Are they exempt or in a bubble or something?

Slightly off-topic, but After Eights are the food of the devil. Team Orange Matchmakers here 😁

burnoutbabe · 13/01/2021 12:08

i think Piers and Susannah do the same as they pretended to kiss one day and they merged into one another!

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/01/2021 12:09

@Furries I like both, not together though.

Sparklingbrook · 13/01/2021 12:10

@dingit

I always though university challenge contestants sat like that. It wasn't until I saw a Rick Mayal sketch and Dh explained it that I realised Grin
Yes when Scumbag College and Footlights were on University Challenge in the Young Ones, Neil put his foot through the floor and kicked one of them in the head IIRC. Grin
Mrsjayy · 13/01/2021 12:12

Didn't university challenge have an upstairs have I been lied to Shock

Mrsjayy · 13/01/2021 12:15

The bake off bubbled together I'm assuming the children (and carers). Did too?

withlotsoflove · 13/01/2021 12:15

You’re partially forgiven then!

Why is this thread in AIBU? It should be in the Coronavirus topic.

Fed up of the Covidiots.

Orgyofsausages · 13/01/2021 12:27

@Lastfreakinglegs

I guess we need the opium of the masses more than ever before.
Go to Church/Mosque/Synagogue much then, do you? Grin

Sparkling only have a couple as 5+ carries a hefty fine. Unless you eat them 3 metre away from the nearest pigeon. That's ok.

iklboo · 13/01/2021 12:31

I watched the original 1959 Ben Hur the other day and NONE of the 50,000 people in the crowd were socially distanced or wearing masks! I'm going to write to my MP!

Orgyofsausages · 13/01/2021 12:32

And in any case Marx is being misquoted there.

Lookslikerainted · 13/01/2021 12:36

Get a life.

Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea. Grin

This thread is almost as funny as the 'is a ham and cheese sandwich healthy?' one

Kokosrieksts · 13/01/2021 13:12

Turn the tv and radio off and sit in a dark room please. Why is your WiFi on? Surely it’s non essential. Don’t you dare read any books in case you strain your eyes. Boos my blood this Covid police.
They are not even sat next to each other.

Kokosrieksts · 13/01/2021 13:12

Boils my blood

Brunt0n · 13/01/2021 13:14

OP if you want to spend the next 12 weeks sitting in a dark room with the curtains shut (is light really essential?) then you do that

The rest of us will be making it bearable however we can

LagunaBubbles · 13/01/2021 13:16

Further question. Is there programme really essential

There is no law about TV programmes so no idea what you are trying to imply. I've heard a lot of people phoning in saying this programme has been a god send for them during lockdown.

MiddleClassProblem · 13/01/2021 13:37

You can bet your life off screen all the cast and crew have coffee together. as someone who works in tv, I can assure you they are following the guidelines off camera as much as possible, just like in offices. The only times they have been able to relax the rules is when they are bubbling together which majority of shows are not doing and are under tight schedules and finances to add minimum 10 days of hotel isolation and per diems to it.

LegoAndLolDolls · 13/01/2021 13:42

@Lastfreakinglegs

Further question. Is there programme really essential? No mask wearing, guests etc.
No TV program is essential surely? No one NEEDS to watch TV.

However no one needs to have a partner, kids, sex, a garden, a holiday, alcohol, more than one outfit, chocolate etc etc.

If it upsets you, get rid of the TV. That is not a essential item either.

charliespie · 13/01/2021 13:46

@Lastfreakinglegs

We can't even send our kids to school but they can come on and talk about fashion tips etc.

Meh. We should be glad some people still have their jobs and can go to work. It's not just about the 2 on screen, the show will create many jobs for many people. While I agree that it's awful children cannot be in school, it's not a factor here. The mentality 'if we can't do X, people shouldn't be allowed to do Y' is not needed.

Lastfreakinglegs · 13/01/2021 14:32

I'm not making any moral judgements about content. I'm just saying unless all the cast and crew and guests on set are living in a giant hotel together, surely they risk airborne transmission of the virus. I'm just surprised it's permitted when any other kind of meeting up is not allowed. I'm sure they're following protocols but they must be getting taxis in and out everyday?

It’s their income. So it’s essential to them. And apparently to you since you are obviously very involved in watching it.
