain actual links back to original source material.
For someone who doesn't use Twitter you have a lot of opinions on it.
And on your point that 'everything that goes badly from now on is Joe Biden's fault' - well, that's just childish. It takes more than 2 days to undo the harm done in 4 years and if you don't understand that, you really need to read up on how political systems work.
This.
I can find out about government policy making and things like consultations that I would otherwise not know about via twitter.
If you follow experts in their field, they can point you in the right direction of information.
A lot of journalism is about precisely this type of signposting. Journalists report on things, but they also source it and cite where to find the original material so you can check for yourself if the report they give is accurate / makes the relevant points / the degree to which the reporter has applied bias.
And this is where I find it particularly useful.
Say for example theres an article on haulage and how Brexit is impacting it, I wouldn't have the foggest where to find a haulage website aimed at truckers with reports about how drivers and firms are handling it and sharing information with each other inside the industry. But a journalist for the mass media might direct me to this niche information. Or they might talk about a medical study write up a summary but would cite it, so I can look that up.
I don't look everything in this way, but I certainly do look up a fair amount that interests me and I don't necessarily take the journalist at face value (unless its a journalist who has a particularly good track record and I have learnt to trust).
I studied journalism and know how to navigate around twitter to make the best use of it and to judge the reliability of sources. And to cross reference with other sources on the same subject.
I know not everyone has the skills to do this. I personally think it is something that needs teaching better to allow kids to make the optium use of twitter and to weed out poor journalism, bias and ultimately fake news.
