Sister says that I do eat breakfast.

I say I eat a snack and that breakfast cannot be eaten after 10.30.

Why can't it be after 10.30?

If the banana is the first thing you've eaten and it's not your lunch, then I would call it breakfast.

Depends what time you get up?
Breakfast=breaking fast. I.e the first meal after fasting overnight.

It is called breakfast because you break your fast from over night. Therefore your banana is definately breakfast. It would be breakfast whenever you had it

The definition of breakfast is that it's the first food you eat after 'fasting' overnight. You're breaking your fast. So theoretically it can happen at any time of day.

I think you can agree to disagree. Does this really even matter? Where are these rules written about what constitutes breakfast and the time constraints? I must have missed that memo.

Breakfast is whatever you first eat after waking. I have my breakfast at about 11am most days.

I say breakfast is before about 11:30, then it's lunch, even if you are still breaking your fast. A late morning snack is only a snack if you have had breakfast.

Technically it's a light brunch. For those who wouldn't recognise brunch, it's a late breakfast.

Up at 6.30, have tea 7ish, banana on my break at 11.

Whereas normal people would eat breakfast at 7am, and still the banana. So it's a snack

If you got up at 10 and had a banana then that's your (mean) breakfast. If you've been up since 7 I'd say you skipped breakfast and are having a snack.

There isn't much between it, a light breakfast or a snack. Neither is particularly wrong except your weird 10:30 timing.

It’s only brunch if OP is eating banana for breakfast and lunch (hence brunch). If she is eating a banana then another meal around lunchtime it’s breakfast. For those that don’t recognise brunch I hope this helps

People have their dinner at 4pm to 9/10pm regularly. There is no set time.

I assure you when I wake up for night shift I don't refer to it as my dinner an hour after waking up.
