To think a "breathing" sex robot should be illegal

Apparently there is an AI sex robot that now has the feature of breathing (there's a video in the article in the link).

I don't really care how these ultra realistic sex dolls might help people for various reasons. I think in a world where men overwhelming treat women as unfeeling objects (yeah okay NAMALT), further blurring the lines between womens bodies and inanimate objects you can do what you want to is dangerous.

I think they should be illegal.

If the robot is a life size replica of a lady, and I'd ask is the breathing been added to give the enhanced feeling of realism ? But to my original question, can mumsnetters explain how some of the toys that are available for women, eg the Siberian, various swings, various dildos and vibrators, various sex machines, eg the drildo ect how are they different from mens sex toys or robots ?

Reborn dolls do creep me out. They look too much like a baby who's only just died. And yes, the first time I saw one I'm afraid I grabbed it (intending to start CPR) and only realised as I picked it up that it was only a fucking creepy doll.

My first thought on reading the OP was that this was to allow practice of suffocation.

The fact that was your first thought is on you.

Many who just want to strangle someone won't spend god knows how much on a specialist doll. They will stick to good old fashioned torture porn.

I would have thought it breathed so men could switch on the breathing mode then go to sleep next to it and imagine there's someone beside them. DH has a doll. I thought it was a bit weird at first. But anyone who has spent 5 minutes on the online doll community forums would learn the men who shell out that much for the realistic ones treat them like princesses. Men who fuck over women and objectify them don't generally spend thousands on ordering a custom made doll with a realistic breathing mechanism and neither do people with a breath play fetish. A lot of people could learn something from the doll community.

I remember watching a documentary a few years ago about sex dolls. The manufacturer took them along to a sex/porn exhibition in (I think) Germany. They allowed all of the men that visited the stand to ‘try them out’, they were allowed to do whatever they liked to the dolls except for having sex with them, to see just how real and human the dolls felt.

Preferred method of “testing” was men putting their hands around the dolls throat to strangle them, second was punching them, third was fisting them, both anally and vaginally. That’s what men did knowing they were being filmed.

I think I saw something similar about sex dolls in Japan maybe? They closed the booth or whatever as men were horrendously violent towards the dolls and behaviour escalated to a disturbing level.

If DP had or wanted a sex doll I couldn’t respect him. Fetishising fucking a doll who can’t consent or say stop and who you can treat as roughly and as violently as you wish is so disturbing. Have a wank instead?

They don’t have faces, they’re not made to be human with orifices you can fuck and they don’t feed into a social narrative where women are raped and abused by men, and where women are murdered during sex. HTH.

I thought reborn dolls were designed to look real. I don't see many women in real life who look like sex dolls, they would all want breast reductions in real life.

Naively it didnt even occur to me that the breathing thing would have another more sinister aspect. That puts an even worse spin on it. I just thought it was to make it feel even more life like.

I think all dolls apart from actual baby dolls for kids like a baby Annabelle are creepy. Not sorry. Give me the bloody creeps thinking about it.
