To keep this erroneously delivered coffee machine

That I didn't order or pay for. I ordered a small value item (£25) and they also delivered (addressed to me with only my name on the label but with no charge to my account) a fancy coffee machine worth £200+.

I feel that as I didn't order or pay for it I should send it back. My friend thinks I should say nothing and thank my lucky stars.

What would you do? YABU to keep it. YANBU to send it back.

I would have kept it, sorry!

Some companies do it deliberately. Look at the reviews for that product in future as you may find you've given a review.... Except you haven't.
I think it was on some docu just before Christmas. They do it as a sweetener 😳

Black Friday l ordered £180 worth of goods from Boots. 2 weeks later the parcel hadn’t arrived so I contacted them and it was reissued. Over the next 2 weeks the items arrived in multiple parcels. 3 days before Christmas the original parcel turned up. Friends said keep it Boots won’t notice but my conscience got the better of me so l contacted them. They seemed surprised by the contact and just told me to hand it back into a Boots store when lockdown permitted and gave me £10 in points for my trouble.
When l handed it back the store assistant was a bit bemused as if she didn’t quite know what she was going to do with it. But my conscience is clear although who knows where the items ended up

I had delivery of furniture when i got home ( teenage son signed for it ) i had been i delivered a huge projector screen with someone elses address, i rang company and guy said just keep it ( it wasn't from them) and we will send anothee.
It was quite clear that parcels were prob just switched so I called back and got someone else who contacted courier, day or so later courier collected screen , day after furniture arrived, then a few days later I came home and 2nd peice furniture delivered that courier had picked up from other address.
I called company for them to collect and they could only do mornings midweek , explained I worked and previously paid for sat del so could they collect then. Was a no then advised me to leave outside but any damage or loss I would be charged for. Left it that as none of this way my fault and they had told me to keep someone elses stuff they either collected on a sat or chanced that someone was home on weekday or I kept it, never heard from them again.

This!!

YABU to keep it. In my mind (don't know the legalities) keeping it would be stealing.

TBH, I'd think less of a friend who suggested keeping it.

The white company Sent me some pjs in error

I had ordered 4 fragrance oils in November. I contacted live chat & told them of the error. The lovely chap said don't worry, I'll send a return label & we'll send your order out.

A few weeks later, nothing arrived & I contacted again to be told nothing had been sent out & they'd only send my order when I returned the one in error! Also they could only email a returns label. I told them I have no way to print it & they were so unhelpful! I have spent well over an hour on their live chat, (the worst thing ever as the CSRs are dealing with several queries at a time & just leave you sitting waiting for ages). Still waiting for a response. These were supposed to be Christmas gifts.

It's amazing how differently companies react to their errors.

We received two parcels from Amazon to our address, but in a different name. I spent an hour on hold to their customer services before I gave up. We still have the parcels.

I ordered a laptop in 1st lockdown for my sons birthday present. A box arrived. I thought it was a bit heavy but thought nothing of it. I put it under the stairs out of sight.
A couple of days later I had a phone call from the retailer, " You ordered a laptop and we accidently dispatched a box with six laptops in it. we have video evidence and weight evidence from the courier that you have it. You need to return it or we will take legal action against you"!! And they were right the box had six in it. I told them to f-off and if they wanted to come and pick it up firstly I want an apology and second they must guarantee that the poor warehouse person who made the mistake wouldn't get the sack.

We were sent an unsolicited frying pan out of the blue, really nice big one with a lid that can go in the oven. DH found it on Amazon for about £200. We kept it and use it all the time. Amazon are welcome to send me free gifts any time.

Elphame · 13/01/2021 11:07

I’ve just received a duplicate order from a large bookseller. No not Amazon.

It’s £100 of books too. I did email them but they haven’t replied. If they don’t respond by the end of the month the books will go on eBay

AmazingBouncingFerret · 13/01/2021 11:33

When we moved house last year we purchased new washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer to coincide with our moving date. The retailer messed us about a bit and they ended up being late but somehow we ended up with an extra tumble dryer we didn’t pay for which is now in the garage still in its original packaging!

star1459 · 13/01/2021 11:39

I'd either tell them or wait a Month or two...

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 13/01/2021 13:22

I had similar with an order of relatively inexpensive beauty items and along with those I was sent something very pricey. I let them know, they just said to keep the extra item! Made my day. Grin

boobswife · 14/01/2021 23:53

usually, when the retailer lets you keep the item, no matter how expensive, it is because the markup/profit on the item is less than it would cost to pick up.electronic goods have such a small margin.

DimidDavilby · 14/01/2021 23:57

I'd have flogged it I hate nespresso. Not be handing it back into the greedy arms of capitalism though. Not a chance.
