AIBU?

Wibu to get a takeaway?

I'm pretty low on money at the moment and as such I'm trying to keep all spending to an absolute minimum. I've written out a budget and am trying my very best to stick to it.

But. I've made a mistake! Last time I did a big food shop I pre prepped and batch cooked everything so I have about 3 weeks worth of meals in the freezer ready to go. Even prepped all my veggies so they would last longer in the freezer. Unfortunately though I forgot to leave anything out for dinner tonight so I have nothing out except 2 pieces of bread, some cuppa soups and some cheap instant noodles 😭

Wibu to cut into my food budget and get a takeaway for tonight? I can stretch it to 2 meals to make it better value for money 😁

I'd order the takeaway and support a local business 😬

Have a takeaway sounds like you deserve a treat! Much nicer than noodles and toast someone suggested 😂😂

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants basically I'm taking it out of my food budget so I'll just have to spend a little less the next time I do a shop 😊

Think I'm going to get one, I'm so hungry now! 😂

God yes do it. I've got a meal cooking in my slow cooker that I really don't fancy now so just ordered a takeaway. I'll have the other one tomorrow instead... small pleasures are the key at the moment.

I think you should get one and enjoy it OP Smile

After prepping all that food it's nice to have something cooked by someone else.

A takeaway is definitely in order. Enjoy it! I'm thinking of doing the same tonight.

If you have no money to spend on food now I would make the noodles with the cuppa soup and accompany it with hot buttered toast.
I often have instant noodles with a cuppa soup -leaving out the 'soupbase' - and its delicious and very quick. Probably with little nutrition but better than spending money you dont have .

Go for it!

Out of curiosity what meals do you have prepped? I'm always trying to do this weeks in advance but run out of ideas after about 3 meals!

Do it! Kebab is fairly cheap and does for about three meals.

I'd save the money and spend £30 on a microwave. there will be many days you forget to defrost a meal over whatever length of time and then have to order another takeaway.

Failing on day 1 just sends a bad message.

(or i'd walk to the local shops which are right by the takeaway and buy a ready meal at £2 over a takeaway at £10 or so)

What are you going to get OP?

I'd definitely look on fb marketplace for a microwave, in case this happens again

if I'd worked that hard to save money with batch cooking and preparation, I'd really resent blowing cash on a takeaway - especially paying to get it delivered.
How far is your nearest shop? -they must have something that costs miles less than a takeaway/delivery, even if its an omelette or egg on toast.
Either that or there must be something that can be cooked from frozen

Myself I couldn't do it if I had worked so hard to budget. We have a takeaway on average less than once a month as I think it is a massive waste of money. I would happily have instand noodles and a slice of cheese on toast, or make pizza toast (toast the bread, add ketchup, cheese and mixed herbs).

You have all the j gradients for my favourite guilty pleasure- a super noodle sandwich! Loads of butter on the bread.

Defrost some vegetables in a saucepan of water and then put the pot noodles in. You can get a substantial and healthier meal that way.

A takeaway sounds yummy though.

I’d have the noodle and toast and set aside the money like another’s poster said towards a cheap microwave so that you have the means to defrost in future quickly if you forget again rather than have to keep resorting to takeaways.

Food of the gods. Especially if they’re the beefy supernoodles.

@HotCupOfNo

Kebab is the cheapest takeaway round here so I get one of those if we're skint

Yep same here, me & DH share a large chicken kebab for £5, bargain

If you can afford it go for it. Ive never had that many meals prepared in my life so hats off to you for being so organised. Although if you do want to save money go for the noodles and cup a soup. From someone who can fast and has done for 10 days i know others have gone longer,( not promoting it just saying) unless you have a condition that requires you to eat or taking medicine ect you wont fall down dead if you dont eat for a day. Are you worried about going to the shop because of coronavirus? You could go get yourself a ready meal or something and have a nice walk for exercise in the process. You have plenty of options Cake

If you’re that skint I wouldn’t get a takeaway. I think you’d regret not saving the money!
