I wonder who will actually show up for Trump's vanity farewell. Read that organisers were worried there won't be many people there as he of course wants big crowds. At 8am. Should be 1pm UK time so I'll see if it's shown on the news.

Really, Trump's refusal to attend the inauguration ought to be shocking. But it's a measure of his abject failure that no-one cares, if anything everyone sane is really quite pleased that they won't have to see his stupid face at the ceremony

Is CNN the best one to watch? The ad gaps drive me mad, but I'm not sure any other live stream will be better.

If you have Amazon Prime they are live streaming everything including the celebrations afterwards (they start at 1:30am UK time Thursday) They start live coverage of the inauguration at 3pm UK time. There will also be facebook live streams, as far as I could work out BBC ITV and Sky are only covering the Inauguration itself live. I'll also have CNN on and switch between streams - I took the week off work for this and hubbys now off for the rest of the week so we can watch "as it happens" and catch up on sleep later.

Regarding AF1, isn't it any airforce plane carrying the President? So AF1 can't bring the President Elect or take the previous one, by definition, because it's not carrying the President. The aircraft that is usually used as AF1 can, but it won't be AF1 then.

Have a pit in my stomach about the discord he’s leaving behind. It was always there, he just aired it and then fanned the flames of it.

I want Biden and Pelosi to show us the full extent of their political, executive, legislative and diplomatic skills. I want Harris, a decent and straightforward (relatively) politician, to be American’s conscience. If they bring stability and order within two years, it’ll be a job well done. Let the GOP fight amongst themselves. They need these two years to work out who they are and who they want to be (ie where their interests lie). So, I’m afraid, do the Dems. They need to leave the shadow of the Clintons far behind them and move on.

It’s going to be messy and ugly and dirty. For tomorrow, at least, we can enjoy the promise of hope and celebrate Trump’s departure.

@lionheart, I like that Auden poem. So concise. As apt for Nero as it is for Trump (although I think it's supposed to be about Hitler?).

Trump is a failed tyrant though I guess. He was even a loser at that in the end. I can't see his 'movement' developing significantly - he's too old, his kids are too stupid, and his GOP allies too exposed.
