Dog poo-ing on our garden every morning and evening. AIBU to say something?

We live in a quiet area with just three houses in a sort of cul de sac. We are part of a small estate but at the bottom of it. Nobody comes down here unless they live here or are delivering something really.

However there is a cut through at the top and every morning and evening for the past week, a woman has started appearing from this cut through and walking past our house with her large dog. And every morning and evening, this dog is doing a poo on my front garden.

It cocks it's leg on my bushes and had a wee and then settles down for a poo. And yes - she does stand there watching and picks it up

The reason I know? We have security cameras. The reason I've not said anything to her yet? I have annoyingly either been asleep/ in the shower/ in the garage/ out shopping. Nearly managed it this morning but by the time I'd opened my front door, she was turning the corner and I wasn't about to screech!

So ... onto my AIBU. My DH thinks that as she's picking it up then meh, not a massive deal. I think differently - I don't want my front lawn used as a dog toilet and I think it's bad manners to allow your dog to do this. Once I sort of get - but this is now becoming a pattern.

AIBU to literally stake out my camera notifications today and ensure I can get to my front door and ask her to stop immediately? Or just ignore it?

@Daisysflowers first time it happened, DH was WFH and spotted the little chap, so he went to the back door obviously concerned, to find Mum there leaning on my car watching him. She turned and said "oh he just LOVES playing in leaves". DH said he was just speechless - our street is actually bordered by lovely woods at top, bottom and behind! Second time I was at home, and noticed him pottering around with one of our (many) footballs. I looked out and Mum was there, this time with Granny! I like this neighbour, but she definitely doesn't know how to say "no" to her little lad. Anyway, not much happens in lockdown round here so since then when I've seen him appear I just carry on at my laptop and let him carry on with his little garden tour. We are now considering a fence and a garden refiguration though!

@LucyLime sorry for the thread hijack Blush

I've gone for the fb post

Hello. Just a polite request for the lady who owns a golden retriever which she is walking past my house twice a day - I’m on XXX lane - the very end houses in the cul de sac.

Please could I ask that you don’t allow your dog to use my garden as a toilet? Our cameras are showing your dog doing this and I don’t want it to become a habit as it’s already been a few days now. I appreciate that you’re picking it up but it’s not nice for my garden to be used as a dog toileting spot.

I would have spoken to you directly but keep missing you.

Thanks in advance!

@LucyLime

Like I said, the once I understand. I've walked dogs before for friends and was horrified when one did a big poo in a garden - my fault as I'd let her wander in there absentmindedly. Wouldn't do it again as I felt embarrassed!

It's interesting how some people think that their dogs can roam on other peoples property and shit all over it though.

Maybe it was her garden you let the dog poo in and now she’s seeking revenge?
sadeyes21 · 18/01/2021 17:34

Yabu to take it to FB. You know she will be back, just be nice and talk to her like a decent human being. Posting on FB would make some people defensive and therefore less willing to amend their behaviour.

I personally wouldn't give a damn providing they picked it up. I doubt she realises how much it is annoying you.

That’s a good message 👏🏻👏🏻

Great message.

LucyLime · 18/01/2021 17:58

Well - there's been responses to my post. And nobody yet knows who she is but she's also walking over the green (this is exactly what it sounds like!) which is round the corner from me and is surrounded by houses in a circle.

Anyway, she's been dumping bags of poo on the green! There's no dog poo bin there as it's just not a dog walking type area iyswim - it's a small estate. So she's just leaving bags of poo there

My resolve to CATCH HER as doubled!

Yep - she's literally lining up bags of poo on the green! How weird is that?

People commenting don't think she's an estate resident but they're also seeing her daily

Sorry I haven’t read the whole thread.
Dogs hate lavender....some lavender oil or air freshener on the spot to deter?
Foxes hate Jeyes Fluid smell (me too!)
I would initially be trying some ornamental rocks or stones as a visual deterrent to the dog owner....to deter her and to indicate that it is your land.....adding more items as required...

PanamaPattie · 18/01/2021 18:04

👀 - so she is on everyone's radar now. The net starts to close ......

lljkk · 18/01/2021 18:11

Ooh, you've started something now. Keep us updated...

MaggieFS · 18/01/2021 18:11

Is there a Facebook group for a slightly wider community to ask? Either that or you'll have to follow her!

Jeyes Fluid is poisonous to animals.
Onekidnoclue · 18/01/2021 18:14

Oh this is gripping. I’m hoping the mysterious poo bag bandit is caught soon and read the riot act!

Santaiscovidfree · 18/01/2021 18:14

Poogate ramped up!!
Can you borrow a ddog and follow her??
You need pics of her leaving poo bags!

Hawkins001 · 18/01/2021 18:14

Certainly an unusual one, do you have a photo of your garden ?

LST · 18/01/2021 18:15

Yeah this is massively unreasonable. My dog doesn't even shit on pavements as he has been trained not to. There is no need for her to let them onto your garden.

QueenoftheAir · 18/01/2021 18:18

So she's just leaving bags of poo there

She is gross.

SpudsandGravy · 18/01/2021 18:19

I'm amazed a the people who think it's okay Shock It's not okay. She should make the dog walk on until it's not in somebody's garden before it does its business! Bizarre... I would definitely speak to her about it, and then be ready to produce some photos from your camera thing if she somehow doesn't understand.

LucyLime · 18/01/2021 18:25

Well my neighbour who lives opposite is going to laminate a sign for me! So I'm going to do that now, tape it to a bamboo stick and shove it out there in my garden

OP posts:
LucyLime · 18/01/2021 18:28

@yes there's a 'town' Facebook group but we are in a village 1.5 miles from the town and I suspect she lives in the village but over the other side. She wouldn't walk twice a day from town that's for sure, people don't come and wander round here as it's so tucked away.

I'm considering my sign wording as I want to say on there about please pop over the green and collect your poo bags ..

OP posts:
MaggieFS · 18/01/2021 18:35

If she's that revolting I'd put a full photo including the dog with only her face obscured on the town page. Leave it to others to add comments about the green.

Youdonut · 18/01/2021 18:35

I'd never let my dog do this. This is cheeky as fuck.

I don't even let my dog stray on to peoples front drives a bit when walking on the lead next to me ifyswm, because it's rude to just let your pets or yourself meander on to peoples property.

I have people walking past my house letting their male dogs cock their leg and piss on my fence (it's not a solid fence but wire). It's fucking gross and I really wish they wouldn't because I don't want my front garden stinking of piss. Funnily enough seen the same people pass with their dogs when I'm in the front garden and they don't let them do it then, so I can't collar them about it at the time!

You've no idea if this person worms their dog, so potentially leaving parasites and bacteria on your garden from the leftovers of them picking it up. Dog piss and shit damages a garden over time as well. Who wants remenants of dog shit and piss on your garden when you don't even have a dog?

Wildlife is far, far different to someone pets using your garden as a toilet, and the owner actually letting them.

Super cheeky and she needs a fucking telling the dirty bitch.

Eddielzzard · 18/01/2021 18:37

Unbelievable. Humanity really depresses me some days

Santaiscovidfree · 18/01/2021 18:40

Hey you poo bin dodger..
Yes you...
Take your ddog and it's full bowels and find somewhere more poo friendly..
Regards.
