Just seen a post on FB where people are talking about a scene from a film/TV series that has stuck in their minds.....seeing some of them has brought back some pretty scary memories.

Mine is the scene from Salems Lot where the vampire floats up to the window, taps on it and rasps "let me in".

Took me years after that to look out the window in the dark Hmm
Does anyone else have "fond" memories??

The green inferno. Nothing more terrifying.

Herewego2015 · 14/01/2021 19:24

Candy man.... I can't sleep if I have a mirror near me as I'm scared ill say it in my sleep!!! I'm 31 and saw this when I was about 12 😂😂😂

FirstladyKirkman · 14/01/2021 19:24

Mirrors - Amy Smart standing in front of bathroom mirror and her reflection pulls her face apart by tearing her mouth open Shock

RainbowBrite1 · 14/01/2021 19:25

Mine was IT went he came up the toilet. I haven't watched the remake from a few years ago too scared.
I still don't like going for a pee in the dead of night in case he's waiting for me. 😂
I hate clowns 🤡

Pushingnic · 14/01/2021 19:26

Mines so random was an episode of Jonathon creek that I must have watched in my grannies house. A woman was hiding in her cubists and someone trying to stab her through the crack literally scared me for years lol

Pushingnic · 14/01/2021 19:26

Cupboard*

Second City/SCTV did two Exorcist spoofs. Exorcising with Linda Blair, with Catherine O'Hara, is on YouTube. Sadly, I couldn't find The Exorcist of Oz, with Andrea Martin, online.

millievanille · 14/01/2021 19:32

I stupidly watched hostel with friends years ago. If you've never seen it ...please just don't. I'm usually ok with horror etc but I can't handle violence or sadism and some scenes in that film were so vulgar and disturbing they stay with me to this day.

Tubs11 · 14/01/2021 19:33

@purplebunny2012 I know that now, but I think it wasn't known at the time and pretty big news at the time if I remember correctly

Mikeymoo12 · 14/01/2021 19:36

I don't think I've ever come across anyone who remembers this scene but in the animals of farthing wood there was a scene where these birds were catching the mice and then impaling them on these thorns. It was horrific! I don't think I could stop crying for ages!

Ddot · 14/01/2021 19:37

The original hitcher 😱

GertrudeKerfuffle · 14/01/2021 19:43
@TwoZeroTwoZero I was like that with The Exorcist. Watched it and thought hmmmm, then watched a programme showing some scenes that didn't make the final cut and didn't sleep for months!
Oh god, I watched that documentary as a student when my housemates were out and it was a dark, windy night Shock When I finally saw the film itself years later, it was much less scary (and in fact quite funny due to all the spoofs).

UltimateIrritant · 14/01/2021 19:47

@VQ1970

The film Duel is very scary and is one of those where nothing bloody, violent or gruesome really happens but it plays on your mind.
Definitely agree with this - absolutely terrifying
Whattodoffs · 14/01/2021 19:56

@millievanille - I agree. Hostel is very disturbing and just gruesome.

Same goes for Human Centipede, I only seen thr trailer and that was enough for me. I couldn't cope

Anyone else making a list of all the films you need to see from this thread? I have no children this weekend and dh is working all day on Saturday. Going to scare myself silly (in daylight hours only) Thanks everyone!

AdoraBell · 14/01/2021 20:04

The Omen. Two scenes, Vicar speared by something from the spire, and another man is decapitated by a sheet of glass sliding off a van.

Both characters saw photos with “odd” shadows, the vicar a long thin shadow going through his body vertically. The other character saw a photo with a shadow going through his neck.

Also, The Great Gatsby with Robert Redford, yes I am that old, the final scene with Gatsby floating face down in the pool.

cannockcandy · 14/01/2021 20:05

Two instantly spring to mind and both were from TV shows. One was an episode of The X-Files and it had people who had their mouths stitched up and put in these graves with wooden lids on top. The other was an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer where these men walked past peoples windows and if they caught eyes with you you couldnt talk. They scared the living crap out of me and I couldn't open the curtains at night for months because of that. Film wise, can't remember the name of it but there was the classic woman with long black hair, she chased this woman up the stairs and into a corridor. The woman ran, looked behind her and the girl was gone, she ran towards the guards station and told him to check the cctv which he did but instead of the girl vanishing she ran towards the camera and jumped. Proper made me squeal lol

Love this thread! I’m a big horror fan and don’t scare easily (totally loved the wheelers in Return to Oz when I was a child and have always loved the Shining, Carrie and the Exorcist) but the movie that really scared and disturbed me was a bit of a weird one - Flatliners with Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland. It stayed with me for weeks afterwards and kept me awake at night. Quite a bleak vision of what happens when you die/ bring people back from death.
I also screamed out loud (age about 14) at the final scene of the original Friday the 13th when Jason leaps out of the lake...

ArDali1 · 14/01/2021 20:16

My brother had The Exorcist on DVD and I saw 2 scenes whilst my brother was watching the film and just remembering it, still terrifies me! The crab walking down the stairs and the bit where shes in her room and turns her head around.

The Grudge 1 and 2 , Japanese version, (they know how to make films horrifying)st scary and I watched it in daylight, there was a scene I think the 1st where this lady was in a dressing room and with a lot of wigs , and one wig slowly moves across the room and you can guess what comes next if you've seen the Grudge....... Shudder

There was a film, forgot the name of but I remember this one scene to this day that scares me, in the scene it's a girl doll walking through a ring of fire all creepy and evil looking, I was 8 and since then I am terrified of dolls. Threw all mine away and will not buy dolls for my daughter.
Funnily enough though the Chucky films I find hilarious.
To this day I find the Penguin Man in the 1992 Batman Returns played by Danny DeVito creepy, but I was 6 when I first watched the film so it's stuck with me forever!

I'm a chicken, cannot watch scary films. I don't even like being home alone at night... Blush

Whattodoffs · 14/01/2021 20:25

@PilotRochester I take my hat off to you. I can't even watch scary films in the day time these days!
I think a lot of the films stick in our minds as we were young when we watched them (or at least I was). If I watched them now I'd probably be like pfft piece of p**s, chuck the next horror at me lol

Whattodoffs · 14/01/2021 20:27

@ArDali1 those Grudge films were some scary shit. Japanese filmmakers are, well, gruesome and sick lol

pickingnic I was going to say that Jonathan Creek episode! My grandma had a slatted cupboard in her bathroom and it freaked me out so much.

PilotRochester · 14/01/2021 20:31

@Whattodoffs I love them! But I also watched some way too young at sleepovers, candyman, evil dead stand out from my early teens.

As an adult, a film called stir of echoes, saw it in the cinema and the main character (Kevin Bacon) has been digging his house up and he falls back to sit on the sofa and there’s a ghost girl sat next to him. I screamed and kicked the seat in front of me, then had a major fit of the giggles and had to leave for a while to compose myself.

Whattodoffs · 14/01/2021 20:37

@Whattodoffs I watched Paranormal Activity in the cinema and got told off for screaming 🤣
