I’m just watching too, almost at the end and enjoyed all the performances.

You’ll see the POTUS (still can’t believe I’m referring to Biden) and VP at the end watching fireworks and am again struck at how there seems to be genuine warmth and care between them and respective spouses.

I've watched Joe bidens inaugural speech twice now. I'm in awe of that lovely, very decent, level headed seeming man. I am so so happy to see that a country that I love can start to rebuild after the astronomical mistake that was made four years ago.

They are doing it to teach him that actions have consequences, and also to show all Donny's little friends that if they behave badly, they won't get away with it. Not in their house they won't.

What the USA has been suffering is a rather nasty little boy with a lot of rather nasty little friends who has been on an orgy of destruction: it has to be demonstrated that he, or anyone else, can't get away with it.

I have a yearly flu jab with no side effects, so when three years ago I was offered a pneumonia jab (gives lifetime protection!) I didn’t hesitate. It hurt! And my arm ached for weeks. In fact it ached on and off for months if I got run down. But I don’t regret it one bit - I had pneumonia as a child and I remember how ill I was - it did permanent damage to one lung as well.

There can't be meaningful reconciliation if Republicans behave as though they're just disappointed they didn't get away with it, and are itching for the next opportunity.

They have to actually come out and condemn the Tango Turd's behaviour, in practice as well as rhetoric.

Forgiveness and reconciliation can be waiting for them... but they have to make the journey to it.

For those who aren't willing to make that journey, what is there to reconcile?

A filibuster is when a member basically stands up and talks non-stop to prevent a bill from being discussed. They can’t be forced to yield the floor so can pretty much go on for as long as they like, talking about anything they want, until they run out the clock on debating time.

The USA if united and not Divided States has much potential to return into a new multi polar international order of cooperation and mutual respect for each other and importantly health, wealth and humanity.

It is refreshing to see that basic common sense Covid mitigation measures are finally taken a little seriously stateside from the blasé dismal of just days ago. No more reckless entitlement exceptionalism as everyone is being mindful and resetting the expected standards of behaviour including being masked when appropriate which is pretty much all the time and even if recently tested (relatively accurately) negative. Good for science to defeat stupidity!

Welcome back USA - what the hell happened over the past four years?! You as a nation are better than that! Good luck Mr USA President and may you be the uniting force to convert the disillusioned to bring normality back and no longer buy into the popular polarisation cultism.
