Dog poo-ing on our garden every morning and evening. AIBU to say something?

We live in a quiet area with just three houses in a sort of cul de sac. We are part of a small estate but at the bottom of it. Nobody comes down here unless they live here or are delivering something really.

However there is a cut through at the top and every morning and evening for the past week, a woman has started appearing from this cut through and walking past our house with her large dog. And every morning and evening, this dog is doing a poo on my front garden.

It cocks it's leg on my bushes and had a wee and then settles down for a poo. And yes - she does stand there watching and picks it up

The reason I know? We have security cameras. The reason I've not said anything to her yet? I have annoyingly either been asleep/ in the shower/ in the garage/ out shopping. Nearly managed it this morning but by the time I'd opened my front door, she was turning the corner and I wasn't about to screech!

So ... onto my AIBU. My DH thinks that as she's picking it up then meh, not a massive deal. I think differently - I don't want my front lawn used as a dog toilet and I think it's bad manners to allow your dog to do this. Once I sort of get - but this is now becoming a pattern.

AIBU to literally stake out my camera notifications today and ensure I can get to my front door and ask her to stop immediately? Or just ignore it?

I hope you manage to catch her today OP. My cat urinates on my garden in two specific spots (so hopefully isn't doing it in other peoples) and my grass there is completely dead. It's just soil now where nothing will grow. Give that dog any more time pissing in your garden and your grass will die too!

Thehawki · 18/01/2021 16:32

I hope you can catch her! Crazy to think she'd just allow her dog to right up into your garden 😬 tell her it will ruin your grass if she attempts to protest!

SingingSands · 18/01/2021 16:38

I'm looking forward to the update!

We have don't have a dog problem, but we do have a wandering toddler who likes to play in our garden. He is supervised by his mum, but she lets him walk up our drive and round into our back garden where he potters about playing in fallen leaves, sitting on the garden furniture etc. Most odd!

It's obviously not nice for you to have dog poo on your lawn all the time, Some dogs will go and poo in the same place all the time , and it becomes a ritual for them. The woman should find a more open space to exercise her dog first, before coming past your houses. You can only suggest this to her if she is a responsible dog owner.

Daisysflowers · 18/01/2021 16:42

@SingingSands that’s absolutely bizarre Grin who lets their child do that??? Have you never been out there at the same time!?

You need your own thread because I am so intrigued Wink

yumscrumfatbum · 18/01/2021 16:46

I never let my dog use peoples gardens as a toilet. In fact I keep him off gardens altogether. Its always possible someone wouldn't notice and its difficult to move a dog once business is underway but a repeated offender? Out of order

Sh05 · 18/01/2021 16:48

I'm sorry OP, she's not coming today! She's seen this thread and realised she's in for a telling off!Wink

MaggieFS · 18/01/2021 16:48

Has the CF chosen today of all days to deviate from routine? Maybe she's one of the irrational shit sympathisers on this thread!

sneakysnoopysniper · 18/01/2021 16:50

See if you can get someone else (that she does not know) to follow her so you can find out where she lives. Print out picture of dog pooing and write an appropriate message on the back about "I hope it will not be necessary to take this matter further".

I had video of my neighbour dumping some rubbish on my garden. I printed out thumbnails on one side and on the other a story about how someone was fined £1000 for fly tipping. Posted it through his door. Next day as 6.15 am video of him clearing it up.

Saved a confrontation and he knows I have evidence that he committed a criminal act.

Santaiscovidfree · 18/01/2021 16:51

Just wanted to prove it wasn't my ddog..
All 4 bums not as you posted earlier...

Olemis · 18/01/2021 16:52

This is absolutely not ok. I am a dog owner and would never let my dog shit on a neighbours garden or even walk on any part of their property for that matter.

It's grim but pooh remnants sometimes get left behind after the turd has been picked up which isn't always visible on grass but it's still there!

Why can't this woman gently tug her dog away from your property or walk on the opposite side? She is obviously aware that her dog enjoys using your property as a toilet.

Swimmingiscancelled · 18/01/2021 16:53

Very bad manners I would certainly say something!

nellly · 18/01/2021 16:55

I'm so invested in the outcome of this Grin I blame lockdown

LucyLime · 18/01/2021 16:55

Well it's a no show so far which is disappointing. However .... it's not always this time when she comes along. It's been a week and it can be up until 6ish and once was 8pm

If I don't spot her today then I'm moving on to plan B! We have a very small Facebook estate group. I'm going to post the photo on there and say I don't appreciate it and ask her to stop. I will just post image of the dog and not her as I'm not sure about identifying actual people online. Im sure a golden retriever won't mind. Or does it need a pic? Maybe not. I'll just describe

I'll tone down the rant and try not to be OTT whilst making it clear ive tried to catch her to have a word in person as opposed to a straight name and shame online kinda thing!

@nellly yeah me too. I wouldn't normally be so glued to my phone

@Santaiscovidfree well they look like good boys and girls! I'll eliminate them from the enquiry

Good luck with the fb posting. Her behaviour is disgusting. Her dog should be on a lead kept to the path. I'd never let my dogs poo or wee in someone's garden.

ichundich · 18/01/2021 16:59

I would agree that's not acceptable. I wish people would take their dogs over fields / to parks / woods to do their business rather than let them crap on the pavement or in someone else's front garden.

blisstwins · 18/01/2021 17:08

@ZoeTurtle

She picks it up. Plenty of animals piss and shit in your garden, and they don't clean up. YABU
I thought you were going to say she doesn’t pick it up. I would think you were crazy if you yelled at me.
LucyLime · 18/01/2021 17:12

@blisstwins can you point me on the direction where I said I was going to yell at her?

And is it ok if I pop over to yours later for a dump? I'll bring a bag to take it away

I'm a dog owner and I'd be mortified if my dog pooed or weed in someone's garden! I live where there's quite a few gardens that are kind of open plan mine included and it is defiantly not the norm to let a dog do their business on someone's property.

billy1966 · 18/01/2021 17:16

FB post, with a picture of the dog is an excellent idea.

Yohoheaveho · 18/01/2021 17:19

@GarlicMonkey

Dogs are 'livestock', allowing your livestock onto other people's land is trespass, the owner is liable for any damage caused. Give her a disk with footage of her dog repeatedly shitting along with a receipt for lawn treatment.

My NDN thinks he's a dog expert. His dopey choc lab would wander all over our cul-de-sac without a lead (dog expert doesn't need to use leads). I sent all my camera footage to the council & called the dog warden ever time his dog was out wandering shitting/pissing all over. He got fined. Dog expert was not happy so being a ten Bob millionaire, he paid the fine but didn't change his behaviour. He eventually got threatened with court & being banned from keeping dogs. Dog expert now begrudgingly behaves himself.

Nice one Garlic! Plus, I feel you have described a route that others with similar problems could follow?
diamondsr4u · 18/01/2021 17:22

Yes say something!!! We wouldn't find it acceptable for humans to go round pissing pooing in peoples garden even if they do clean up after themself. Just no. So why should we accept it from dog owners. Am trying to find the culprit who allowed their dog to shit in front of my house and not bother pick it up!! So disgusting.
