Ofsted report on remote learning .... If any of you did this .... thank you, thank you!

So in the ongoing attempt by the Govt (& certain section of the public) to paint teachers as the enemy in a global pandemic, Gavin Williamson’s announces (2 days after giving teachers less than 6 hours to put aside all the preparation done unpaid in the holidays to prepare onsite mass testing facilities and move to blended learning) that parents should report their school direct to Ofsted if they aren’t happy with their school’s offer.

Apparently Ofsted are inundated with over 5000 responses ..... mostly from parents praising their school and teachers!!

schoolsweek.co.uk/ofsted-deluged-with-5000-emails-as-parents-turn-tables-on-williamson-by-reporting-superb-schools/

So if it was you - thank you! I’ve worked over 100 hours this week as have most of my staff.

Thanks Star

spanieleyes · 08/01/2021 21:47

Apparently he forgot to warn OFSTED that he was going to say that. They are not amused as they are now trawling through the 5000 odd emails to find which ones are in praise and which ones are genuine complaints!

Lifeisabeach09 · 08/01/2021 21:48

What a dick!!!!
What is it with Tory ministers (not all!) being cunts!
I didn't email (didn't know to) but teachers/SLTs are doing a great job with little to know resources and barely any notice.

Thank you.

millymollymoomoo · 08/01/2021 21:51

Well first lockdown I can honestly say my children’s school were nothing short of shit! However so far things seem better ( not ideal but better !) here’s to hoping it continues ! ( and that they go back to school very quickly !)

dublingirl66 · 08/01/2021 21:53

Please please can we all email in
Praise for teachers is in short supply

Please leave as many positive emails as possible

Elephant4 · 08/01/2021 21:54

Which address should we write to? I'd like to do this for our school. Is it the general Ofsted email address?

whatkatydid2013 · 08/01/2021 22:02

Oh we did that. Weren’t we meant to? Oops

winewolfhowls · 08/01/2021 22:07

Thank you so much to anyone that has done this. After a hard week, reading this post brought a tear to my eye
.

Chanandlerbong01 · 08/01/2021 22:15

I’ve never worked as hard as I have the last couple of months. I have been working from 8am through until 11pm/midnight each day at home this last week organising for school. I didn’t even get dressed today because I didn’t get a minute.

It’s a shame that the government don’t recognise that teachers work for them and not against them. They seem to have the mindset that they want to beat/win/catch us out rather than help us be successful.

Daisy829 · 08/01/2021 22:18

Love this. Last lockdown our home learning help wasn’t great at all. This time it’s absolutely amazing. I’m so glad people have responded the way they have. Our teachers have been completely overlooked in this whole situation. Unsung heroes.

rabbitheadlights · 08/01/2021 22:19

@Effic I have emailed my DC s teachers several times since all this started to thank them. I would like to do something for them but what? I thought about cakes/chocolates delivered but they are mostly working from home I think each teacher is doing 1/2 days a week on site on rotation.

Do you think a coffee machine with all the pods etc would be well received? Or would that be a health and safety /pat testing nightmare??

Chanandlerbong01 · 08/01/2021 22:20

@rabbitheadlights what about a costa card or something like that?

Justforphoto · 08/01/2021 22:23

After the absolute shitshow that was the previous home learning provided by school they have been absolutely wonderful this time ( different teacher which I suspect has made the difference) I can not praise and thank her enough. Mail already been sent to school to show my appreciation but I'll drop one to Ofsted now as well.

squiglet111 · 08/01/2021 22:23

I've emailed ofsted with positive feedback about my son's school. Would like to give my feedback on the governments handling of everything... Where can I log that?

AaronPurr · 08/01/2021 22:24

Just chiming in to add another thank you to those who have emailed. 😄

TheRogueApostrophe · 08/01/2021 22:25

According to the tweets linked in that story it's [email protected]..
rabbitheadlights · 08/01/2021 22:34

@chandlerbong01 would that be ok though? I don't want to make more work for them and someone would have to go out to get them all coffees?

luckyrabbits · 08/01/2021 22:35

@TheRogueApostrophe thanks for the address, will definitely send praise for our teachers, they have been amazing this week.

Shieldingending · 08/01/2021 22:38

I’ve emailed to let them know how great my daughters school are ! As a teacher who is working her socks off at the moment I really hope some of our parents might have done the same ...

Chanandlerbong01 · 08/01/2021 22:43

@rabbitheadlights oh I read it wrong and thought it was for just one teacher. You could ask the school if they have any specific accounts maybe, we have a dominos account and have deliveries for treats for kids so they maybe have something similar that they can order in. The coffee machine sounds expensive!

Also, rather than emailing OFSTED that probably won’t pass it on to the school - send it to the governors! It will get them off teachers backs which they will appreciate.

Effic · 08/01/2021 22:45

rabbitheadlights

Honestly, the very nicest thing you can do, which would be massively appreciated, is to send a card or letter that says thank you and recognised that we are trying our very best.

Most teachers I know keep two things .... their class photos and letters/cards from pupils and parents saying they’ve made a difference.

Recognised = recognising

Another way to praise teachers for free:
thankateacher.co.uk/thank-a-teacher/thank-a-teacher-form/

Please do this if you can. It will make their day.

I emailed Ofsted about my DC’s school. I cannot fault them, they must be absolutely knackered and yet they are working hard to keep children educated and, importantly, are concerned about their mental health and keep in touch with that. All of them will have their own families to stress about but they make us feel very valued in the school community.

Thinking of batch cooking some homemade ready meals to drop off on the doorstep of some teacher friends so they have a meal to heat up when they are too tired to cook. Any teachers think this is a good idea?

Effic · 08/01/2021 22:50

That squiglet111 is an excellent point .... where is that feedback address as I’d like it too!

I’m a Chair of Governors. I’m collating copies of all the thank yous to put in a folder as a historical document, to show what the school did for the community. It might be interesting for people in the future.

I’m sorry if you think governors are on teachers back, no one on my board is. We are in support mode.
