Ooh I love a bit of cold chocolate!

SilverOtter · 16/01/2021 20:09

Ugh, my husband does this too - it's so wrong! Totally ruins the flavour.

ArialAnna · 16/01/2021 20:10

Yanbu, chocolate should be served at room temperature.

With the exception of a chocolate orange. For some mysterious reason these taste better chilled.

Your right about chocolate orange! Not that I can eat either anymore (cut out dairy), but also Galaxy is weirdly sooo much better cold.

But... like I said... I do like cold chocolate Grin

@Englishrosegarden

I make chocolate for a living. You should never keep it in a fridge, it's best at room temperature. Keeping it in a fridge or freezer ruins the flavour and texture.
surely it depends where you live. I lived in SE Asia for a while. Room temp would basically mean 'melted'. TBH, the summers we have had in the UK recently where we are regularly over 30 degrees will also mean chocolate is a soft mess. One would think you would know this if you make chocolate for a living...
LegendDairy · 16/01/2021 20:19

Milk chocolate in the fridge. Plain chocolate in the cupboard. White chocolate in the bin.

Itstime1 · 16/01/2021 20:21

You would hate my house. It’s put in the freezer here! My husband converted me and hate to say it... so much better!

littlepattilou · 16/01/2021 20:22

@IDontMindMarmite I never put ours in the fridge unless it's 30°C or more outside. But I do know some people who put it in the fridge and enjoy it very cold/hard.

Not me!

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 16/01/2021 20:22

You are completely unreasonable!!! There is nothing better than a cold twix dunked in a hot cup of tea!!!!

Andylion · 16/01/2021 20:24

@Shesellsseashellsontheseashore

Chilled chocolate from the fridge with a cup of tea. Perfect. All chocolate goes in the fridge here. It has its own drawer Grin
Exactly my way of doing things.
AuntyPasta · 16/01/2021 20:26

Cheap chocolate tastes better from the fridge. It’s the only way Cadbury’s is vaguely edible anymore. The cold dulls the flavour.

Andylion · 16/01/2021 20:27

after eight all in the cupboard.

We used to break After 8s in half, put them in a tablespoon, and melt them over a burner on the stove.

AuntyPasta · 16/01/2021 20:28

You’re not confusing that with heroin Andylion?

Depends on the chocolate.
Chocolate Orange, for instance, is repulsive at room temperature but amazing when cold.

TrufflyPig · 16/01/2021 20:41

Urgh no.

Controversial but I like chocolate slighly melty. Dipped in a cuppa works for me.

I shall await the pile on 😂😂😂

AuntyPasta · 16/01/2021 20:42

Reese’s Pieces from the freezer are lovely.

isthismylifenow · 16/01/2021 20:43

In the fridge here but prefer them room temperature. But if I didn't put them in the fridge they would be a melted mishaped mess. Nothing worse than then a reset oddly shaped chocolate bar.

Same goes for butter.

rockinaftermidnite · 16/01/2021 20:43

Yanbu. Except handmade chocolates should be kept cool, not cold.

maddiemookins16mum · 16/01/2021 20:46

@georgarina

YANBU

It goes waxy and tasteless if it's in the fridge!

You’re buying the wrong chocolate
ShinyPie · 16/01/2021 20:49

Only if your house is like a sauna should it be kept in the fridge.

Someone once gave me a refrigerated Toffee Crisp, nearly broke my molars.

Lockdownshmockdown · 16/01/2021 20:50

I've a friend who sticks chocolate bars between her legs for 5 minutes before eating them.

Wrapper on.

Jbh333 · 16/01/2021 20:53

Unless it’s exceptionally hot out (which in this country is a rare treat) and the chocolate is in danger of melting.... then it has no place in a fridge!

HamishDent · 16/01/2021 20:57

Depends on the chocolate. I received some handmade chocolate which said should be stored in the fridge, but brought to room temperature before eating. Ordinary chocolate, not unless it’s crazily hot and it’s melting.
