McConnell proposes timeline for impeachment trial mid Feb. Breaking News.
He can only suggest, as minority leader, so over to Nancy,

Shrillharridan · 21/01/2021 23:20

McConnell can get to fuck
Its not his house anymore :)

Shrillharridan · 21/01/2021 23:21

BTW did anyone else think MM looked quite ill yesterday?
His steps seemed unsteady at one point...

Roussette · 21/01/2021 23:21

I live hearing the words McConnell and Minority together, very satisfying.

Roussette · 21/01/2021 23:21

Love

Shrillharridan · 21/01/2021 23:21

Mmmmmm
Its the aliteration :)

Roussette · 21/01/2021 23:23

McConnell looked very poorly a while back, he's a polio survivor so I don't think his health is great

CousinKrispy · 21/01/2021 23:23

I have just read through this entire thread and just wanted to say how much it has cheered me up!

Shrillharridan · 21/01/2021 23:25

Ds1 commented on how old most of the attendees were.
And old.
And male.

Roussette · 21/01/2021 23:25

Good to hear Krispy Smile

Shrillharridan · 21/01/2021 23:26

"White, Frail and male" were his exact words...

Honestly, it would probably be a good idea for there to be a delay to impeachment to allow dust to settle and for Biden to have some time in the White House to demonstrate normalcy.

There are an awful lot of Republicans who, even if they voted for Trump, long for that normality and stability and a steady hand.

A few weeks at the wheel and it maybe make a big difference to opinions in terms of whether Americans want another Term of Trump or an ordinary reliable boring Republican.

RTB My initial reaction was that it might not be a bad thing for both parties, for their own reasons. It's not too far away.

Anyone else see Dr. Fauci speaking earlier? The relief on that man's face! He doesn't have to deal with Donald the Bleach any longer.

prettybird · 21/01/2021 23:43

I agree: Fauci looks 20 years younger - and I'd even suggest taller! Grin

The comments he made about being able to speak the truth, say if he didn't know an answer rather than make it up and allow the science to talk unlike before were telling Grin

maggiethecat · 21/01/2021 23:46

@cyclingmad
I know you’re busy with other posters but can you get back to me on evidence of Trump observing moments of silence or engaging in any other focused memorial and respect for the 400,000 + of your fellow Americans that have died of Covid under his watch?

@cyclingmad
As it's been a while since I asked the question and I notice that you're still around I'm wondering if you're still searching for the evidence?

A quick instant superficial reactionary comment - would lives (and livelihoods) have been saved if not for a unique and detrimental style of former political "leadership?" Naturally all subject to satisfactory legal and scientific (but obvious and indisputable) evidence as to incompetency, unfit for purpose, negligent mismanagement or plain old stupidity and wanton recklessness careless mass political manslaughter by deliberately going against the known and proven science.

Political leadership would always necessitate the balance of overall health outcomes with socio economic requirements but arguably there is a case against the former leadership for making the wrong choices with unqualified inference of reckless self treatments including bleach and random drugs designed for other medical treatments which did more harm than benefit Covid impacted victims. Arguably some of the approximately half a million former American lives may have been saved if globally adopted best practice Covid risk mitigation measures were mandated as per the first priority of the current administration.

@maggiethecat @cyclingmad isn't on this thread to answer our questions, she's just on here to be goady and poke fun at us.

Plus, the fact that Trump didn't care about the 400,000 Americans that died enough to even call for a few minutes' silence in their memory is the one thing that really demonstrates the kind of person that he is. It doesn't fit Cycling's narrative, that Trump and Biden are as bad as each other so obviously she's going to ignore you.

Mittens030869 · 22/01/2021 00:16

And yes, it's great to see Fauci back in harness. He was clearly so frustrated when the Trump administration refused to cooperate with the incoming administration with regards to the pandemic. He made it clear that he wanted to start this then.

I heard speculation on CNN that Mitch is proposing a 'quid pro quo' of delay the trial for 'easy' confirmation of Biden's cabinet nominees.

It'd be 'over to Schumer' as Nancy is the Speaker of the House. Schumer is Senate Majority Leader (McConnell's old position).

NotaRealLawyer · 22/01/2021 00:27

ResIpsa I think you are spot on there, not a superficial comment at all ime. I think that man stuck it out because he genuinely cares about people's lives. How he kept himself sane, trying to argue the science, in that shit storm, I've no idea. Yes, all the people who might have survived had he been listened to earlier. A heavy weight for him to bear I think.

AcrossThe Pond, But isn't it Nancy Pelosi, as Speaker, who decides to send the Article? I thought "the date" was ultimately in her hands? That's what I meant in my post.
Or have I got it wrong then?
But bow to you, as you are USA. Smile
