Just seen a post on FB where people are talking about a scene from a film/TV series that has stuck in their minds.....seeing some of them has brought back some pretty scary memories.

Mine is the scene from Salems Lot where the vampire floats up to the window, taps on it and rasps "let me in".

Took me years after that to look out the window in the dark Hmm
Does anyone else have "fond" memories??

I don't know what it was called, but I remember my Dad being in charge one night, while my Mum was out. We both fell asleep on the couch, and I woke up to a creepy, evil wee goblin/Leprechaun thing, running about with a stabby thing (needle possibly?). Messed me up for months.

Garofbalaxy · 14/01/2021 20:53

On the TV, not running about our house 🙈

Jetatyeovilaerodrome · 14/01/2021 21:03

Event horizon where Lawrence Fishbournes character glimpses hell and its dozens of flashing images of absolutely horrible stuff! That film is just horrible generally, largely because it's nothing like what you think it will be.

The bit at the beginning of 'Cube' where the guy gets diced!

I think it's Poltergeist 2 where the dad swallows a possessed tequila worm and the demon comes up out of his mouth and its really grim! I was about 10 when I came across that on the telly and it was horrible!

There is an 80s/90s obscure film called 'The Guardian' and it involves sacrificing babies to this tree and also the tree murders a group of blokes who try and rape the female character, but it's quite gruesome!

Jetatyeovilaerodrome · 14/01/2021 21:05

Oh and the bit in one of the Hellraiser films where the guy is being torn apart by hooks - I feel like the 80sness of that film makes it even worse!

And in Robocop where the guy has been put in acid.

@millievanille

I stupidly watched hostel with friends years ago. If you've never seen it ...please just don't. I'm usually ok with horror etc but I can't handle violence or sadism and some scenes in that film were so vulgar and disturbing they stay with me to this day.
When that film came out, a guy took me to watch that at the cinema as a first date.

We didn’t have a second....Grin

Whattodoffs · 14/01/2021 21:20

@Jetatyeovilaerodrome OMG I forgot about the Hellraiser films - Pinhead creeped me right out!

The ring 🤦‍♀️All of it

Turnyouintoafrog · 14/01/2021 21:41

It’s not a movie but it’s a short film on YouTube by David Lynch called The Alphabet. It’s based on his wife’s, nieces nightmare and it’s horrifying!

Turnyouintoafrog · 14/01/2021 21:45

@MrMeSeeks

The green inferno. Nothing more terrifying.
That was a messed up movie!
Turnyouintoafrog · 14/01/2021 21:46

@FirstladyKirkman

Mirrors - Amy Smart standing in front of bathroom mirror and her reflection pulls her face apart by tearing her mouth open Shock
Omg yes! I still think about that now!
Countdowngeek · 14/01/2021 22:19

Always had to close my eyes when Michael J Fox first changed into a wolf in front of the mirror in Teenwolf! 😂 (Still not keen now!)

Probably "Leprechaun". Or as James from Dead Meat calls him, Little Shit
Carriecakes80 · 14/01/2021 22:46

I just watched Return to Oz with my two young kids, It scared me to bits when I was a kid, the headless queen and all those girls heads in cases, my two kids looked at me as if to say 'Really??'

purplebunny2012 · 14/01/2021 22:47

@PilotRochester

Anyone else making a list of all the films you need to see from this thread? I have no children this weekend and dh is working all day on Saturday. Going to scare myself silly (in daylight hours only) Thanks everyone!
I'm just watching Sinister now

If not Leprechaun, might have been Cats Eye - the last story had a little goblin that stabs the cat with a needle. The cat has his revenge in the end!
GrolliffetheDragon · 14/01/2021 23:25

@Anactoria

This thing from Children of the Dog Star. I can’t even remember what it did, but the 4 year old me was terrified and the picture still makes me shudder.
I loved that series. I wonder if it's in YouTube. I remember aliens were involved and at one point time was stopped.
Mamanyt · 14/01/2021 23:49

Dating myself rather badly here, but just hearing the theme song from "Jaws," the original movie...ta DA...ta DA...taDAtaDAtaDA...gives me cold chills, rather badly. I'm in the USA, and grew up on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Swimming was a daily thing. Took me a minute to go back in the water.

Tessabelle74 · 15/01/2021 00:18

The scene in American Werewolf in London where he closes the bathroom cabinet and decomposing Jack is stood behind him! It was years before I could look in my bathroom mirror!

Ddot · 15/01/2021 07:04

Sissyjd
I remember that creepy creature on the plane, what the ambulance man at the end says and the start of the film, two boys driving and trying to scare each other.
DO YOU WANT TO SEE SOMETHING REALLY SCARY? 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

Ddot · 15/01/2021 07:10

Watching a zombie movie at my friends then having to catch a bus outside the cemetery. Still can't abide zombies.
Nature documentaries, soooo cruel worse than any horror imaginable

PurpleFlower1983 · 15/01/2021 07:22

Films like American History X, City of God and 10 Years A Slave have some truly awful, heart wrenching scenes. These bother me all the more with their firm basis in reality.

In the horror genre, the most unpleasant films for me are The Hills Have Eyes - that scene in the caravan and the tree and Jeepers Creepers - the final scene with the skin. Awful! I don’t tend to watch anything to gratuitous anymore as it sticks with me.

Did anyone see the BBC series Gunpowder? The scene where the priest meets his end in the first episode disturbed me like you wouldn’t believe. I didn’t watch the rest!

bemusedmoose · 15/01/2021 09:12

I was a kid when I saw the original IT with Tim Curry. I fell asleep on the sofa with the TV on and woke up to that. I was too scared to get up and turn it off! Took years to not be scared using the sink or walking past storm drains!

Scream - scared the crap out of me and couldn't stand windows without the curtains closed when it was dark for a long time.

Pans labyrinth - horrific movie. Had to turn it off. And I was in my late 20s then!

bemusedmoose · 15/01/2021 09:15

Oh and a Netflix series I was watching - this guy is running away and they zoom in to his lower legs just as he has his ankles hacked through mid run - it still haunts me!

Whattodoffs · 15/01/2021 09:55

@PurpleFlower1983 yes to Gunpowder! Horrible that was. I also didn't watch the rest so you're not on your own
