To think my friend is disgusting for reporting this woman?

A woman at my friends stable moved her two horses today to a new yard. According to my friend, You are not allowed to move horses to a new yard unless it's to do with the welfare of the horse.
My friend reported this woman to the police and then all proudly told me what she had done!
I wouldn't dream of reporting anyone, unless there's a massive party going on. I told my friend that it's a bit extreme to report someone for just moving her horses!

Im with you.
Your friend is a very sad individual..

Lastbonestanding · 07/01/2021 23:26

Yep, she should get a life

nimbuscloud · 07/01/2021 23:27

Why did she need to move the horses?

ooohbriefcase · 07/01/2021 23:27

What a sad pathetic thing to do. Hope you told her.

dontgobaconmyheart · 07/01/2021 23:28

Have you told her so OP?

I have to say if she was doing this with her own equipment and household/support bubble I can't really see why this would bother anyone. How does she know it was not for the welfare of the animals in some capacity?

She's entitled I suppose to report it if she believes a crime is being committed but I think being self righteous and boastful about it reflects poorly on her. I doubt the police have the time anyway tbh.

LawnFever · 07/01/2021 23:28

Your friend is a ridiculous busybody, I hope the police ignore this completely surely they’ve got better things to do

I’d be really pissed off if a friend of mine was at this level of pettiness

ellt · 07/01/2021 23:32

@nimbuscloud

Why did she need to move the horses?
To move them to a different stable as she didn't like the stable my friend is at. My friend said this woman was moving them to a stable closer to her home and had some issues with the treatment of the horses - which I guess can be seen as a welfare issue, so god knows why my friend reported her!

I really don’t see your friend’s problem if the lady moved her own stuff (including horses) from her personal space at one stables to her personal space at the other stable then it should be fine. You usually have to give a month’s notice to leave at a stables, so the lady had probably arranged to move well before lockdown was announced anyway.

I have horses and my own little livery yard. I hate to say it, but horsey people can be especially bitchy. Your friend is probably one of the reasons the lady moved off the yard!

CheetasOnFajitas · 07/01/2021 23:35

The police will just smile and nod and ignore her/laugh behind her back. Talk about having no sense of perspective!

Sinful8 · 07/01/2021 23:36

Hmm so apprently this is mumsnets line in the sand on covid restrictions, horses.

Quaagars · 07/01/2021 23:39

YANBU

Notthissticky · 07/01/2021 23:44

Much as people flouting COVID restrictions piss me off, I draw the line at reporting people. It's bad enough that our freedoms are being restricted by the government, but citizens spying on and reporting each other is a whole other level of 1984 altogether. I also really don't see the risk of spreading COVID in this situations. House moves are still allowed I believe, and moving a few horses seems far less risky to me.

HeronLanyon · 07/01/2021 23:44

sinfulthat really made me laugh.

LindyLou2020 · 07/01/2021 23:50

To the best of my knowledge, horses can't catch Covid.

(Sod's Law someone will confirm that they can............)

Glitteryone · 07/01/2021 23:52

Yeah YANBU, your friend is an asshole.

Carolofthebellies · 07/01/2021 23:58

That friend must be jealous that she couldn't do it.

NoProblem123 · 07/01/2021 23:58

All the horse transporters I know are business as usual (ie/ very busy!) and it can’t all be emergency welfare issues!
Your friend sounds like a right pain.

Actual lol
honeybeetheoneandonly · 07/01/2021 23:59

That's an easy conversation (should the police be bored enough to even speak to the person):
Police: "We had a complaint about you moving your horses"
Woman: "yes, they were a bunch of a-holes, creating drama and making my and my horses life unnecessarily difficult"
Police:"Yes, I see. Have a nice day, mam"

Lilmzsnowflake · 08/01/2021 00:00

Animal welfare issues are considered valid reasons to be out.
She would have had to give notice.
I would also guess these activities were outdoors and distanced from others.
Your friend is pathetic. I hope the police involved have had a good chuckle.

NoOneOwnsTheRainbow · 08/01/2021 00:10

Wow I bet the poor woman is glad she moved the horses very far away from that crazy bitch.

Wise.

This video demonstrates what can happen when people report others. Distressing scenes of Police Scotland "Protecting public health" (a comment in the thread reports that the daughter recovers).

Police Scotland stormed into a family home yesterday - on suspicion they had guests around... In fact their seriously ill daughter had just been discharged from hospital.

Exactly
Or are we that into reporting people we're expected to let animal welfare slide now?!

StopSquirtingBleachOnCaneToads · 08/01/2021 00:21

She sounds like a total loser. I don't even know her and I feel sorry for her.

Just say " Oh right..." smile, nod, ignore.

StopSquirtingBleachOnCaneToads · 08/01/2021 00:22

Yes house moves are still allowed - a good friend of mine is in the process of moving from Wales to East Yorkshire and has checked up on this, and all is still ok to go ahead.
