It is utterly transparent and utterly self serving. Pence knew what Trump was like from the start, he's been stoking support from far right groups from before he even made his run at the presidency official. Pence knew this and hitched his waggon to trump regardless, his instructions to the proud boy cunts to stand by should have been all the confirmation he needed that Trump was going to encourage armed insurrection. What we are seeing is a pathetic attempt to preserve a shred of his own reputation at the very last possible second.
