.. to think that Stanley Johnson getting the jab tells you everything you need to know about these clowns?

For a government that values "optics" far higher than actual competence or delivery, thus feels like a misstep. He wasn't following the rules before, now he's going to unstoppable (and smug too).

Meanwhile millions of NHS staff, teachers and others carry on doing their work on the front line unvaccinated and lots of others in Stanley's age group who got a first dose are being asked to wait for their second so others can have their first dose.

He's entitled to it. He's 80. My parents are also having their second jab on Tuesday. My parents are also extremely vulnerable.

I can't understand the point of this thread? Is it just to government bash?

In which case....seeya....

TwentyTwentyOne · 08/01/2021 10:07

When is Stanley getting his EU passport?
I do hope he pisses off sometime soon.

Candyfloss99 · 08/01/2021 10:07

He got it because he is 80 like many other 80 year olds.

hamstersarse · 08/01/2021 10:08

Sounds like some people want a 'morality test' before people receive their vaccine.

More authoritarian nonsense from people who claim to be caring people

LeaveMyDamnJam · 08/01/2021 10:09

I imagine there are a lots of far nastier over 80’s who have received the vaccine already. The nhs has to be blind when giving treatment.

derxa · 08/01/2021 10:09

@steppemum

He is over 80.

He doesn't have to prove that is is a good human being, he just has to show he is over 80.

1/4 of all over 80s have been done so far.
plus the care home and NHS workers that have been done.
More than the rest of Europe put together.

So, the UK is leading the way on vaccines, we are doing a good job, we are getting it done.

But hey lets moan about it and complain about it Hmm

I don't think the gov has handled corona well, but I do think we are doing well with vaccine so far.

Yes

@RoganJosh

I think many people haven’t read the OP properly.

He’s getting his SECOND dose. After 21 days. Everyone has had their second dose delayed to 12 weeks.

Everyone else hasn’t had their second dose delayed. Some GP practices are sticking to the original guidelines because it’s more work to reschedule.
Backbee · 08/01/2021 10:10

Everyone has had their second dose delayed to 12 weeks.

Not everyone, here those who had the jab before the 'rules' changed have had the second dose. I know this isn't the case everywhere, but due to the logistical challenges of transporting and storing the Pfizer vaccine, there is no way they gave a second dose just to him, others in his area will have been done too.

Reading comprehension is quite poor in AIBU sometimes...

HES HAD HIS SECOND DOSE OF THE VACCINE

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 08/01/2021 10:10

What’s the issue? He’s 80! My FIL and his wife both had their jabs this week and they are under 80 but over 75. Should they have refused?

I agree that NHS staff should have been first but I know many of them HAVE now had the jab.

Stanley Johnson got his jab because of his age, not because of his son’s job.

Lordamighty · 08/01/2021 10:11

Carping at absolutely everything the Government does is just getting tedious now, we are actually doing well with the vaccines.

AS HAVE LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE, HE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE.

hope that helps

Arobase · 08/01/2021 10:12

Stanley Johnson got his jab because of his age, not because of his son’s job.

This is his second jab. People of his age are having the second jab cancelled. How hard is it to understand that?

Oh really? That's good news, my parents are 79 and clinically vulnerable, I am counting the days for them to get the vaccine.

Can Iask where in the country they are?

Yes I for one have appolgised for my mistake!

I don’t think it’s poor reading comphensionits more scan reading!

I’ve seen a fair few people on social media say their relatives have had their second dose so er yeah it’s postcode lottery

Not government intervention

Lots of people who got the vaccine int he first round have had a second dose. He is not alone,he did not get it because of who he is.

How hard is it to understand there is a post code lottery and health inequalities in this country
unmarkedbythat · 08/01/2021 10:16

I suppose they hope him getting it will encourage some people who are dubious to follow his example.

I can't be bothered to get pissed off about this. If they start selling off the limited vaccine supply so that people with money can jump the queue, then I'll get pissed off.

Lots of people have had their second jab. My neighbour (over 80) is going for hers later today.

She isn’t related to anyone in government.....

Yorkshirepudding1987 · 08/01/2021 10:17

I know of three 80+ that have had their second dose this week in West Yorkshire.

Not sure what the big deal is?!

LaMarschallin · 08/01/2021 10:17

Possibly it would have been better if he hadn't volunteered the information in an (arrention-seeking, typically Johnson-family-style) announcement on television, but been quite up-front about having it if asked, so as not to give ammunition to people who have illogical and unscientific views on vaccinations.
There was a lot of "Bet he hasn't had it because "they" know it's not safe" when Tony Blair wouldn't say if his son Leo had had the MMR or not.
I understand that it's different with a baby and they had the right to protect his baby's privacy, but it certainly didn't help those who were trying to explain that it was safe.

hamstersarse · 08/01/2021 10:19

@Lordamighty

Exactly!

Look at the much lauded Germany - and the EU in general

Way way behind the UK and didn't have enough vaccines on order through the EU agreement and many countries in the last few days have had to do their own deals, outside of the agreements with the common purchasing agreement. e.g. Germany and France

It's amazing our media refuse to do comparisons with other countries when we are doing well and only when we aren't. We love a bit of self-flagulation

LaMarschallin · 08/01/2021 10:19

"their baby's" not "his baby", obviously

Boulshired · 08/01/2021 10:19

It not just post code lottery but the demographics. My neighbours have had both doses but the hub is centred in a area of mostly middle aged and family areas. There are very few assisted/ sheltered housing.
