Dog poo-ing on our garden every morning and evening. AIBU to say something?

We live in a quiet area with just three houses in a sort of cul de sac. We are part of a small estate but at the bottom of it. Nobody comes down here unless they live here or are delivering something really.

However there is a cut through at the top and every morning and evening for the past week, a woman has started appearing from this cut through and walking past our house with her large dog. And every morning and evening, this dog is doing a poo on my front garden.

It cocks it's leg on my bushes and had a wee and then settles down for a poo. And yes - she does stand there watching and picks it up

The reason I know? We have security cameras. The reason I've not said anything to her yet? I have annoyingly either been asleep/ in the shower/ in the garage/ out shopping. Nearly managed it this morning but by the time I'd opened my front door, she was turning the corner and I wasn't about to screech!

So ... onto my AIBU. My DH thinks that as she's picking it up then meh, not a massive deal. I think differently - I don't want my front lawn used as a dog toilet and I think it's bad manners to allow your dog to do this. Once I sort of get - but this is now becoming a pattern.

AIBU to literally stake out my camera notifications today and ensure I can get to my front door and ask her to stop immediately? Or just ignore it?

Err WILD animal poo:

Wow - I'd be amazed to see a wolf poo! That would actually be quite something

@sadeyes21 - Exactly, cats are free roaming, domesticated or wild, they’d still shit outdoors. It comes down to selfish humans who think only they have the privilege to shit!

Maybe we should start policing hedgehogs, foxes and birds and where they shit? My neighbour feeds the pigeons and we frequently get their shit on our outdoor furniture, patio etc. I might ask her to be more mindful of where her birds shit!

LucyLime · 19/01/2021 00:06

Can I just interject and say that my thread was about a specific example of a selfish DOG owner?

Please feel free to start a thread about cats or bats or hedgehogs shitting in gardens and I'll be right there posting on it with my - relevant - point of view

Yes. I was walking up my line and actively watched a man stop with his dog, allowed it to shit right in the middle of my driveway, and then pick it up. I stopped him and told him in no uncertain terms not stop allowing his mutt to defecate on my drive.

He did not say one word. No apology, no half-arsed excuses, nothing. So he was obviously a craven coward to boot.

He walks his dog at the same time every morning; I see him when walking the DC to school. If I catch him at it again I'll have no compunction in cleaning it up with the hosepipe - while he's still there.

YANBU.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 19/01/2021 00:11

Walking up my LANE sorry - not line.

BenoneBeauty · 19/01/2021 00:15

Well done Op - love the direct action taken.

sadeyes21 · 19/01/2021 00:21

So yeah - it's hard for me to get why I'm inhabiting a world with folk like you who think it's fair enough.

Wow.

I struggle with the fact that I'm inhabiting a world with rapists and murderers.

Dogs are definitely different. There's more legal responsibilities around dog ownership. I did say I would be more considerate after reading this thread, not sure what more you want? But I draw the line at policing the neighbour's cat.

Nanny0gg · 19/01/2021 00:33

@dontdisturbmenow

If she picks it up and doesn't put the poo in your bin, I fail to understand the outrage. Do you think cats ensure they don't poo on your lawn at night, or foxes.

I'd be very annoyed if she didn't pick it up but if she is, and therefore it's not all runny, you are being very precious.

It's the OP's bloody garden!

The dog goes on it for the toilet. The owner goes on it to clear up.

How many people do you have in your garden? And the animal will be killing the grass/plants.

She started to say ' I take offence at that..' so I cut across her and said ' you take offence?! It's far more offensive to me that your dog is using my garden as a toilet and it stops now. Also please collect your poo bags from the green'

The absolute cheeky fuckery of it!
She takes offence after her dog shiteing in your garden twice a day then her leaving the filled poo bags on the green.
Cheeky fuckin' mare.

lunalulu · 19/01/2021 07:30

These dog owners should get some railway sleepers, hardcore and gravel. They should make a dog toilet in their own garden. They should key the dog out to do that ... before they go for a walk.

They should use their own garden.

lunalulu · 19/01/2021 07:32

Meant let the dog out.

Well done, OP.

She sounds just stupid as much as anything. Leave the bags lined up on the public green? How weird is that? And so obviously likely to be noticed. Just awful.

Next time tell her to use her own garden.

Justa47 · 19/01/2021 07:38

@LucyLime

Well done. Let hope it stops

Skipsurvey · 19/01/2021 07:59

I dont think her dog will do it again!

MaggieFS · 19/01/2021 09:37

Bet she hasn't been back this morning!

LucyLime · 19/01/2021 09:44

I can confirm that she hasn't been back this morning! So clearly didn't want to chance some mad woman pinging out of her doorway - and she's also not to know that I removed the 'sign of shame' from my garden as soon as I'd finished berating her last night 😂

Hopefully she's walking her dog around her own estate instead of coming over here to literally avoid shitting on her own doorstep.

I'm hoping she will now think twice about where she's letting her dog go

@LucyLime - Stop obsessing over this lady, you’re coming across as obsessive, you’ve already put a sign up, shamed her on a witch hunt Facebook group and shouted out to her, you’re now curtain twitching to see if she returns. She’s made it clear she won’t return and hasn’t. So get on with your life and find something better to do!

cittabassa · 19/01/2021 11:29

you’re coming across as obsessive

No she isn't. That's ridiculous.

If this woman had been letting her dog do the toilet on my grass for some days, I'd definitely be checking that she'd got the message.

gettingusedtothelimelight · 19/01/2021 11:31

@Lady089 You don't happen to own a golden retriever and a green coat do you???

BeforeThisThenWhat · 19/01/2021 11:33

So get on with your life and find something better to do!

Perhaps you need to take your own advice. You are coming across as a the online version of a busy-body curtain twitcher😂😅😂😅

Don't be bloody daft.

Hehe, are you a dog owner worried that if this 'assertiveness' catches on you'll run out of people's gardens for your dog to crap in🤭

billy1966 · 19/01/2021 12:22

Not the least obsessive OP.

Infact I think you have been remarkably calm throughout.

I can honestly admit that someone standing by watching their dog take a shit in someone else's garden deserves everything they get.

It is the action of absolute scum.

I think taking a picture on your phone is very effective if you see someone allowing a dog to shit in a public space.

Makes them think twice.

Lady089 · 19/01/2021 12:48

I don’t own a dog no.
I also don’t obsess about people.
I’m sure the OP is happy with her sheep making her feel better and clarifying her right to obsessive behaviour Wink

Lady089 · 19/01/2021 12:53

@Yohoheaveho - Nice guess but not correct!

@stablefeet - Not daft, if I had a problem with a dog shitting, I wouldn’t post on Mumsnet seeking clarification for my anger, setting up witch hunt groups, making posters, running to the door every time I was alerted of the possible culprit walking path.
I clearly have a better life to live than most Smile
