I find the fridge lessens the flavor....lf it was intended to be refridgerated then it would be in the refridgerated section st the shop. But saying that, i freeze it fairly often as i like how crunchy it gets

hansgrueber · 16/01/2021 21:24

@SalemsPot22

In the freezer. Yabu.
Exactly, especially Maltesers and/or Fry Chocolate cream bars, mint flavoured for preference.
miimblemomble · 16/01/2021 21:45

Most of what is sold / bought in the UK wouldn’t meet any reasonable definition of chocolate, so you can keep it wherever you like :-)

Regarding actual chocolate, YANBU.

Starlightstarbright1 · 16/01/2021 21:48

I used to keep it in the fridge but teen goes in the fridge so often i have a better hiding spot. 🤫

GodOfPhwoar · 16/01/2021 22:09

Warm chocolate is only good in steamed puddings!

notanothertakeaway · 16/01/2021 22:13

Dark chocolate digestive belong in the fridge

And brownies

Chocolate bar in the laundry cupboard (hidden)

PurpleFlower1983 · 16/01/2021 22:14

It’s best in the fridge and lasts longer.

Markies · 16/01/2021 22:15

Never - cold hard chocolate is awful. Cupboard all the way.

moomoomummy · 16/01/2021 22:17

Live in Queensland so has to be fridge or freezer here

fluffi · 16/01/2021 22:50

Stored in the fridge or freezer ... only to prevent it being eaten quickly Grin

Bizarre. Decent chocolate is sold almost everywhere in the UK.
Branleuse · 16/01/2021 22:55

I think a fun size mars bar from the freezer is lovely, but most chocolate is best room temperature. The fridge ruins it

FlatteredRhubardFool · 17/01/2021 02:42

Maltesers from the freezer are divine.

TheClaws · 17/01/2021 03:08

I live in a hot climate. If i stored my chocolate in the cupboard, it would be a melted, sad mess when I want to eat it. It has to be kept in the fridge.

MaryShelley1818 · 17/01/2021 04:31

Chocolate needs to be kept in the fridge...it tastes horrible warm and claggy!

BananainPyjama · 17/01/2021 04:34

the OP obviously does not live in Australia.
melty yukky chocolate from November to April? Fridge all the way.

wirldsgonemad · 17/01/2021 04:37

Chocolate in the fridge makes it brittle like you'll break your teeth when you eat it. The fridge ruins chocolate.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 17/01/2021 04:42

Of course it shouldn't gonin the fridge, it's too hard, has less taste, doesn't melt properly.

There's a reason it's not in the fridge in the shops.
As for people who keep it in the freezer. What is wrong with you?!

theThreeofWeevils · 17/01/2021 04:52

@Lockdownshmockdown

I've a friend who sticks chocolate bars between her legs for 5 minutes before eating them.

Wrapper on.

I am inexpressibly relieved about the wrapper status but you need to unfriend this barbarian. For your self-respect. Dear God, they walk among us, with the imprint of confectionery on their inner thighs...
whoamongstus · 17/01/2021 06:09

Another vote for fridge chocolate.

I particularly liked it when, in the Before Times, a pub you were in sold chocolate behind the bar and you could get a Mars bar straight from the fridge. Makes the nougat really chewy and delicious - I don't like them otherwise!

Norwayreally · 17/01/2021 06:21

I always think it gives it a general ‘fridge taste’. Can see why it’s necessary in hot countries though.

thebabewiththepower · 17/01/2021 06:36

It should not be stored in the fridge. If you google, all chocolate manufacturers from Hotel Chocolat to Cadbury’s confirm that between 10-20 degrees C is best and that storing it in the fridge alters both its taste and texture.

Chocolate in the fridge has no taste as far as I’m concerned although my DH keeps sneaking snickers bars in. I take them out immediately. I can see why it may need to be in hot countries sadly.

draughtycatflap · 17/01/2021 08:22

I accept quality boxed chocolates are best eaten at room temperature but general chocolate bars are best refrigerated. Except Double Deckers. The filling sets like concrete.

IDontMindMarmite · 17/01/2021 08:31

I'm honestly shocked at how many people keep chocolate in the fridge. The warmer the better (within reason) for me.

Norwester · 17/01/2021 08:44

Mars Bars, Malteasers, Crunchies... that's not chocolate. Keep them wherever. But solid chocolate should be at room temperature. Like tomatoes and strawberries - the fridge kills the taste.
