To think a "breathing" sex robot should be illegal

Apparently there is an AI sex robot that now has the feature of breathing (there's a video in the article in the link).

I don't really care how these ultra realistic sex dolls might help people for various reasons. I think in a world where men overwhelming treat women as unfeeling objects (yeah okay NAMALT), further blurring the lines between womens bodies and inanimate objects you can do what you want to is dangerous.

I think they should be illegal.

It's not naive, it's called understanding offender profiles and knowing that a doll breathing won't make a difference.

Sweet, but no. They want to fuck an inanimate object every which way, with complete compliance without a woman saying no to them.

There was a documentary about a guy who had realistic dolls and he did treat them as if they were girlfriends. It was creepy.

A real life woman started a relationship with him during the documentary and tried to be accepting as he was upfront about it, but she backed away soon enough. (Can't blame her at all!)

As people have said above, it can be part of a pattern of escalation of behaviour.

Well, we probably would ban them if they were interactive murder dolls with a realistic gurgle function.

Take this "breathing" doll, for example. If a man sees strangulation in porn, then acts it out on a doll, he's effectively training himself to be turned on by suffocating women. He'll want to do it with real women: it's going to increase his desire for this kind of abusive behaviour, not satisfy it.

I would have thought it breathed so men could switch on the breathing mode then go to sleep next to it and imagine there's someone beside them. DH has a doll. I thought it was a bit weird at first. But anyone who has spent 5 minutes on the online doll community forums would learn the men who shell out that much for the realistic ones treat them like princesses. Men who fuck over women and objectify them don't generally spend thousands on ordering a custom made doll with a realistic breathing mechanism and neither do people with a breath play fetish. A lot of people could learn something from the doll community.

Rape and sexual assault of women and children is not a “1 in a million” event. There are many, many more violent men who rape women and children than you seem to realise. It’s sadly a very common occurrence. And there is frequently a link between watching extreme pornography and committing these crimes. These men don’t tend to wake up one day and just go and rape someone. Their behaviour escalates over many years. They watch “regular porn” and then when that doesn’t hit the spot anymore they move onto something a bit more extreme. And a bit more extreme. And a bit more extreme. Until the only way they can get off is watching women being hurt. And then when that doesn’t do the trick anymore, they look for something else. The end result being that a women or a child is hurt and/or killed. It’s not hysteria or pearl clutching to acknowledge any of this or to assert that a sex doll (especially the ones that look like children and are made with the sole intention of being penetrated by a penis - and which are sickeningly being defended on this thread!) could very likely fit into this pattern of escalating behaviour.
