Just seen a post on FB where people are talking about a scene from a film/TV series that has stuck in their minds.....seeing some of them has brought back some pretty scary memories.

Mine is the scene from Salems Lot where the vampire floats up to the window, taps on it and rasps "let me in".

Took me years after that to look out the window in the dark Hmm
Does anyone else have "fond" memories??

The scene in Pet Sematary where the kid cuts the guy's heel open. I get nervous every time I need to look under the bed for something.
Then again, I'm 36 and I still check the wardrobes for would-be murderers before I go to bed...

I must have been around 10 when I sneakily watched Arachnophobia with my older sibling. I remember for ages afterwards checking under the toilet before sitting down. There were loads of other scenes but that one just terrified me

Ddot · 19/01/2021 17:09

Tom and Jerry 🤣🤣🤣

Ddot · 20/01/2021 12:19

Mam let my sister and I watch the birds, we were about 14 and 16. My sister threw up all over her dressing gown. Big wuss

This is more of a theme which is nasty and disturbing ...but the idea of The Purge. I can absolutely see how this idea could one day happen in America.

Horrible films, haven't seen the series but imagine it's just as brutal.

Ddot · 20/01/2021 15:17

I watched big driver, hope I never get a flat tyre

The Conjuring. And it’s sequel, The Conjuring 2. I know someone who is a seasoned horror-film oeficionado who found these films genuinely frightening.

The Ring has to be another contender for one of the creepiest films out there. The final scene, where the vengeful spirit of that tortured girl crawls out of the TV.

I will literally never forget that scene.

Ring is a much better film than the American remake, way creepier. I have just been watching all the Japanese ghost movies again, except Ju-on as it wasn't free

@MichelleScarn

I can't remember what is called but a film where they're trapped in a dimension of lots of different white rooms in which time/space/gravity/physics is all different and I think peoples worst fears come true. For some reason totally freaked me out!
Sounds a lot like the 2nd Cube film, but not the bit about fears coming true
purplebunny2012 · 20/01/2021 23:24

Someone mentioned Woman in Black on stage. I remember seeing Ghost Stories on stage and I had trouble sleeping that night (didn't help I was propped up with a bad back in a hotel bed, I guess). The movie does not compare

@Whattodoffs

Don't know if anyone has watched the series Black Mirror on Netflix....its not scary as in horror genre but it's definitely a bit freaky! I think its Episode 1 or 2 that has a prime minister and a pig.....I shall no more apart from disturbing!
Playtest definitely comes under horror, so some of the episodes do. Arkangel really affected me and I cry at the end of that one

@BraeburnPlace

Like others have mentioned, Tales of the Unexpected - watched as a child.

Not even sure if it would be that scary now but the particular show started with a child in a red hood and cape, Little Red Riding Hood style but only visible from behind, with the hood up.
I think I was lulled into a false sense of something childlike and sweet, then the 'child' turned around and inside the hood was the face of a very wizened old lady.

I was horrified. I still remember it clearly.

Surely that's the movie Don't Look Now?

Purple I loved Us. One of the best creepy films of recent years. Jordan Peele is a very clever director. One of my favourite parts was the use of that song (I got 5 on it, I think it's called?) throughout, It's very jarring. When she's singing along in the car and she's just off key then when it's used for the ballet dance.

It's one of those films I was googling for days after! Think I'll def watch it again.

That dance fight is expertly choreographed. Loved it

@Meowchickameowmeow

Was it Quiet as a Nun, when she turns around she has no face? I wet the bed after seeing that!
Yes! I remember one rocking in a rocking chair coming close to camera too
Whattodoffs · 21/01/2021 13:36

@Meowchickameowmeow I remember that! Scared the living daylights outta me

A film called Triangle starring Melissa George-It is quite odd and sad, but I enjoyed it and still think about it now

Yes! Very well done!

The wall by pink floyd, the video totally freaked me out and the movie had me sleeping with my parents bed for weeks 😂 That will teach me not to watch their videos while they were out 🙈

Yes, it's one that affected me quite a bit. Unfortunately the first time I saw it I missed about 20 minutes so didn't know it was odd with her just going off on a sailing trip. 2nd time watching I already knew what happened and realised how I should have been feeling IYSWIM
Sunshinesky1981 · 25/01/2021 18:10

Was about 8 when my parents let me watch a remake of a film called The Fly with Jeff goldbloom.. horrific when he is changing into a fly and his ear comes off, then he vomits acid over someone..... could not watch Jeff goldbloom for years without feeling freaked out.

Also a children's film called The Dark Crystal by Jim Henderson who did the Muppets... horrific puppets ,still creeps me out

PunishmentSnart · 05/02/2021 20:49

I watched that the night before being induced with my firstborn Shock

I’d blocked it out then recognised the film name, read the plot & am now disturbed again! Going to watch High School Musical to distract me....Grin

@Frokni

-Conjuring scene with "Hide and Clap" both wardrobe and basement bit. -first seeing the Babbadook appear from by the wardrobe -The Woman in Black on stage
I seen "The Woman in Black" on stage in London many years ago. It was a school drama trip and we were all about 17/18. One of the boys sitting beside me was nearly on my knee absolutely petrified.
Teddy1970 · 05/02/2021 21:28

@Whattodoffs

This is the scene I'm on about
Oh god, I remember that even from Salems Lot, I still think about it now when I look out the window at night
Teddy1970 · 05/02/2021 21:29

That scene

Teddy1970 · 05/02/2021 21:30

Ooh anyone remember the film "Patrick"? Scary AF...

olivesnutsandcheeseplease · 05/02/2021 22:38

These aren't even horror films but have stayed with me, the first is a scene in an early Spooks episode where Lisa Faulkner's character gets her arm and then her face deep fat fried.
The other is a scene in Mcgyver when there are these killer ants that swarm and strip a man's body. I was probably about 7 when I saw it but it has totally stayed with me
